Dr. Zola
I Call upon thee to inform me about the Negative Mister
Negative is good, he's pretty cool, he's beautifully animated and he doesn't really need Awakened. Durable with amazing block proficiency on SP1, good regen on SP3 and potentially crippling Degeneration on SP2.
Really useful in matches like Buffet and Power Snack thanks to Nullify Immunity.
One downside is how dependent he is on activating his Heavy-evade to get Dark Energy. Against opponents who go Unstoppable or counter Evade, he's seriously impaired. So that's a fair few Skill champs; and opponents like IMIW, Ghost, or really anyone on a True Focus node :-(
Otherwise, consider this a Mr. Positive pull. Congrats.
I feel like I should write a "Why should I be happy about Mr Negative post now". I've made a game-play guide of how to use him, I've got a playlist of my youtube videos of him, and I've got a Line chat with about a hundred people in it discussing Mr Negative, so the next logical thing is to make a post detailing why he's a good champ. The game play guide does have a section on strengths and weaknesses, but I feel like making a post on the more practical day-to-day "why is Mr Negative good to rank up" side to it could be helpful. Plus then I can just link people to it when I get tagged in posts like this
Here is the gameplay guide:

Here's my youtube playlist
And if you (or anyone) would like an invite to the Line chat, my Line ID is bittersteel99, just throw me an add. There's a lot of useful info there including a list of nodes he can counter, a guide to how to test Mr Negative that takes you through different paths/nodes to show his strengths, lots of little tidbit tricks that help you play him, and also there's a couple of other youtubers and I who are all there to give pointers on any gameplay you want to chuck in. Also, if you don't fancy joining the line chat but want to know any of those guides/pointers then
deal with itjust let me know, I can sent them to you (I just don't want to clog the forum up with a lengthy post. While I work on a post of why you should be happy, I can give you an explanation of him and his main strengths.
Essentially, Mr Negative is the best degeneration counter in the game. I'm sorry Spider-Ham but I'm being objective here, not just because Mr N is cool, he is the best. Awakened (which is nice to have, but not necessary), you can regenerate up to 940 per second. To put that crazy regen into context, on my Rank 3 sig 200 he goes from 1% health to 100% in about a minute while degenerating. Not only that, but for every unique debuff that Mr Negative has on the opponent it reduces the potency by 40%. Mr Negative has 4 unique debuffs on his base kit, one from parry and one from resonate if you run it. And it's very easy to keep up some debuffs to reduce the potency. (Mr Fantastic also allows for 100% uptime on the full resistance with his pre-fights. Great synergy between those two). He counters starburst with constant heal, special delivery, Mojo, dismay, Icarus, no retreat to name a few.
He also has one of the strongest petrify in the game, and with despair, I believe he has the strongest heal reversal in the game (aside from Wasp, who would need a few hundred hits on the combo metre to achieve surpass it). And it's a very accessible heal reversal too, not hard to maintain at all.
His nullify/stagger immunity plus damage when nullify is attempted makes him a strong counter to buffet/power snack, and also Dr Doom and Man Thing and other tricky mystics. The petrify covers any power gain they may have as well. His delirium, while not strictly power control, does allow the opponent to gain much less power while being hit. It's not gonna let you shut down a fight, but it's definitely nice to have.
His evade counter allows him to play a close to, if not actual, 0 hit play style. It is a slight trade off for damage, but I find interweaving a couple parries here and there allow for the vast majority of his damage. Essentially, you dex, remove the buff or heavy counter and remove your fury buff for light energy, and you never need to block. By the time you get to sp2, you'll be on around 10 dark energy and you get your damage. It is a slower playstyle, so if you need damage or utility fast, it won't work as well. This evade counter also counts as an intercept for foresight, ebb and flow intercept, so that's very useful.
The degeneration damage from Sp2 is his main source of sauce, my rank 3 with 20 dark energy (and no furies), will tick for 4,536. Which means a total damage of 90,720. And remember, that's a guaranteed 90k damage, plus 15% for each fury you have. So two furies, which are pretty easy to get, is a 117k Sp2. The great thing about this is that there's no reliance on crit damage. Think about someone like Cap IW, known for big sp2s, my Rank 3 does 108k damage on a crit and 36k on non-crit. With a crit rate of 24.3% that's expected damage (basically the average) of 53k damage. Mr Negative has a guaranteed expected damage of 117k, double Cap. I've taken RoL fights down in around 50 hits with Negative, so he's not just a pretty face, he can deal serious damage for a champ with the utility he has. I've soloed Omega in Abyss with Negative, just to show he can.
Adding on to his damage, his sig allows a pretty consistent form of damage similar to (but not as good as) Void's debuff tick. While you have dark energy, you deal 39.5 damage per dark energy per tick. So most of the time you're gonna be hovering around 9, that's 356 damage per tick while the opponent has a non-damaging debuff (with resonate it's pretty much constant), otherwise, it's when they have a petrify or exhaustion on them. It's a nice supplement to the degen damage from Sp2. Nothing mind-blowing, nothing to scoff at.
Lastly, Mr Negative is really quite sustainable, if you've taken a bit of damage in a fight and need to heal up, go for the Sp3. I think the max I've gotten it to heal, with about 16-18 light energy was 26% of my max health. That's pretty huge from just one sp3, think about Warlock, or sentinel, they can manage a few percent points. Not to mention, when up against degen with the resistance you will be net healing from the damage. When I fight Mojo's in alliance war, I purposely trigger the degen to heal up - it's that good. Let's say you have 1 debuff on the opponent, for a degen to do more damage than you heal, it'll need to be a 783 per tick regen, pretty beefy but not unheard of. But for 2 unique debuffs, for a degen to do more than you heal at 80% resistance it'll need to be 2350 per tick, how often do you see that level of degen? And evidently, with 3 unique debuffs you could have a infinitely high degen and take no damage.
To sum it up, Mr Negative is a specific-ish champ. He's not a ghost champ you're going to to take everywhere and dominate, but he's not as specific as namor where you only dust him off on rare occasions and birthdays. When there's spite, or regeneration, or degen, or buffet/power snack or a nasty Doom/sasquatch/ Dormammu/Mojo/Man Thing/sym supreme that's when Negative will shine. I bring mine to AW a fair bit, slightly less due to true focus, but Negative still rocks paths. And even some fights on boss island like Man Things he's still the best option for. Mr Negative is 100% worth the rank up, and hopefully we will be seeing less of true focus as promised.
TLDR- Rank him up
I still use Negative a lot even with true focus.
i like to rank champs that i just have fun playing and Mister Negative is definitely fun to play. I'm still having a time trying to stack DE high enough but I'll learn lol
For dark energy, I find getting to 9 light energy first and then converting is best. That way it won't expire, and instead of converting 3 or 4 light energy at a time (which can get confusing thinking on the fly in a fight, how many until 9?) you can keep track of it a lot easier. Then go again, and try and get 9+ light energy then convert!

I figured out that if you bait a heavy attack, you can use the non-repulsor attacks to evade counter.

In terms of champs that will just counter his evade, night thrasher, ghost, agent venom, black widow, crossbones, DDHK, Jabari, Nick fury, Apoc and prof X will all stop the evade from occurring, but seeing as most are skill champs, it’s pretty easy to avoid.
A few more to watch out for are Rhino, only evade when he’s backed into the corner so he can’t dash you, or dash back and dex his unstoppable attack, then charge heavy so he should play into you.
Weapon X goes unstoppable when an opponent evades you
Make sure not to evade counter anyone while they’re unstoppable like Jugg or UC.
Be careful not to do it too often against someone like Hit Monkey, since he gets an evade counter if you evade.
Be careful against Odin, heimdall or Red Guardian who can get evade counters by using specials.
