State of the Battleream update Jan 2021

brief looks before I go over the whole thing:

So, I think I have a decent idea of who is coming this year between the Narrative Roadmap and this Puzzle. There are a few months I’m quite unsure, and frankly confused about, but here goes

January: Toad and Sauron confirmed

February: We know it’s a Hell’s Kitchen month, and I initially didn’t know where to go for this. However, I think it’s Misty Knight based on the Luke Cage connection, and then the second champ would be Echo (thank you random Twitter user for suggesting her). I reckon Echo fits in that isolated box just beside Kingpin. Obvious connection to him, connections to Hell’s Kitchen, they haven’t been doing Disney+ tie-ins, so it makes sense to me

March: I think the key to working this one out for me was the they said it was X of Swords inspired. When that video was released I was thinking maybe Genesis, but now with this new puzzle in convinced one of the champions is Omega Sentinel. I’m fairly certain the other is Captain Britain, but which version? Betsy or Brian? Two things make me think it’s going to be Betsy. 1. Brian wouldn’t be a mutant and it would be weird to have a mutant themed month with 0 mutants (Brian would be mystic). 2. X of Swords inspired, she becomes the Captain Britain in that storyline, while Brian is Captain Avalon

April: Spider-Verse month, absolutely screams Sandman and Black Cat to me. Sandman connected to the rogues gallery and Black Cat just off of it since she isn’t really a villain (also ran a criminal empire once so being near kingpin also makes sense)

May: Multiverse of Madness month. I’m 99% sure one of the champs will be Wiccan, specifically in the spot directly connected to Scarlet Witch (that will become important soon). The video mentions that there is multiple mystical arrivals that are friendly (the key here being that both are said to be), so my betting for the other champ is whoever fits in the box solely connected to Strange. Wong, Clea, really any Doctor Strange ally as long as they’re Mystic. I would bet on Wong since he’s been highly requested and will actually be in the film

June: I’m really proud of my first pick for this one. Hulkling. We know it’s the Kree-Skrull War storyline, and Hulking directly ties into that. He would immediately follow Wiccan’s release, which would explain the box solely connected to what I assume to be Wiccan’s box. If it was Speed I really think it would also be connected to Wanda. As for the second champ, it mentions a missing avenger. And while I think this will just be a plot beat, I don’t think it’s completely unrelated. You know that missing synergy partner for Falcon? I think it’s Patriot. Now, Jayaxe came up with this, I can’t claim credit for it. And it is an inspired shout. Falcon would not have a synergy with another version of himself. And if it is Patriot, then the connections to Captain America on the puzzle make sense, the synergy with Falcon makes sense, and he would be releasing with a fellow young avenger. My only hesitancy is how long that box and synergy have been there, doesn’t seem like the kind of champ that would be planned that far in advance, but who knows

July: Gorr and Valkyrie. Very, very easy pickings

August: Another Herald champ that seems morally ambiguous. Impossible to pin down who it might be to be honest. My best guess would be Korvac but I highly doubt it. I also think this is the month we get the Summoners Choice champ, which I reckon is the lone box beside Iron Man and Starky

September: I think this is a Doom themed month. I had previously thought Zemo might be this month but the vote scuppered that. Titania seems like an easy fit for the She-Hulk connection and for the character referenced in the video. I reckon this is also when we get the big box connected to Doom himself. Now, who this is I really don’t know, I don’t think we get any clues in the video. It has to be a fairly major character, at least in the Contest’s story to have a box as big as Doom. I know I’m going to sound biased here (and I almost definitely am), but I think there is a genuine possibility this is Morgan Le Fay. She’s really one of the only characters with a prophet relation to Doom I can find, we know they want to bring her, and ten big box could be because they want to do more with the Camelot side of Marvel going forward, and as far as I’m aware, she’s the current queen of it

October: Our second Spider-Verse month. Now, we have the box in between Symbiote Spider Man and Doctor Strange. But where is the other box for this month? The only other box that can fit from the puzzle is connected to Overseer (I’m pretty sure I have every other box filled out by the end other than this one). So maybe a Realm champion based on Web Warrior or Madame Web? The video tells us allegiances will be tested so maybe? Red marked boxes relate to the Chronoserpent (which are the eyes in the puzzle, it isn’t actually Entropy/Eternity). So that usually means MROC. It wound also explain that weird line from Maestro through Madame Web. And as for the Symbiote Spidey and Doctor Strange box, I just don’t know. There was that Supreme Spider arc in the comics last year, but that would be very niche (although it would also fit absolutely perfectly). I know people have said Morlun, but I have to ask, where does he fit? From the video it seems like they’re doing Spider-Geddon but this puzzle tells a different story. Maybe he goes where I think Black Cat goes? And she goes there? I don’t know, I need you people to help me out on this one

November: Wakanda Forever. Shuri or Okoye are an easy fit here. And I think our second champ here is the one connected to Namor. The video mentions Wakandans having to move to ‘new territories’ and work with ‘old adversaries’. Atlantis and Namor respectively, and Namor is rumoured to be the villain of Wakanda Forever. Considering the threat this month appears to be Galactus, I think it will be a ‘good’ Atlantean, so I don’t think it will be Attuma (I’m open to the possibility though). I would Namorita but I am not versed enough in Marvel Atlantean lore to take a solid stab at it

December: Final box connected to Star Lord and Drax. Mantis. Easy peasy. Friends with Drax on GOTGV2, and served Star Lord’s Dad. If it was someone like Adam Warlock they would absolutely get a bigger box and not be introduced in a lighthearted December event, which is what the video makes it out to be

Obviously this will be very wrong, but I’m feeling more confident than usual in it. If I’m even somewhat correct, it looks like a good year for champs (Now we just need to get literally everything else fixed. Including new champs abilities. *Glares disappointedly at Sersi*)
