The fear/thought of losing it all

Hi. I'm a Summoner.

Since I started forum. The most thing that appear is accounts getting ban or worst actually getting banned.

There should be list of potential methods of being banned whether is by accident and by actually cheating.

The idea of getting banned ia building up anxiety for me cause "what i bring favourite champ to a special that they shouldn't win or worst jumping from slide (game) to slide(Spotify, Gallery, Social media) on my phone for a quick break or just.... Idk.

The way the forum has banned fears displayed here is really scaring me and bad part is I just want to play and leave title tjat comes some mind into my head with feel like did win a fight illegal cause others say you can't wait would this champion or you shouldn't win with that champion.

P.S.: this is coming from other general discussions not me personally on the banned account. It's just... what if it was you, think about it.

    There is a list of some of the stuff here, but a-lot of it is based on common assumption. If you aren’t meant to do something, don’t do it, and don’t attempt to do it.

    Don’t use mods or cheats.
    Don’t share accounts, or give out account details. (at all).
    Don’t use mercs (people who go on your account to progress for you)
    Don’t exploit, even if its a bug.
    Don’t discuss leaks (at all).
    Etc.

    There is also different discord rules, which appear once you first join.

    Punishment is subject to kabams discretion, and the severity / repeat offences.

    Or you can just message any mod and ask them if what you are doing is allowed.

    As long as you pray to RNGesus and stay loyal to Kabam (ex: not cheating), you’ll be just fine

    You’ll find a common theme among the people that post on here about their accounts that got “unfairly banned” they also tend to lie and downplay their role in how it happened. Cheaters who also lie? who knew.

    However, we have also encountered false negatives, such as individuals who were banned while playing on the beta server. There was another person who was unjustly banned, and no one believed it. So, it does happen, but the general reaction of the people is negative.

    However, there's a difference in those posts. Go find the one about the beta and read it. The overall reaction of the forums was actually plenty of people trying to help the OP because he explained the situation. The overwhelming majority of players that come here to cry about bans don't share any reasoning, they just claim they did nothing wrong and say they want their account back and then as the rest of us ask questions it eventually comes to light that they knowingly did something wrong.
    The last beta was buggy, so that's a pretty significant one-off when it comes to false negatives and it isn't really a good example of a false-negative happening.
    We can also remember another person in that same period of time that claimed to have gotten banned because of the beta, but then it turned out that they shared their account so a data miner could pull info from it.

    Too many people crying wolf, maybe 5% are legit summoners who didn’t cheat

    In my time on forums there has only been one instance where I've seen someone genuinely unjusticely banned and that was just after new necro cheat detectors I think

    Stay away from account sharing. A lot of players used to do that back in the days, when they played AQ/AW and some ally member went on a holiday…and that didn’t end well…

    There are quite a few ways to answer this, but rather than trying to explain why *not* to merc, perhaps a better perspective is why merc *at all*?

    So someone can have a better progression and roster, for a game they haven't even really played?

    To pay money in order to get an advantage, instead of just buying CW deals or something?

    In a way, any defense of merc-ing can also be made for modding - if you don't see the detrimental effect it has on the game's ecology (and thus economy), just think what it would look like at scale. People already complain about facing whales in BGs, imagine what it would be like if there were a sudden (or even gradual) infestation of merc-enhanced accounts. Endgame content would become untenably difficult, and any forecasts on how to navigate future pipelines would be skewed.

    Also, it's just not in the spirit of gaming - play the game, enjoy the game, the journey is part of the fun

    Using a mercenary in an RPG is like two childhood friends competing to build a treehouse:

    Four things:

    1. Mercing is in effect assigning a real world cost to in-game rewards. You are not supposed to do that. It is against the TOS to sell accounts or in-game resources. Doing that creates the problem of the developers having to design and balance the game around an out of game economy where their rewards are bought and sold based on market forces outside of their control. If the devs have to do that, they have to, say, set the difficulty of Necropolis compared to its rewards based on how strong the mercs are and not how strong the players are. Anyone not using a merc would then be at a severe disadvantage. This is an entire constellation of problems most game operators do not want.

    2. Mercing by nature requires account sharing. A principle of the TOS is you are responsible for any actions taken on your account. Kabam does not want players appealing bans and other discipline by saying “I didn’t do it.” They don’t want to have to prove you did it. If it happened, you did it. Endorsing mercs is endorsing a form of account sharing that opens the door to players complaining that they are being punished for the actions of other players.

    3. Mercing is a gateway to other cheating. Mercs often use mods and other cheats because they have a financial incentive to do so. I would bet the percentage of mercs caught using mods and other cheats is vastly higher than that of the player population at large. Whenever you allow a financial incentive to break the rules, you will see a dramatic increase in rules breaking.

    4. Mercing is an undesirable activity in general. The game operators want players who actually want to play the game. They don’t want players who are only here to make money off the game, or have that as a significant motivation for being around. Kabam doesn’t want to cater to merc interests, merc feedback, merc social interactions. F2P games supported by microtransaction based monetization are very carefully crafted balances between different player interests, and none larger than the balance betweeen the F2P players and the spenders. Having to deal with the “amateurs” vs the “pros” is just a completely unnecessary additional problem space.


    To be honest though, while those are all good reasons to prohibit mercs, I’ll bet such discussions almost never even come up in most game studios. If you ask almost any game studio that runs a game as a service “do you allow mercs in your game” the answer will almost always be “of course not” and when you ask them when the meeting to discuss that happened, I would bet you’ll be told there was no such meeting, because that would have been an absurd question to warrant taking up everyone’s time on.

    You don’t make games to have people pay other people to play them. Anyone who asks “why” to that probably doesn’t pass the job interview.
