What's the minimum roster size needed for a chance at getting a Champ from the Basic Arena.

I want to start giving a serious attempt for Basic Champs in the arena, but I'm not sure if my roster is developed enough (despite being Thronebreaker). I have 28 6* (one R3, two R2, and the rest R1), and 118 5* (13 R5, maybe 21 R4, the majority are R2/R3). Like currently, after 38 rounds, my score is about 3.3 million, and I feel like that's a really low amount (I'm not trying for the Champ this time around, which is why my streak is so low).

Do I even have an outside chance of getting high enough for a Champ with my roster? Or most likely not?

    It depends on which heroes you are going to go old or new hero and how many rounds you are going to do 3.3 is the maximum or until you get tired.

    Think that if you do 3.3M x6 time = 19.6M

    Masacre came out in 13M the one with 5 stars

    It's certainly doable, but will probably require a pretty hefty effort (and more than a few units). Also, particular champs are more highly sought than others, so choose your effort vs how highly they're rated. Massacre, last time round, for instance, went for around 33m (6*), 13.2m (5*), but Odin went for just over 66m (6*), and almost 24m (5*).

    I have 5 or 6 more 6* than you, but 33 5* r5, and by playing twice/day I can go around 13-14M in basic, sometimes 15 with boosts. So my suggestion is, if you want to focus getting 5* champs from basic arenas (without spending any units that is), consider maxing at least 10 5* more champs.

    It depends who else plays against you as well. I put up 27m for Odin and could have done ~45m without using boosts if I had the energy. If you want a champ like him, then you’ve got no chance unless you’re willing to drop a lot of units on refreshes.

    I used this to rough out my potential score:

    6R3 - (45k * X) * 6 =
    6R2 - (40k * X) * 6 =
    6R1 - (30k * X) * 6 =
    6R0 - (25k * X) * 6 =
    5R5 - (40k * X) * 9 =
    5R4 - (35k * X) * 9 =
    5R3 - (30k * X) * 9 =
    5R2 - (25k * X) * 9 =

    That’ll give you a ballpark of what you can hit across the 3 days assuming 2 runs of your 6* and 3 of your 5*.

    I would not grind for any champs with that roster. I have a much stronger roster than that and have not even been close to getting to a 5* even when I've grinded the most. When I went against the Grandmaster (the Act 6 boss, not in the SOP), I really needed units and grinded hard for a week. I hit every milestone and was still way short of the cutoff. It takes an immense grind to get there, and if you're not willing to pour units into your results, you need an absolutely stacked roster.

    With that being said, grinding arena can still be a good source of all kinds of resources as long as you keep your expectations in check and don't become disappointed if you fall short of the placement you're aiming for. Not only will it keep you topped up on units, gold and ISO, you can also earn a decent amount of 5 and maybe even 6* shards even if you don't reach the very top of the rankings.

    I generally use my 6* champs to go for the 4* champ in the featured arena to get the ISO, then I use my 5*s to either earn units in the basic arena or to complete the various other arenas (t1a, t1b etc). That is a pretty sustainable resource grind, even if it doesn't reward me with any 5 or 6* champions.

    I have 85 six stars and I still don’t feel like I have the roster to grind for arena champions lmao. Especially six stars
