Extended Attack War Phase - Locking out champions

With the proposed war changes and two day attack phase (as I understand it), will champions still be locked out?

I have always found this to be such a frustrating juggling act when trying to complete other content in the game in a limited amount of time.

Very good question. Champs being locked for two days is not a good change.

Defenders will no longer be locked out of solo content

Wouldn’t it be the same where once you reach the defeated boss node your champs are released? So it’s not guaranteed two days.

True, but you are going to have even lower alliances taking their time to make sure they have the right counters arrive to wrap up the boss section. So unless you don’t care about such things on any level, most likely your champs are going to be locked up longer if it stays the same.

I had not heard this… if this is true that’s a big help.

Your champs unlock individually when you reach the boss node after the boss is down. You’re not stuck waiting for everyone to finish. They don’t have to be picked for anymore time than they were before.

I understand that - but with 2 days, you are going to be more inclined to have alliance members wait at the boss if a specific member has a counter… but they now have 2 days to complete the map instead of a day.

Sure you can plow through the boss but it may cost you doing so.

So I don’t get it… does the community like having their champs locked up?

I think what the community is saying is if this is a concern, alliances can still do the map faster. The only people who will be in the attack phase for more than one day are the players who actually want or need more than one day, which is likely to be a severe minority of players. With no links anywhere but the boss, you only need a few people reaching boss island to clear everything. Everyone else can take however long they want to take.

At the very highest tiers, where war planning is actually a thing, a significant amount of that two days would be spent planning, and until you personally enter the map your attackers aren't locked. So even if the attack phase is two days long, your own attackers will only be locked from the moment you enter until the moment you reach the end, which is likely to be much less than two days (and actually, much less than even one day).

I am not sure I agree that it will affect a small minority of players. Right now there are times in the day I am trying to maximize war energy to make sure I finish where I don’t have the same focus or time as I do at other times.

It’s a net positive for the extended time as I won’t be as inclined to risk a fight unnecessarily since I will have time later.

I just find it odd that the sentiments thus far have mostly been basically “we like our champs locked” - maybe that’s strategic… I don’t know. I don’t like it, but I like that only attackers will be affected in the new setup. Maybe that puts me in the extreme minority.
