Battlegrounds Banned Champs

Someone in my alliance made a comment about this and I want to see if this is true.

At the beginning screen when you ban the opponents champs, are those champs also banned from your roster too?

I would think that the obvious answer is no. I dont remember seeing that anyway and in game it only says those champs are banned from the opponent. But I've been looking through screenshots of champ selections and I feel like this is true.

Am I missing something?

Yes whoever you ban, is also banned from your own roster.

I get it that thats the way its setup but it just doesn't make sense though. Why am I being punished for banning a champ I don't want to fight when my opponent doesn't make that same decision

The screen where you ban the champs clearly says they will be banned from both sides.
Yet numerous recent posts asking if it does that from people who don’t see that.

I mean it does state that it’s banned from both people when selecting the bans, although reading that is difficult given the amount of time you have to select the bans (I have a set few champs I always know who I want to ban so I usually have some time to spare).

However it’s about having a fair playing field in that regard, if a champ is banned then no one gets to use it, it makes you think a little more about your bans and your deck, as you’ll find that some champs are banned more often than others leading you to get some other picks in. It also means you can ban certain champs that you don’t have in your own deck with no worry.

It's not punishing you for banning a champ, it is forcing you to make strategic decisions and is a big part of the draw of the format, imo. For example, for a long time, I didn't have Doom so I would always ban it if my opponent had one. But now I have 6* Doom awakened and ranked, so I don't ban him anymore because I would rather put my skills up against my opponents on relatively equal terms.
