I apologize Northstar, I wasn’t familiar with your game

So NS was buffed a few days ago and I was a little disappointed with him (mostly due to the pauses not lasting longer) and I wasn’t getting great damage off the sp1 to maintain the pauses.
Well it turns out that the reverb damage was bugged (again) and not giving 1/3 of the extra damage you were supposed to get, which made the sp1 at max ramp and general sp2 damage still feel a bit lacking. It’s since been fixed and well...now he hits like an actual truck (I think both BmcG and Rebellow have good posts on that so go check that out).
The sp1 reverb now slaps like it was originally intended too and you get some really good damage. I tried him against ROL WS (not really intended for this level of HP) but he actually does pretty good there (r2 just NS nothing additional). The increased burst and prowess potency at lower levels (and the fixed reverb) means he can actually do some good numbers without ramping much at all so back to back sp2 killed him. Tried him against ROL cap marvel too (no class advantage and no armor break this time) and he could burst down 370k with those 2 sp2’s in around 53 seconds as well (enough to kill any BG healthpool rn) so while he’s not intended for it, I’m kinda curious if he’ll be decent there
Overall, he’s actually hitting hard now and the ramp is short. I still wish the sp1 pause was more reliable, but for longer fights sp3 will have your pauses sitting at 30+ the entire fight. You actually get big damage off the sp1 now since he was bugged before so even going for that to maintain pauses isn’t a big deal
Not trying to overhype him here, he’s definitely gonna be solid now and can nuke the healthpools he was intended to nuke pretty quickly without ramping for 10 minutes. He still has no persistent charges but since you can ramp him fast now it doesn’t really matter anymore. Most players have done Necro so you probably won’t find any immediate use for him but he’s (imo) a good Everest level champ now. Ik NS isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I’d say give him a shot maybe now that he’s been fixed
Rotation for short fights:
- Build to sp2, trigger speed burst
- Launch sp2
- Combo into another sp2 (you’ll be at 1.5 bars after the first one)
Rotation for longer fights:
- Combo till sp3
- Trigger speed burst, throw sp3
- sp1 for pause, sp2 for reverb
- Spam whatever specials now, just keep stacks up
Or:
- Build to sp2 and trigger speed burst
- Throw the sp2, use sp1 to pause
- Repeat
I also saw a really good post on the Reddit Mcoc page yesterday where someone left a pretty detailed guide and some damage numbers (that was pre bug fix too) so I’d recommend checking that out. He also goes crazy with the horseman synergy and the pauses are now a breeze to keep up and maintain. Looks like a really solid contender for the next piece of Everest content and I’d recommend him for the mutant challenge

Just a minute, someone will answer you 👍
I was just trying to say that he’s actually good for what he’s intended for now and not a mid ramp character that takes a while to hit respectable numbers. The ramp now being really really fast is nice. Hopefully Necro 2.0 favors him and he gets some use from people
So many disagrees already lol. Not saying NS is the greatest thing ever but people are already locked into him being trash that they won’t even give him a chance 😭
Previously it was very stressing to fight him and you literally cannot throw sp2 without losing prowesses. But the now the loop is clean. Sp3 + two sp1s, then you can throw 4-5 sp2s before refreshing the prowesses, all of them dealing insane damage. I just wish the prowesses pause during special 2 without consuming the existing pauses. He is definitely a great champ for necro mutant challenge
Step 2 people hoard for next titan
Step 3 titan rotates out
Step 4 buff said bad champs
Step 5 fomo achieved
I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot more of Northstar in the future.
In contrast, until this point Northstar hasn't even been a name talked about for the mutant necropolis Carina's challenge, and he's already got a rep as the worst buff to release this month. Idk if he'll last 2 years to the next Everest content.
He does very very well in long-form content after the buff, I think he's going to age pretty well over time
