Feature crystal after timer ends?

So I want to get some last tries in the current feature but as a lot of players I want to open my 6* crystals after the addition of 7* shards in November and as I already opened and duped way to many champs in the crystal, I don't want to lose even more 7* shards.
So can I get the crystals now and open them after their timer expires? Genuine question as I have never had done this for a feature crystal, only for 4* dual crystals for iso purposes. And as you understand they aren't comparable so I don't want to lose feature crystals for just not being sure.
