  Glad to see I'm not the only one dealing with this. Can we get a moderator's input on this? Are y'all aware that this is happening and trying to fix it? Should we just deal with it until further notice? Pending discussion with Apple about how to fix?

  Just found that there is a solution. See Kabam Vydious's post at link below for details.
  
  To disable that you go into Settings > General > Background App Refresh > Off
