Let's talk about this:

What if Battlegrounds gave everyone the SAME champions at the SAME level and let the thumb tapping do the talking? Just saying, it would eliminate all the account matchmaking issues while aligning with the main point of Battlegrounds, who is the best? its not about who has the best account, its about who is better at fighting.

Even all playing fields and let it truly be the "best player wins" experience

This is how it was the very first time we saw BG's. It was for a tournament, Summoner Showdown maybe. It's a nice idea but like Coppin said, Kabam sells Champions and Rankup Materials in order to fund the game. If these things don't give the player an advantage than what is the point of buying them? Better and higher ranked champions have to give the player an advantage or Kabam has to shift their business model. Did you buy the emote package? Unless everyone suddenly decides that comsetics are what they are going to pay for, nothing will change.

Ranking and leveling up your roster to close to the highest rank (6* r3 and above) is typically done so you can get a competitive advantage over others (similar to AW).

Giving everyone the Same champions with the same level would be nice for a Casual Mode in BGs or Private Matches. However, if BGs is going to remain competitive, giving everyone an “equal opportunity” dilutes the mode.

Of course a large part is down to who has the best account. The entire game centres around growing and building your account .

Yes and no. The same champions means that the competition is based on skill and game knowledge and not money or pure grinding. There are many competitive games that use the level playing field model to high degrees of success. Competition shouldn’t be determined by who can get the biggest advantages. If everyone is using the same thing there’s no complaints of unbalanced matchmaking, it’d literally be determined by the user. People hate on Skill Based Matchmaking, and the ones who complain about that the most are the ones who are extremely skilled and can’t stomp on lower skilled players and have to face competition at their level, which is exactly what almost everyone has said they are want in some form or capacity. Everyone is playing for the same rewards, if everyone has the same deck based on the meta for that season then everyone is on the same playing field.

I actually suggested this idea when bg beta was going on and though i feel it sounds really intriguing the counterpoint was how the game will make profit and also this will kill people’s incentive to rank champs up…
Personally this would actually be quite fun because of the reasons you also mentioned above that it will completely be skill based and not roster oriented. But i do agree with the point that it completely removes the ranking specific champs up part which will be bad for the game

Except then UC players then can freely be matched against top tier paragons without remorse and will be utterly destroyed without remorse since they got UC skill-level. An even playing field without some sort of ELO matchmaking will be worse for the less-skilled players.

Also the people complaining aren't just the high skilled players who want to stomp on others, it is those who realize it would be extremely bad for the game if kabam did that. If BGs was purely skill-based matchmaking with literally just 1 deck layout, it would get so dull and boring. I don't think you realize how much it would suck to face the exact same champions with the exact same strategy 70+ times just to get to GC. Also, it would be bad for the game because BGs is the only reason some people even rank up champions anymore. The people paying to keep this game alive don't need 15 defensive r4s when they only use 5 in AW.

As someone else said, this is a great idea for a bg tourney where skill should be the determining factor of victory and not roster, but this shouldn't be implemented in the main part of BGs.

I wish there was a three star and maybe four star bracket. They could give mostly cosmetic rewards but it would make fights feel a ton more even.

That is about as realistic as making every crystal a wish crystal and making all resources available for 1 gold each. Except people would then complain about running out of gold.

Agreed. I think one of the biggest issues with BGs is that fact that for a large percentage of the playerbase, the only version of the game mode that they can queue into is the most competitive one. Yeah there are friendlies but those require you knowing a specific person playing at the same time. There really needs to be unranked version of the game mode so that people can just play around and have fun, throw some meme champs in, go all 3*s, whatever they want. No one is always in the right mental state to partake in the most cut throat version of a competitive game mode. Sometimes it's nice to just play with less consequence.

If this version doesn't have any rewards then most players won't be playing it. They should host a test of might tournament in BG and to see who is the best of the best with the same deck. Only problem here is that 99% of the summoners will be on the outside looking in. So most summoners won't bother since there chance of winning is almost zero against the top player.

More or less this is what happening now.
Roster progression is mitigated by Prestige matchmaking.
I face the same generic r4/r3 rosters as mine.
Even if I upgrade my champs I will face similar rosters.
So it’s like shooting your own feet, because upgrading mean you will meet more experienced players and stiffer competition.
Battlegrounds are huge mess.

I’m sorry fella to burst your bubble, but you are playing the wrong game.
MCOC is being monetise by selling competitive advantages (rosters), not cosmetics.
You can play Fortnite were grinding or spending in the game, gives only cosmetic and not competitive advantages.

Oh I know. It’s exactly why battlegrounds will inevitably fail at some point in time. When being “competitive” you can’t rely on money alone to succeed. People will eventually see it’s not worth their effort, and it’ll be a very small playground in which only those who want to continue throwing money at it to be the best will stay.

The most successful competitive games of all time are the ones where you can’t pay to win. If the “average” consumer loses the illusion of being able to keep up with the biggest spenders, they’ll stop chasing.
