Have Arenas become irrelevant?

The cutoff for Omega Sentinel was 229M… shouldn’t this be worrisome? Imagine being place 101 with 228M and just getting a 5* and shads.
Maybe it’s time for Kabam to stretch the amount of people that receive the 6* characters on the arenas?

Could it be even better? Yeah, absolutely. But is it irrelevant as-is? No.
Think of it like a competition to see who can put the most amount of points in a given round. I feel your pain i honestly do, but top 100 was the cutoff be it 228M or 230M. You are never guaranteed to get it. It's a question of how mucb time / units / money even is the new champ worth to you.
Even if kabam increases this ceiling to say top200, you will still have that 201st person problem. Its a competition
As for your title:.No arena isnt irrelevant as its a good source of gold, BC and units as well as a free 4* and 3* of champions.
But still dead ass boring
I grind Featured for the newest champs to get the 4*. Takes me less than 3 total hours over three days. Units, shards, and Battlechips are a bonus.
I grind Summoner Trials for GM shards (for ISO), gold, Battlechips, and units. I hoard the BC until July/December and use the units to occasionally buy Featured Cavs.
Bought two last week. 600 units, which I’ll make back in roughly one week. Got a 5* Omega Sentinel.
Did it in January with 5* Sauron as well, but also missed on Toad, Misty, Captain Braddock and Captain Samerica. Win some, lose some.
Nope. Not irrelevant at all.
Getting BC units and gold without spending money? No, not irrelevant at all.
otherwise, i just go for milestones, and when i feel like pushing i'll try to get top 1-5% rewards when im lookin for a few extra shards.
I have demands of real world responsibilities and cannot commit that amount of time to arenas. Good for those that can, it just cannot fit my lifestyle.
The absolute best I can do casually in a feature arena might be around 60m without burning myself out too much or spending units. So, I suppose that's in the range for some older, outdated champs that I might be missing in my roster, but even then it's still a gamble and generally not worth the time or effort.
Arena is certainly one of the more egregious examples.
If you want a champ with a a lot of time of your life on them, will be Irrelevant af.

I'm not saying kabam should give out more, I'm never going to do a champ grind, but that 100 is about as arbitrary of a number to give out as 50 or 150(obviously this is a random ass range I came up with, but as long as the ratio of accounts who get the champ versus number of people grinding stays below a certain threshold, I don't see the issue. We definitely have enough information to work out what these numbers might look like)
I haven't done any arena in months and find myself significantly happier.
But this also completely misses the point. If someone says or implies that the scoring levels in the arena require continuous all day grinding, a simple calculation that proves it is possible for vastly less time means that complaint is exaggerated to the point of being irrelevant. Whether that level of effort is itself practical or not is a completely separate discussion, and highly subjective.
There's a big difference between "are we back to grinding 24 hours a day" and "are we back to having to choose which things we can acquire with our effort based on how much effort we think is reasonable?" The first one is hyperbole, the second one is Tuesday.
