Life of MCOC

Hello,

I have a curious ques?

What is the life of this game? i know this game is around almost 8 years now and Kabam keeps adding stuff in terms of new champs , maps quests etc but the gameplay overall is still the same where u fight the defender.

Was wondering when it becomes stale and game developers move to a different game style i.e Kabam stops investing in the game and look for newer alternatives.

I used to play Asphalt 8 a lot then slowly the game developer moved to a newer version and Asphalt 8 stopped getting those newer content, will same happening with MCOC? If yes when?

As long as we have people like magus this game will run

One account cannot sustain the investment.. it cannot even pay salary of one developer

The game dies when they stop making hundreds of millions a year on it. We’re not close to that and it is neither possible nor fair to the developers to predict when that time would come.
Madden is still a football game after almost 40 years. Minecraft is still just squares. Call of Duty is still just shooting the others guys with new storylines.

The game will last as long as people will play it and there’s no reason to believe the end is near.

All the games u mentioned gets newer version year over year.. new version new platform new graphics new game play style.. it is fresh and always new.. do u still play Ps1 games? No right because the engine gets updated new technologies are discovered..

I’m not saying Kabam does things perfectly, because they clearly don’t. I’m not a Kabam defender and when they’re doing something wrong I will call them out. But the fact that the last couple years have been overflowing with blunders on their part and people are still playing it is a testament to how much the player base still enjoys this game.

And never fall into the "game is dying hype". I've been playing over 7 years and literally every single month during that time there has been "the game is dying" posts. These "game is dying" posts have become way to frequent from people who get upset about a random thing and then think they speak for the community and are just a massive meme at this point.

I never said the game is dying read my question.. its about what is the life? Neither I am upset with the game or hate playing it, was just a curious question to understand how do you determine the life of this game.. we get 2 new champs every month when it becomes a overflow of champs? When the interactions are too complex to manage?

Game wont die for a long time. Marvel licence is super hot. Fan base is massive.
Money willing to be spent therefore is disproportionate. Those spenders are heavily invested.
Mobile gaming has overtaken console gaming.
All of the above ensures this game will run for a very long time.
    God bless @Magus

It dies when something better comes out or when everyone finally gets fed up with their incompetence and spending money on a broken game.

It makes it hard to walk away when there are years of invested time and money put into so many accounts. I feel like they take advantage of the loyalty.

I believe it's the Marvel characters that keep this game going. I think if you try this same game and same company with unknown characters, then it fails before it even launches. But because we all love Marvel characters and love playing fight mode conveniently on our phone is what allows Kabam to always keep their head above water.

You realize asphalt 9 is still asphalt 8 with a few extra things right? If there were to ever be a mcoc2, it would be the same thing as mcoc1 but with extra stuff.

If 12.0, and the old kabam CEO actively trying to kill the game, couldn't kill the game, then the only thing that'll really kill it is if content is no longer made.

I wouldn’t be too confident in the Marvel brand. Revenue from films has dropped off significantly. Disney is struggling financially. The stock is at levels seen in 2015. A 30% decline from pre-pandemic highs. A 50% decline from post-pandemic highs.

They are flirting with running off the casual fan base; the bulk of the revenue. People don’t want to have to see 10 hours of shows just to understand the plot of the movie in theaters. And there’s just so much content being spilled out that it’s creating a burnout.

My concern isn’t Kabam running the game into the ground. But rather that Disney puts the pressure on them by greatly increasing licensing costs to recoup lost revenue. Kabam then has to find ways to recoup their lost revenue. Players notice these changes and the quality of the game declines. Whether that be more pay walls or less staff creating more bugs and less content/bug fixes. On top of that, tech is general is in a decline. Most notably the game engine license through Unity; who is struggling even worse. I their licenses are the biggest risk to this game.

Marvel has been around for YEARS!!!!!!!!before Disney made movies with them. Pretty sure Stan Lee was a multi millionaire before Disney.

There was a thing called comic books that thrived long before the internet.

Thats the point at what time the plug is pulled do we get a tenure that this engine is good for 10 yrs or so before going to MCOC2?

I disagree its a brand new game different in all aspects, yes still racing but an advanced version..same as Fifa every year or even a new iphone every year.. when will be the time MCOC gets upgraded to MCOc2 or even kabam starts investing similar funds and effort to another platform?

Honestly an MCOC 2 wouldn't be a bad idea in the sense that the engine MCOC is running on is extremely old and there probably isn't a dev left at kabam now who helped make it. A completely new engine could be refined and help improve the issues we have with inputs and improve the game quality as well.

@Kabam Miike @Kabam Zibiit @Kabam Porthos @Kabam Porthos @Kabam Vydious @Kabam Lyra can you share some insight what does Kabam thinks is the future and life?

As long MCU is around then kabam can keep getting inspiration to continue adding more champions and so on. The game will not go away soon and most likely won’t be gone for a long time. The game has come a long way and only keep getting better with each graphics updates and so on. The only downside is the bugs and that is extremely normal as bugs comes and go together with newest mobile technology to handle the game better.

The question is for how long when it becomes too complex to maintain or too old to
Maintain? Its been around for 8 yrs for how long more before a new game becomes the focus? Everything in the world has a life span nothing is immortal??

None of that changes the very real fact that Marvel revenues have dropped significantly and Disney currently has major financial issues.

I’m not saying Marvel, or Disney, is going out of business. I’m saying Disney, in an attempt to ramp up lost revenue, targets licensing on the Marvel side which has downstream effects on this game. Or, the general public gets burnt out on Marvel and the market share for this game declines.

What happened before Disney purchased Marvel really doesn’t have any bearing on what is happening today. Comic books are irrelevant at this point.

The game will be fine. There will be a slowly declining active player base but the players that remain will be of a higher average spending type. They won't make as much money but the game will still be profitable. Staff cuts and an overall formula will be in place at that point to make further development much cheaper than initially. The game will run for many years to come. Decades.

Was called mroc or Something Like that

Asphalt 8 crashed and burned. Used to love it. Tried to pick it up rceently and was not fun. Everything too expensive

As long as the game makes enough money every year, it won’t shut down. However, mcoc is a rare success story that has come out of a long line of failures at Kabam, mainly Marvel Realm Of Champions(shut down after 2 years), and Transformers Forged To Fight(shutting down this month). We need to continue to hope mcoc makes enough money for Kabam to keep giving it life. I been loving the game since the beginning, and, although there have been many ups and downs, I still stay loyal and love the game. Kudos to the game team for such a masterpiece!
