This is from the spider-man 2099. The fight was going pretty smooth despite my block not popping and my character dashing forward getting me hit instead of blocking. But hey I’m just bad right it’s not like I wanna make sure Kabam knows what we’re talking about right 🤓
My man how is he supposed to throw special if you either keep holding block or keep parrying him
https://youtu.be/JkxvSCK3WNY More players including Prof hoff have noticed the change in AI behavior, I’m not the only one. So what do you gotta say about them and their community’s experiencing the same thing??
Prof Hoff has always been a conspiracy theorist, so take what he says with a giant grain of salt.
However, in my opinion, the most notable "AI change" has been a change in their recovery time. For example, AI used to get knocked down and get back up/make a move after a certain amount of time. It FEELS like that process is much faster now. Could be a knock-on effect from server latency, though.
Yeeees again, bro I am so sorry if I was harsh to you, you genuinely have a great understanding of the game, and helped me to deal with the AI’s changes alot. And yea I agree, I usually take his vids with a grain a salt, but yea I’ve noticed the AI, even before fully getting up can throw SP 3. But thanks for explaining that very well.
That's OK, I get you are passionate about the issue. But a forewarning for you - you won't make many friends on this forum unless you dial the posts/context back a bit.

I know, tbh I’m okay with no one liking me as long as Kabam, takes notice to the issues in the game, I will try to be more mature and concise about the topics of bugs I talk about, and be more respectful when talking. I just don’t like how other players on these forums harass other players who might think a bug could be how the AI is programmed. Again, though I do apologize to everyone I have offended by the losers comment, it’s not the best approach to get Kabam to approach dealing with AI, but anyway. I hope everyone who commented or seen this forum have a blessed day. Even if you are upset with me. Or my forum.

Yeesh. Prof hoff. He's a conspiracy nut with zero credibility.
I agree that AI has changed. But as for the whole baiting thing, you'll find posts dating years back that AI not throwing specials is a thing. It's not a new issue. Or at all

Tru I just feel like the AI recovers mad fast out of no where sometimes

I agree that AI has changed. But as for the whole baiting thing, you'll find posts dating years back that AI not throwing specials is a thing. It's not a new issue. Or at all</blockquote you’re right, it started about 2 years ago and it’s only a real issue when my controls aren’t working like I want them too. I need to get a recording of it soon, but the bugs I face are my controls not working, like my character just sitting there, or my block not popping, letting the AI beat on me. It’s why it’s been hard to dex, cause when I do my guy just sits there after swiping, and I usually have to close and reopen my game for my controls to work again. I don’t know what the issues and I’m hoping Kabam can find a solution or at least figure out why it’s happening.
You're still in first life with NF. Eat the SP3 and finish the match. This isn't bullying. If you're going to bait specials, don't wait until 2.5 bars of power. You had an SP2 and could have finished him since you can stun off that. I feel like you're complaining to complain because reasons.
I think they are trying to show an example of the issue, not trying to win the fight. We keep being told if we don't record every fight, then we aren't being helpful. And...it should be easy to record if it is really happening that much.
Well, it is consistently inconsistent. But when it happens, it happens. They are at least trying to show the issue. (More than I will do.) Then they are being told, well you should have just done this and won. That wasn't their point.
Oh my gosh. Why haven’t I seen your comment earlier. WHY ARE YOU THE ONLY PERSON to have realized this. God bless you for understanding I was trying to show how flawed the AI was, not win the fight. I didn’t think I would find someone who used their head.

Either way, you weren't properly baiting the special. What you showed was the AI acting as usual. That information can't be used by Kabam for any sort of bug fixing or diagnosing.

How? I dashed into dex and I couldn’t do that anymore, cause the AI had backed me into a corner, i can’t believe I have to explain this again, but my swipe wasn’t working so I had to try and perfect parry, and even then my block wasn’t working even though I was pressing the screen, but Nick just stood there. The AI not throwing SP was not my main gripe. And yes they can still use this, the video along side the screen shots give a clear indication on how long the fight was going. I was able to land a 64 hit combo and everything was going normal, until near the end of the match where my controls stopped working the AI refused to throw anything but SP 3. Why is that so hard to understand?

Your dash back not working properly would be a separate issue that would need to be solved before assuming that the AI must not be working properly. If you can't dex, you can't efficiently bait specials.
1. Although the AI can behave in ways that are extremely difficult to deal with at times, that doesn't mean it is bugged. The AI very clearly has parameters under which it operates, and within those parameters it randomly selects certain behaviors and preferences from fight to fight. Sometimes it is just especially nasty when it comes to using specials. That isn't obviously a case of being "bugged.' The AI might literally be doing that deliberately, or it might be doing that within the intentions of the devs (i.e. they didn't tell the AI to do that, but they allow it to do a range of things and that behavior is inside the lines.).
2. Because different players have different experiences, we all have different ideas of what is "unusual" AI behavior. What I see in this example is not unusual at all - the AI has been doing this since forever. When the AI has more than two bars of power and it has you in the corner, it is less likely to throw specials just to let you out. It tries to "corner" you. That *has* to be deliberate, because that behavior has been around for years, and because it makes sense if you believe the job of the AI is to put up a non-trivial fight.
I think, and I've been thinking about this for a while, we've all been on the wrong track with AI. The players keep reporting the AI as "bugged" or "inconsistent." But it is *supposed* to be inconsistent (i.e. not trivially predictable) and we assume if the AI is nasty it must be bugged. But why? Why assume that the AI is not supposed to fight hard? Why assume the AI is *supposed* to do stupid things to make the fights easier for us?
I think the question should be not whether the AI is bugged, but what the AI is even supposed to be doing. Is it *supposed* to try to fight "smart" and do what we would do in the same situation? Every time someone says the AI is bugged because it is doing X, I often think "so would I." But should it?
That's probably a discussion worth having eventually.
In reference to what the AI should be doing, should AI be able to fire specials before it has fully recovered from the previous combo? When we play the special button becomes inaccessible during the recovery period, that button only comes into play a couple of frames after. But AI seems to be able to get the specials off much faster. Even if our reaction times were super normal, there is a failsafe against us being able to do the same. This is one of the situations where, at least visually, AI doesn't seem to follow the same rules.

exactly, thank you, so many players act like the AI follow the same rules we have too, when that’s not the case. I’m glad more players are asking more important questions, and taking notice to things like this. Thank you for adding something productive and incisive to the discussion.
