Y'all know that one star colossus is still the pre buff version right? Just do the same. I don't get the worry for newbies here. They didn't care with one star black panther. It ain't hard to keep one star spidey the same as he is now but buff the other rarities.
To keep it simple for beginners, just up his damage per debuff/taunt on the debuff for his sp2 or just in general. He is just bad right now. They've done so well with the hulk rework so far but spiderman is almost as bare bones as he came in
Ummm ok. His utility? It's ok. (7/10). His damage? (5/10). I'm sorry but this is what I saw. Karatemike's R3 spidey's sp2 hit for about 38k with crit. My spidey r2 hit for 24k with crit. It isn't much of a jump also taking into account that it is a whole rank difference. His removal of armor break on crit was unnecessary. His reliance on stun is quite a hinderence taking into account his base damage hasn't gone up at all. He doesn't do any more damage than he does now without his sp2 stun. Even then, the amount of time he has that damage is about 5 seconds after the sp2. The buff is more like a (5/10) where his usability is practically the same as it is now.
Btw, new players progress so much faster than they did before, making champs easier to use ( or newb friendly) no longer makes sense. Give them a week and they will be frequently opening 4 stars.
I suspect and very much hope that there are issues with the beta, I don't expect him to be an absolute god because like was mentioned he is easily attainable for new players but a lot of this just does not seem right.
Like taunts being increased by 0.06 seconds at sig 200 can't be the case (right???) That's a value I'd expect at sig 1 maybe
Let me put that into perspective, Mcoc to the best of my knowledge runs at 30FPS in most cases At 30FPS a single frame takes about 0.03 seconds, a I counted the frames on a random attack of the new spiderman and the frames between hits is 18, that means that a single attack takes about 0.54 seconds to do
That would mean that at sig 200 taunt would be up for an extra 1/9th the amount of time it takes to do an attack
You can say a lot about Kabam but I simply refuse to believe they'd do that, it's very clearly still beta so I hope this along with other numbers I see here will increase
One thing to keep in mind is that his kit is in very early beta, so there’s quite a bit of time for tweaks and adjustments to be made before his release with the April update. Ideally, I’d like to see him get an attack bonus for every taunt debuff on the opponent, since he looks to stack them quite easily, especially once he gets his debilitate debuffs up.

I don't understand the whole "new players need simple and accessible champs aka trash" thing. New players won't like good champs that they will continue to use as they get higher rarities? They need noodle champs that fill the screen with debuffs that don't do much? This Spider-Man buff is definitely not simple and accessible for new players.
🤔... Maybe this is to get newer players used to the idea that the mainstream Classic Marvel heroes they know and love, that they can get on t-shirts at Target will mostly suck in this game. Mission accomplished if this stays this bad.
Please kabam do the Most Famous Marvel character a bit of justice. I know there are other spider-men in the game but he is the OG. Deserves a better tune-up. Take 2 more months if you want but do it right.
It's 99% the same guy who design Xpool's buff, literally no dmg enhance ability beside 3s stun from sp2 which its still very bad.
What makes this worse is the facts that
- you might want to stack Webbing by spamming sp1 (or using sp3) to slightly extend the duration - you have to wait for the Defender to get up from the move, which actually eats into the stun duration quite significantly due to the distance sp2 puts you at
He needs a significant damage boost. Based on what we have seen he seems like a much worse Anti-Venom. I don’t see any reason an endgame player would use him

Unfortunately, most likely we’ll see a response like we’ve seen with other buffs stating that it was made specifically for newer players instead of more advanced ones.

which is ironic, because his playstyle doesn't feel all that simple if you take his Taunt mechanics and Webbing into account
I usually keep my mouth shut about almost everything that happens in this game. I don't love being overly critical or deconstructive, so unless something really feels wrong I usually let the powers at be handle the situations.
I'm only opening this discussion as a means to perhaps have a constructive dialogue over the BETA buff that we have been able to see through content creators.
I wont sugar coat it. OG Spiderman's buff is pretty awful. For a character who in many ways is marvels most popular creation, one would hope that his buff would be treated with the same care as say the recent OG Hulk Buff (who rightfully has great hype). I've seen multiple posts filled with outrage over the (subject to change) buff, and my point is not to direct negative energy towards Kabam, but rather ask them to really go back to this buff with the love OG Spidey deserves. I don't think he needs to be the best champ we've ever seen, but I do think the community as a whole loves the character enough that end game players would love to have him as a viable option in their rosters for all content moving forward. Karate Mike brought up a great idea of adding attack per taunt so that his damage would scale, and I'm sure there are a number of POSITIVE ways we can appeal this buff with the controllers of destiny RE: Kabam.
To say that this buff to Spiderman is disappointing would be an understatement. Perhaps its just because of who he is as a champion and what he means to all of us. I know that deadpool x force's buff was not intended to make him the best, but make him usable enough for newer players, I really hope that this isnt the plan for OG Spidey. Im glad that we can at least know whats going on with videos from the CCP, but it would be nice if we knew that Kabam understood out concerns. So far I think that building his attack per taunt would make the most sense as his damage just doesnt look right. perhaps other people have other ideas as to how this buff can look better? Please don't attack anyone on this thread, Im just looking to start a discussion.

Exactly, filling the screen with random debuffs which newer players don’t understand isn’t simple. Having a character with easy access to good damage is simple. I don’t see a reason for newer players to use him either, there are plenty of science champs who can do what buffed spidey does but better.
Watching Kam's video, I feel like this buff can be saved by 3 things: - damage increase by either unique debuffs or total debuff count (unique is a generic increase, but total debuffs rewards the taunt stacking) - faster webbing buildup (3 webbing / sp1, maybe 1 or 2 webbing / sp2) - slower webbing falloff (if you miss a parry, or the opponent has a long special, those webbings fall off really quickly)
If this is the rework he's getting they might as well leave him as is and move on to Sentry for a buff or another Champion, i think with each buff they should be asking themselves one question... "what is this champ lacking and how can we make him better and make people exciting to pull " not every champ need CGR or red Mags damage but i would take a 6/10 utility 7/10 damage, since a lot of new players would pull this champ make it 8/10 usability. This Buff as is damage so far is below average is more like 4/10 and practical usage is 3/10. Thank goodness this is just a Beta and they have time to go back to the drawing board.

If this buff stays as is, he will still sit in the bench with DPX, waiting for retirement.
