What champion has benefited the most from becoming a 7*?

dr2wsdr2ws Member Posts: 668 ★★★
We’re not talking about champions who were already released as a 7*, we’re talking about Hulks, Surfer’s, Guardians etc.

I would go for Hyperion, with the dupe he is just a cosmic god and had a resurgence.

I'd say Venom as well. Plus with the addition of the Venom relic, he's become one of the most sought-after cosmic champions. I really appreciate how making Venom a 7* really gave him a chance to shine outside of the oversaturated 6* Cosmic pool. Thank you for showing love to my boy Kabam!

Venom or Chavez. I could be misremembering, I don't think people loved her nearly as much until she became a 7*.

Venom imo. Especially with the addition of relics. Plus it’s easier to invest resources to take a champ to R2 than 6* R1-R5A for a lot of people who aren’t frequent spenders in the game.

I left when 6 stars were announced, came back 2 months ago. I'm at Paragon now with 3 (almost 4) 7 stars and I only have 3 6R4 so I could make Paragon. I'm much more likely to save my resources to R2 my 7 stars than R4 any more 6s (unless I start to overflow with resources) and I don't know if I'll end up R5ing any 6 stars unless they're the best ones.

She was buffed when they released as 7*. That's why people didn't used her much before.

Even after buff people didnt use 6 much only until 7 the buff felt powerful

America Chavez and it's not even close
Chavez was very underrated when she got buffed. Chavez benefitted from both the buff and her being in the base 7* pool, there not being many options lead the community to try her out and discover hoe useful she is.

And it also goes to show how well kabam thinks when they design these champions kit. Now we know she wasn't this good that's why she got buffed, they did make her a lot better as her damage and sustainability were terrible pre buff.
Kabam sometimes don't obviously think the best with "SOME" champs kits *cough cough* Dani moonstar.

That being said, alot of champs are slow burners and they may not seem like WOW at first but will definitely live to dominate in the future. A few examples include tigra, spider ham, Kate etc. And a few who got a lil push (buff) from kabam, eg massacre, bishop, mantis etc

A few champs who don't get enough clout now that I can see having longevity in the contest are cheeilth, shatra, BRB, stealthy etc

    We'll see.

Wong. Getting the improved combat power rate right out of the box as a 7 star makes his ramp much less stressful.

I think the main thing with Chavez was the slightly higher power gain rate of 7* smoothed out her rotation by allowing her to do her sp1s with less attacks in between. Makes it so it's one mlllm combo in between all of her specials once you start throwing them. I'm not 100% on what she was like before but she was a lot clunkier. (It's possible higher ranks as 6* granted the same effect, mine was only ever 6r2)

The main thing with Chavez was the buff kabam gave her which increased her floor of damage and her ease of use rotation. Before, her attack increase was set to 9, so you needed the opponent to have 6-9 buffs while you had 3-0 unique dimensions opened to have her max attack. Now the opponent only needs 3-6 buffs for Chavez to reach full potential. That means against buff immunes, she will get half of her ceiling of damage instead of only a third.

I will say that CPR was probably a strong influence as well on her, but probably is more that people don't try champions out themselves and instead just listen to what others say. The predominant YTers I saw said that Chavez was still not great, while also using her incorrectly. Those who used her correctly knew just how good she was. I took her as my first r5 6* prebuff because her double objective run in EoP was my easiest run by far and I really enjoyed using her after that.

The 7* just allowed people to test her out at a much higher level than 6* r1/r2 and many Youtubers and community members have since learned how to use her, and they have shown just how great she is in many different gamemodes. Basically the 7* brought the limelight to people and they're much easier to invest in than a 6*.

IMO I think a lot of people are combining "new as a 7 star" with "got a cool new relic". Guardian is my highest ranked champ, r3 sig 160, but he'd still be super strong as a maxed out 6 star with a hulkbuster relic. The biggest qualifications for "most improved" as a 7 star come down to effectively utilizing base stats and combat power rate, not needing more than sig 20ish, and utilizing stat focus. From this, I would say sasquatch. He only needs sig 20 to become an absolute tank, and his % damage reduction allows his higher 7 star health pool to scale even further. Getting the precision stat focus also increases his crit rating (which is VERY valuable during his s2). Sassy didn't get that much stronger with relics, but just the stat bump and low sig requirement were what made him insane.

That’s the thing with Chavez, people didn’t know how to use her effectively since she was relatively new when 7* came out. Venom nothing changed other than the venom relic. If they didn’t exist as 7*, or if all 6* champs were released as 7* versions at the same time, I would say most people would invest resources on Chavez over venom. The limited pool of 7* at launch allowed venom to get his moment. People would have figured out Chavez sooner or later especially with serpent coming in

Chavez being relatively new is a funny thought considering she arrived the same month as herc.

Venom benefitted greatly from the CR boost which increases crit chance. He has always been a beast and I have loved him ever since his buff in 2018. Just power curve put him under other cosmic champions until the venom relic came. That relic is a huge boost to his DPS, I love it.

I meant the Chavez buff was relatively new, not Chavez as a champ 😅

I think it’s Venom and Chavez as a close second, I think Overseer is the 7* that fell that flattest. A lot of people were excited for him from the base pool but he’s almost never seen anymore.

Overseer is just one of those champs where they are good at what they do and are good in other scenarios, but there are just better science champs so he’s not used as nuch.

    BMcG has a sig 200 r3 Overseer

I don't think there's any accurate answer that isn't wong. Went from a few youtubers saying he was fine but took a little long to get going and no one actually trying him out to being able to solo entire necro paths once people had one that they didn't have to rank up to be useable
