Herc having a cheat death mechanic isn’t what makes him broken, lots of champs have that. It’s the fact that Herc’s can be paused nearly indefinitely and it has almost no barrier to use that makes it so overpowered. Serpent’s cannot be paused and, importantly, is conditioned on his Dread charges. So you can’t use it, lose the fight, revive, and use it again. You have to win a fight in order to gain access to it again.

Sigh. Always something with these new defenders. At least he's not immune to nullify or stagger, but removing his buffs fuels his charges so he gets worse even if you counter him.
So it's kinda like Maestro in which nullifying him makes him stronger.

As for counters, I think right now the only solution is Kushala, she can block unblockable attacks if she has one of her spirits active and she has soul barb.

Wiccan is able to block Unblockable hits as well

As @Wicket329 said, this isn’t even close to as powerful as Herc’s immortality, at best it’s similar to Mephisto’s cheat death regen.

Hmmm so another champ that can turn off dexterity oh dear... Time to list down the counters for his unblockable specials: Champs that can block unblockable specials Wiccan(Needs to be awakened against cosmic champs), Shuri(needs to be awakened), Sinister, Kushala, Mordo, Scorpion( Needs awakening & Taunt needs to be active), Stryfe(Concussion needs to be active), Red Guardian, Moleman, Iron Doom(Aura active).

I'm actually pretty hyped for Serpent cause first he's a DLL champ and second he seems to have a lot of potential as an attacker as well. Especially the anti evade/miss,(after true sense I always wanted an ability that would counter miss n evade at once so ) he's definitely piqued my interest with that one

At this point it’s more the point of turning off masteries being entirely overdone at the moment with new defenders. It may not be bad at all but then why is it even necessary to make us eat chip damage. There’s no skill in that.

At least this time it’s tied to the true focus buff, once it’s staggered or nullified, you can dex him. Photon is more annoying as hers isn’t tied to a buff

We’ll see how painful that is to deal with, but I agree it does give us a starting point. It’d probably be less annoying if it wasn’t on the heels of Onslaught, Bullseye and Dust.

Cause every defender without unavoidable chip damage can easily get clapped due to how many champs and abilities we have in the game now, and that's not healthy for game modes like BGs and AW.
If every defender could be 100% countered by skill only then every single defender in the game would suck. I say this cause as someone who never struggles with defenders like Nick or Doom, at least not anymore. Both were once top defenders, not anymore, when you make it so a defender can be 100% countered by skill that defender eventually starts losing value for experienced players because after a certain amount of time muscle memory starts to kick in.

I'm liking the sound of his kit. Seems like my type, however it's a little bit too complicated whereas i like to use simple champions that have a simple kit simple playstyle and great overall performance anywhere in game ( utility, damage, tankiness): here's ibom champion attributes

Serpent is an absolute tank like ibom, however he is made to be used in long form content only: Questing with large healthpools ( act7,8 nercopolis, abyss, lab) and needs to defeat opponents to ramp up( unless against champs with huge armor rating ). Here a look at his

Unfortunately, Wiccan’s neutralize seems to let Serpent rank faster.

It is kind of funny that Serpent is designed to make Kate Bishop useless. Coldsnap immune, bleed potency reduced, crit resistance.

Some of the other Younger Avengers (and Younger champions) seem to be making a good showing against this ancient fear character.

America Chavez will hit hard; Shuri can block unblockables and should still be able to shock for the win.
