Balance Program Batching Timeline

While I’m happy to see that Patriot is getting a tuned up, the timeline for it is beyond reasonable.

Leader and Patriot were released in July 2024. We get news of rebalancing in December, and due to knew “batching” his balance will be out sometime close to summer? Did I read that right?

So close to a year before the final version of the champion is available?

I get this will be in flux a little because of when the evaluation windows vs batch windows etc… But these timelines for balances are getting out of control.

Batching the balance of a champ and waiting until you have 3 ready to push out… I get it saves dev time for other things…. But People drop $100 or grind weekends away to buy/earn a champion that will remain in limbo for a 9 months to a year? How is that far to the player base ?

It's better than getting nothing at all. We still have champs from 2014-2016 that are so old and outdated and have never been buffed even once. Yet people shelled out money for them too. The devs can only do so much.

I’m sorry but that’s a cop out. 2014-2016 champs aren’t being sold with the promise of a balance program like the newer champs have been. Every time they fall behind the previously announced timeline for balancing, they just change how the program works.
Which, again is entirely within their right. They don't have to actually balance any of them if they don't want to. They reserved that right in their terms of service. So just be thankful they are doing it at all.

    Keep making excuses for them.

It's not excuses man. It's literally written in their terms of service. My advice to you, either actually read them or get over it. Take your pick.

If they are planning to retune six champs per year, that’s 25% of the annual pool. Considering that they only touch the champs that the community perceives as severely underperforming, that effectively means one in four of the new champs are bad / forgotten / unusable.

Maybe it’s a shift in their design philosophy and they never want to release any OP attackers. Or maybe it’s a design problem and that team needs to step it up. Either way, I agree it’s good they’re doing it, but it sure seems slow when you consider the majority of the retunes are just adjustments to values already in the kits.

Another question unanswered by the post on"Changes" https://forums.playcontestofchampions.com/en/discussion/384097/updates-to-the-champion-balance-program#latest

Maybe I've missed it on a livestream or something, so I'm asking: has Kabam ever actually said anything about rebalancing of the Deathless champions? (And potentially the Eidols, next year...)

Whilst Deathless Guilly did get an announcement of 'she's fine', there's never been any announcement of them saying they've looked at Deathless King Groot. And of course, it feels important that they take a look at Deathless Vision...

yeah its weird that they need to wait for another 2 champs to suck so they can balance them all together in one "batch" but at least maybe now they'll have time to do proper buffs and make an actual good change in the champ. as long ss they release good champs from the start it shouldnt be an issue

After guilly I believe they mentioned somewhere that they wouldn't be done on a schedule and would be done as and when they time, likely after thanos is released so their full potential can be seen

So as a quick re-cap, the main changes will be:

    - Re-Tune will no longer happen 6 months post-release, but will instead be released in a “Batch” twice a year.
    - “Batches” are capped at 3 Champions.
    - Champions will be considered against each other, and their updates impact when selecting who is included in a “Batch.”
    - Expect more Reworks and Overhauls to existing champions in 2025!
So, now the "lower mid" champions will lose out to "trash" champions in terms of the queue for a buff?

We'll have to see what how this timeline lines up with the new Titan pool updates.

The slower buff rate means that the Early spenders will have to risk considering whether to rank a champion or not, while the slower Titan pool updates means that FTP players will have a good idea of whether to rank up the champion once they get their hands on them?
