Wow, his kit is a lot better than I was expecting. New immunities, miss counter, power stings, poison , and a glance that is less annoying on defense. There is a lot to love about this buff! This is an example of how you can give a champ a solid buff without making a broken or hard to use champ. Really nice work.
Looks amazing. Shock, poison and buff immune? Incredible. Miss counter? Pretty good, don’t like that you can’t reactivate the unsteady until it’s fallen off. Plus poison is decent to have, and glancing gives him that Sersi/Proxima like ability.
He’s looking very good, and the damage is also looking quite good.
Regardless of how good the buff ends up being, I just want to stress how glad I am that the buff program seems to be trying exciting and new things again.
I’ve been one of the most outspoken on the forum about how uninspired the buff program got since the start of the year. But with Juggernaut and now Ant Man, both buffs are definitely more out there with what they’re trying to accomplish. I can’t wait for Rocket as well!
I’m now excited for the buff program again, so whether that’s in response to the feedback given or completely unrelated - thank you to the team behind the buffs! One of the things I look forward to each month the most is back, and I love it.
As for the buff, right away Poison, Shock and buff immunity is insane utility. I love the combo of poison and shock, it’s so useful.
First thoughts, absolutely stacked kit and some really great utility. Damage is apparently great according to John and Karate Mike.
I think the power sting will be awesome, stack a bunch of debuffs with sp1, heavy attack and bait a special. Power sting increased with each debuff on opponent.
Miss counter is decent, but I’ll cover my reservation in the con section.
I love the ability to both pause and refresh debuffs pretty easily with the sig, or intercepting/hit while recovering from heavy.
I love that there’s two sources of pym particles, dexing or being immune to buffs and using sp1. This will give two ways to keep topped up.
Unsteady could be great to keep him tanky.
Onto the bad bits:
Petrify is almost useless for power gain, hidden behind sp3. Could be good for heal reversal
Don’t like that you have to heavy to power sting, on the other hand, since they do damage per debuff. Maybe you won’t need to do it too often
A 15 second on, then 15 second plus off miss counter seems alright, but may be hard to use properly. Unfortunately can’t pause or refresh this
Overall, I’m extremely hyped, but a little tentative about those cons, can’t wait to see how it all fits together and see how good he is.
I’m looking for a good science champ to join my Mr Negative at R4, Ant Man has some promise! Can’t wait to test.
Would rank up mine but I got a few rank ups lined up this month. Can't wait to rank my Ant-Man next month. Glad my forum vote and arena vote did not go to waste after all, though the buff was delayed but still will be delivered. Maybe even better than the Guilly buff.
Alright after reading the buff notes I’m pretty excited. Super happy that he doesn’t need his dupe because I have him but not duped. Looks like he can deal some good damage and his poisons can be refreshed so thats sweet. Only thing I wish they did was change his animations. They’re so basic and with Ant Man they could have made some fun or unique animations. Like his specials look good but his basic animation or at least his heavy could have been changed.
cause ants can actually walk on livewires... i see a lot of ant swarming on electric poles at time so I assume that's where he got the immunity to shock.
No changes to incoming synergies, usually kabam mentions changes to those on spotlights.
That is usually the case, however Kabam John has already said that the Cap Sam synergy is going to change and that wasn't in the post, so I'd just hold my breath a little about the Ghost Synergy. Ant Man can stack a ton of new debuffs now, I wouldn't be surpised if the potency of the attack per debuff was taken down a long way. Also, Ant Man has way more damage in general anyway, so another reason it may be reduced

It should be kept as we are now limiting the buffs so if we reduce Ghost synergy and Cap debuffs it would be significant reduction in max potential of antman.
My opinion is that those synergies are balanced to an Ant Man that is pre buff. Hypothetically, let's say he's 2/10 before the buff. Those synergies all together make him a 6/10, decent damage now.
After the buff, let's say he's an 8/10 now. Why do those synergies need to be the exact same, even though they were balanced around a 2/10 champion? If you copied and pasted those original synergies onto the new Ant Man then you'd take him from an 8/10 to an absolutely overpowered, 15/10 champion which isn't good for the game.
That's why synergies get changed after buffs. They're balanced to the pre buff champion.
The damage increase that the Ghost synergy gave Ant Man pre buff? That's now just in his base kit, he has a massive damage increase. The debuff pausing that Cap Sam gives him? That's in his base kit now. The fact that these synergies may be touched just means that Ant Man is no longer reliant on synergies to be able to do those things.
If the synergies were left the same, you'd need to balance Ant Man's base kit to the synergies, and all that would mean is that he would have less base damage, to accommodate the massive damage increase from Ghost, and he wouldn't be able to pause his debuffs as well because you'd have to accommodate the Cap Sam synergy. That leaves Ant Man as a synergy reliant champion, and personally, I'd prefer him to be better on his base, no matter what they do to those synergies.

And poison immunity?!
Presumably he gets poison Immunity the same way Peni Parker gets hers?
Like his specials look good but his basic animation or at least his heavy could have been changed.
I agree with the heavy attack part. I think all of his animations are fine except for his heavy attack, easily one of my least favorite animations in the game and it looks like we're going to see it quite often since it's a pretty important part of his kit.
Aside from that, this is an incredible buff and I'm super excited to try it out. Having another buff immune champion is nice and all of his utility and damage (aside from the petrify, which is difficult to actually get going) looks very promising.

I found that funny
