In the first instance, I would have thought this is just intended to stop people accepting a match, then putting down their phone and walking away.
If a person doesn't select any champions and doesn't throw a single attack, it's pretty clear they're farming.
If they actually select a champion, play the match but lose; I think it'll be hard (but not impossible) to prove that they've lost on purpose.

If it's apparent to the game team that the wrap-around rewards for their competitive game mode are incentivising players to play in a non-competetive way; wouldn't the best solution be to re-design the reward/incentive system; rather than reaching for the punishment stick?
I'll be the first to say I do this on occasion. I don't play much BGs and often times I'm busy and just want to clear the play 3 objective, though I'll select champs for the most part to speed up the process. The idea they'd threaten bans on people who spend and support their product throughout the years for this is pretty hilarious. Let your customers participate in the product as they like so long as they're not cheating/hacking/stealing etc.
Perfect solution, ban all those cheaters once and for all! Appreciate it!
BG mode concept is to be a „battle for the best-of-the-best“ so loosing on purpose is a shame. You should earn Wins (and Pts) legit and not by stomping noobs which is no challenge at all. Nothing u should be proud of. Manipulated rewards and rankings.
And well, if your Alli is not best-of-the-best, you shouldn’t finish all Milestones, simple.

This healthy change (removing farming), could have become by setting escalating point multipliers through VT and GC tier (similar to war tier based scoring), not by threatening the community with bans. You see there is a big difference on these two ways of approaching the same issue.

If you keep loosing every matchup with 0% vs 100% it’s quite obvious you didn’t even hit a Block.

I wish they'd clarify that. I afk BGs at work to meet alliance requirements. A loss with elders marks is worth ~2500 points. I can afk a match every 15 mins or so and get 75-80k points when I otherwise couldn't play.
I'm not trying to make it easier to win or to exploit the matchmaking system. I'm giving away free wins to others in exchange for alliance points.
This is the only justifiable case anyone has made so far that would warrant a response from Kabam. Kudos to you my man

I would guess they won't care what you do using elders marks. I'm also fairly certain the type of players they will take action on are those with a 100% loss record with energy and a very high win percentage with marks.

That wouldn't prevent farming, that would incentivize people sure but it wouldn't prevent farming, and if you think most of the nerds crying about the announcement would stop farming with this solution you've proposed, you're very wrong lol. So yes, unfortunately this is the best solution, the only other solution would be removing the forfeit option completely but there must be a reason they didn't do that.

You should be able to understand why I said that above. Aren't there new tasks in the lower right corner every two days? The higher you level up, the more difficult it will be to complete those three tasks.

All this hassle.... Smh Why? Cus they wanted to "Monetise" Battlegrounds selling 'Elder marks' for 'solo/ally event'. Top ranks in these events does not show who is more competitive or skilled... The ranks shows who played more matches and who spend more units on buying elder marks. These 'said' farmers exclusively belongs in top 50 BG allinces.
I don't even think the guys trying to reach thier allince min are even farmers, they are more like home gardeners, yes I think that.
As someone thats climbed to Arcane I in the past without a single r5 and r2, let me tell you , you need to be extremely skilled to win even in gamma if your roster is lacking as you’ll be matched against completely stacked rosters.
This was extremely unhealthy for them to ban farming right before an event with a target score of 450k given that we’ll be starting in Platinum due to seeding. At least give marks in GC, or increase the points that marks give or something

If you keep loosing every matchup with 0% vs 100% it’s quite obvious you didn’t even hit a Block.
For that reason he sais "This changes nothing except let the farmers lose more time". U have to play "normal" and when u are going to kill the enemy, u can recibe some hits and die. Kabam can´t confirm that you die intencionaly and the result of the match could be 0% vs 40% or something similar.
Personaly, i hit in every BG around 300k points in solo milestone without farming and mixing some EM and energy. This time i should play all with EM and i think that i will get 450k points with some adicional games.
Kabam created this problem in the first place when made changes to the points earned with Elder Marks. This curency is so pointless, just like Alliance tickets that will be gone soon and the whole porpose was for them to get some cash. but also created problems for the long run. In reality it hurts the community and this game, probably wont take long until Elder Marks to be gone too just like AQ tickets.

Personaly, i hit in every BG around 300k points in solo milestone without farming and mixing some EM and energy. This time i should play all with EM and i think that i will get 450k points with some adicional games.
