Having two accounts means i could play GC and VT at the same time for comparison. They legit knew that it was intercept meta and purposely:

    Gave - Us - Passive - AI.

    LOL

This comment is pretty instructive because it demonstrates the cycle we are in right now where frustration has led to confirmation bias and it has really taken over.

I understand conspiracy theories that we are making AI deliberately harder in content like Summer of Suffering. They aren't true, every SoS fight has had the same AI profile, but I understand why players might think they are true. Harder AI in Everest content = harder fights = more consumables used = theoretically more money for us, at least in the short term.

However the community should be able to take as step back and realize none of those incentives exist for us in Battlegrounds. In Battlegrounds, the more players play, the better it is for our business. The idea that we would deliberately create a harder or more frustrating AI simply doesn't hold water. We have not, the exact same AI profile is applied to both the VT and GC this season. Any perceived difference is just confirmation bias.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying there are no problems with the AI. I personally believe we have some substantial issues we need to address, and I'm hoping we can communicate them more effectively in the coming months. But I can tell you definitively that we aren't making harder AI profiles to target specific metas.
Thanks for responding on a Sunday. For the record, I did NOT agree with the community that the SoS AI was changed (with the disagrees to prove it). The only issue with that fight was that XL champs cannot bait specials effectively. It's the reason I never fight Onslaught with XL champs if I can help it.

This has been known for ages and already claimed to be fixed in an update but here we are. With that in mind, is it surprising that conspiracy theories form?

Even if I take your point that the GC has the same AI profile, the chorus of complaints from the top most players to most of the community is pretty unanimous. If I take your statement as fact (and you've always appeared to be honest), the AI is ridiculous in VT too then. Having the AI reaction rates be at the highest points of human reaction is probably fair but at this point, it definitely feels way before that.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. You are 100% right, the XL champ situation was the main issue with the Onslaught fight. The fact Toad's M1 doesn't move him forwards as much as most other champs was the issue baiting specials in his fight.

You have actually hit the nail on the head here, at least in my opinion. AI recovery time is too fast. We didn't mean to increase it, this wasn't deliberate, but it pretty clearly is recovering faster than it used to. In my opinion, this is the core issue with why the AI feels so much harder than it used to, because it impacts so many different AI interactions. We are working to fix this.
Ironically, I don’t hate the AI getting better, it just makes adaptation necessary to counter it (whether it’s a good idea for non-hardcore players is another issue). I don’t think it needs to be tuned down very much to balance difficulty. Not particularly upset by being shallow evaded or special intercepted since those are results of bad decisions.

But AI should not be recovering faster than the time it takes for the animation to finish. Animation frames + reasonable adjustable reaction time (since player skill is always increasing) would be enough. That plus XL champ fix would go a long way to stop the self-reinforcing feeling of being gaslit. Cheers.

Lol the AI has been like this for a while, definitely not a skill issue. If it was a skill issue this would've been solved a long time ago

And every time i close to has adapted to the new AI. Then another AI update hit and I has tried to adapt to that’s to it getting annoying from my own perspective but probably also annoyed for you guys to fix.

the major problem with the AI, has always been it's inconsistency across devices and with new champions.

spacing being an issue now for triggering specials is just ridiculous, and is there no more QA testing for new champs especially xl to make sure they aren't screwed over during dash backs or having t-rex specials

Gotta ask though Crashed, why wasn't there simply an aggression node added this season?

You said yourself, more players active in BG is better so why not add a simple fix to a problem you are aware of?

Even if the node didn't work, at least you can show you care and want to help out the community, not doing so is just lazy or playing ignorance imo. You knew this meta is one the community wants and is excited for, you knew the AI is **** and passive but have done nothing to try solve the problem?

If you had an aggression node, you would be taking twice as many intercepts. To intercept safely, you need a certain screen distance, which will depend on the size of your opponent, your size, your champion's speed and the range of your attacks.
With an aggression node, it would be easy for you to get cornered against the wall and not be able to intercept.

Yesterday, I was playing EQ. I threw a sp1 with Onslaught, and just after the first two hits, the defender, (Mantis), threw her own Sp1. Right in the middle of my own.

    Explain, This, @Kabam Crashed .

I PERSONALLY really don't care about AI sometimes it's very bad, but years of playing FromSoftware games taught me to just get good and don't cry about the difficulty, to the point that I laugh and take it easy when things like this happens.
That being said I really see the frustration with AI and I know that can be a problem.
To me at least it's not a big convoluted problem to hard to fix, in my opinion this is just simple INPUT READING, the AI reacts based on the player input.
Like when you use your estusk flask and the boss just decides to charge you and impale you.
My theory can be wrong and I'm not a developer, I'm just talking from experience and from what I've seen by playing souls games.

I’m still dealing with INSANE lag spikes in gameplay. I’ve lost so many BG fights because of it. The fight starts and it’s like 6 to 10 seconds till the game catches up and then I’m getting usually getting pounded and the the fights over.

I’m really tired of having to hold block and pray I don’t get smacked waiting for the game to catch up. Maybe I should delete the game and ask Apple for a refund of the money I’ve spent on a continuously broken game.

I have to agree with hungry hippo it’s just very convenient that in certain modes the a.i. is just stupid but you watch yt videos of these supposed top tier players and their a.i. plays perfect for them. you can’t tell us it’s not about the money because it is and whether it’s bad or not people will continue to play because they want those milestone rewards. with that being said it’s about ever time effort and money we have put into this game. i feel its player based a.i. and in battle grounds the drafts are set for who i think is a bigger spender i have had like 20 matches where a certain champ does not get banned but yet never pops in my drafts and its awful convenient they always get their top row champs and i always get my bottom row. i there is something shady going on you can call it a conspiracy all you want but eventually the truth will come out it always does

I see nobody is talking about getting parried when hitting block. So something about the AI did get fixed (I for one never had that problem).
So, one thing fixed, bunch of new issues pop-up. And I am having all of these now: passive ai, dashing back or just walking up, side stepped into a combo, light intercepted, special intercepted (my favorite).

Special intercepts are really noticeable. They don't trigger it when you begin your dash, they wait until you're fairly close and activate it.

I literally had a "oh, it's about to special intercept right now" moment last night. Of course, my own mistake but that's what I get for trying to prevent getting stuck in the corner trying to bait specials... <_<

I think we knew this for a while but glad to hear Crashed say it explicitly - the AI is too damn fast, and has been for months, maybe years. I recall a vivid discussion on the ability of the AI to be knocked down by a heavy, get back up and tag you mid dash, despite you knocking them down and immediately dashing away when your controls were returned from your attackers' heavy animation. There was a quite funny video with Storm Pyramid X doing this to the player like some scene from The Exorcist.

The fact you can't punish certain specials as consistently as you could before is just more evidence of that. The AI is not beholden to the frame rates as we the players are and it allows them superhuman reactions.
