Controversial Opinion - 5 Dealthless Champions are an amazing Quest team - That is 5 Years Outdated

Hello fellow Summoners,

While opinions of how good individual Deathless champs (apart from Dealthless Thanos) are can be different from players to players, I would say that most would agreed that as a full team they are absolutely amazing, with answer to most Nodes and challenges.

After completed the Carina Deathless challenge and awaken Thanos, I was so excited to take full awaken team out for some questing....and this when I realised that fundamental flaw with Kabam design of the team and Kabam "modern questing" design. There no current or monthly (with regular rewards) quests to use the team on.

In "recent" time:-

* Story Quest and M Event Quest have been designed with Class base, a path would have a design for players to bring a certain class to counter

* Side Quest - Are again similar, 1 class per path and usually you can only 3 champs on a team (sometime even just 1 champ per team)

* Special "Saga" Quest - AW Showcase is 4 champs per team, with specific tag requirement. This monh Glorious Games are Science only and Tech only.

* AQ & AW - is only 3 champs per team

So apart from revisiting very old content with no rewards just to have a bit of fun, the is no content for the Deathless team. Of course Kabam will release newer Everest content, but that will be far in-between.

It is just shame, for players to have spent year towards this, and it is an amazing team, to essentially do nothing with the team.

    I fully agreed, the Deathless team is not the issue. I really enjoy using the team.

    The is the questing design that doesn't match with the team.

    Would be nice if Kabam shake the MEQ up a bit.

    I think this is a very good post and is providing insight to a legitimate issue with Kabam's current design patterns and their respected flaws. I do like a diversity of different approaches being necessary for content completion, but, like you mentioned earlier in your post, standard run in the mill quests are also fun. The problem is, again, like you've outlined, in a standard questing environment, if you restrict what you can do to very specific classes , tags or "saga's", then you really do make it so that you can't really ever run your favorite teams/synergies without some super tedious/arduous experience, ergo, trading fun for efficiency, which really takes away the fun from a game and makes it feel more like a job.

    I actually really think this is a good post and not sure how to address it as far as a solution goes but for the people that do make these types of decisions at Kabam, I hope they see this @Fryday . I personally really, really like the Deathless team (after Deathless Guillotine, I will have all of them at rank 3) but aside from Realm of Legends, there really isn't too many places I can use the full team effectively. This is a subtle problem, but nonetheless, definitely worthy of being brought up. I personally hope they can think of a way fix this (maybe standard side story has simpler nodes with bigger health-pools? I mean, if the rewards are nothing too brag about, why make the fights something to complain about?). In any case, good post dude!

    Hopefully Kabam reads this post and start making content for the Deathless team to excel. Maybe end game monthly quest using on Deathless champs or special events that you can only use them. I still need to get Deathless King Groot before I try for Deathless Thanos but it would motivate me to grind for units to get Deathless King Groot faster. Great write up @friday

    I just did the monthly quest with the full team, and they’re amazing (Shehulk r3, the rest r2). It’s pretty cool not having to swap out characters for each quest.

    I went into the abyss and am having a blast. Got to HTD without even trying. Sure the content maybe 4 years old, but still.

    Even the deathless aside, the game has moved on from a 5 man questing team that clears all content. Each path requires specific characteristics

    I don't have the deathless team but this is part of the reason why I haven't felt compelled to chase after them.
    I don't think the class nodes need to change, but the deathless team fully formed (and maybe awakened) should have some kind of superiority or immunity so that they always get the advantages of class nodes. It would be a nice reward for the hoops people have jumped through to get all 5.

    Tbf, i think they’ll probably design quests for the team to excel in sometime down the line.

    I noticed while doing 9.2 beta that a lot of path work really well for newly released champs. Even a path that worked amazing for leader and his utility. It may not have been intentional, but if it is, i think we can fully expect to see some sort of path down the line that utilises the team again.

    I actually like their current questing formula, i never have to rely on one champ; I get to use multiple champs, which makes the game fun.

    Agree with others and OP.

    The main issue is that questing now is overly reliant on class counters within certain lanes. The default design is tired and boring.

    Kabam really need to address this ASAP. Instead of incentivising us to play a terrible game mode(s) with XP, just make it better ffs

    the nodes change every month, but rarely does a champ cover the quests node throughout the year consistenly

    The problem especially with story and event quest is kabam killed off the questing team, i.e. the like of going with corvus and co or ghost and the quantum synergy to do anything apart from any hard ones.

    now the quests paths are super specialized for a character or a set of characters and the bosses too, so any team that would like to be questing would need a lot of damage and utility to be able to reasonably do every path just as a team

    I agree - this is an issue; although it could be fun to play around in the Abyss/Gauntlet with them. And there's nothing to stop you taking three Deathless champs into War/Incursions.

    The lack of five-member team quests makes it even more of a shame that they've chosen to put vital utility into synergies, making the individual champs much less useful: When they brought out Deathless Guilly, we literally begged then to put something on her SP1; even just a Stagger or Nullify. But no, that had to go into a synergy...

    That's why players like myself who are missing deathless pieces aren't rushing to get the 10-year carina challenges done ASAP. I have 7* duped DL She-Hulk and Vision. I'm missing 1 piece for gully and 2 for KG, but no FOMO here as I can wait a year or two for the the deathless pieces to reappear. Plus I prefer to keep my units for something else.

    I honestly think Deathless Thanos should have been superior class and for him to get whatever class benefits there are on story and event class paths, that would be awesome

    Thanos really is a monster. He is able to get down 5 million healthpools without breaking a sweat.


    And guilly is super OP for Hyperion and Champion. I remember them being very hard on my original runs due to unstoppable. Same goes for venom the duck. Her buff control is insane. The neutralize lasts for a ridiculous amount of time

    Which path you took? I took imiw path and hulk rags was a headache. Also thanos regen is insane I stay at 100% despite taking multiple hits.

    I went through darkhawk. Took joe champion, , HTD, and loki. Luke was a joke. Darkhawk was taken by KG at r 1. You can keep hitting his autoblock and get upto even 14 furies.

    He takes less than 5 mins to kill 5 million health. It's hilarious

    Got to the collector and stun chained to death. Yaay.

    Super tanky though. Even if the entire team might not be viable, Thanos is going to be.

    I believe the issue is the general lack of questing content. MCOC is mostly focused nowadays on PVP content such as BGs and war and as such you can’t really use a full deathless team.
