Do you think the New Updater Sigil is worth it ?

I’m just hoping it gets updated when it needs to be.

I personally will be getting it since I already grind arena and this probably the next best thing to buy instead of $5 unit card.

What is your thoughts?

I was gonna awaken my 7* Sigil witch but now I can save torwards a titan crystal.

If you're someone that runs arenas a lot, any improvement will be worth it. I would imagine it won't be good enough of an update to change the tune of people that have said it isn't worth it for awhile.

Long term if you really think about it.
The 10k deal is better than the 5 dollar unit card.

the 10k is better to buy when you get 70.

One of the worst store updates of all time. The prices are absurd for crystals.

Personally, I think the 10% boost to gold, glory, loyalty, incursion artifacts, and trophy tokens alone makes it worth it. Kick in the ~380 units per month (300 per month, 20 per week) above and beyond the trade in stores and QoL additions and it is a no-brainer for me personally.

Waiting to see how many units and other things you get as compensation for your 365+ days of sigil which will be canceled.

Kinda annoyed they didn't put the boost on battlechips too, but I guess I get it.

It wouldn't have been a crazy amount of units, but for heavy grinders it could have doubled the unit haul per month from the Sigil, which was probably a bit too much there.

I just buy it for arena express anyway which I find infinitely better than recoil if you don’t want to keep switching masteries.

I don’t see any compensation for that disappearing for two weeks.

It’s just an exploit fix masquerading as an upgrade, now summoners can’t do the 6 week trick.

Sigil rewards have been outdated for a while so all the “extras” you’re seeing are just things added to keep up with the inflation of the games economy, nothing special in it whatsoever.

It’s still worth it for the arena express enjoyers, I mean that’s really the number one reason most people buy the Sigil.

You think they were that concerned about an extra 150 Units per 6 weeks? They're not going to devise a covert rework and lie about it over that. Honestly, it's like logic leaves the building sometimes.

I also doubt that being the sole reason for this update, but I’m sure it added motivation to going with this restructuring rather than simply updating it.

I mean this is the same team that felt the need to fix Kingpin after his use nosedived. So it does feel in the realm of posible since there isn’t that much space between an exploit fix and bug fix.

I’m sure there is maintenance and economic benefits to this model as well but big fixes like the Kingpin one kinda refute your point.

I just want to know about the process of unsubscribing thru the web store, not a big fan of auto pays.

I think this is unlikely; if this was a material motivating factor, as this would be a revenue-affecting factor it would have almost certainly happened long ago.

My suspicion is that the conversion to a true subscription from the pseudo subscription thing the Sigil is now is simply friction. The current Sigil is something you have to make a conscious decision to buy every month. Actual subscriptions are things that renew automatically and you have to make a conscious decision to cancel. That means you will get more revenue from subscribers for the simple reason that there's always a gap between "decides to cancel" and "decides to repurchase."

We always tend to overestimate the number of players who will spend significant time trying to act efficiently. I would guess the vast majority of players who keep the Sigil up continuously do so continuously and do not try to game the system to squeeze the extra weeks out of things. So that represents a tiny amount of revenue to Kabam. The revenue they are likely to get from players who subscribe to the new Sigil, and then forget about it completely in terms of not continuously reviewing whether to resubscribe over and over again probably dwarfs that by an order of magnitude or more.

I’m aligned with your suspicions about the main drivers. I just don’t think it’s insignificant enough to be a non factor either. Cherries on top and all.

I doubt they woulda changed things for only this reason but I’d have been surprised if they didn't close that exploit given the opportunity

"Closing the exploit" so to speak comes automatically by force by making the Sigil a true subscription. So it is difficult to say to what degree Kabam was motivated to change that, because by in large they had no choice but to close that loophole. There's no real way to make a normal monthly subscription that doesn't close that loop hole.

In other words, I'm guessing they are happy that loophole was closed, but they did not need to expend any thought or effort to make it go away once they decided to turn the Sigil into a true monthly subscription.
