Necro 10 Year Challenge Help

Sir_GlobalotSir_Globalot Member Posts: 226 ★★★
Hi all!

I'm currently hoarding revives like Smaug hoards gold in order to save up for a 10 Year Necro run, but I need some help - most guides just say to use Wong, but I suck with Wong and really struggle to ramp him. So, I need a team that doesn't include him. I've posted my 7* roster - can anyone please advise which champs are good for which fights? (Air-Walker haunts my nightmares)...

Thanks!

I used symbiote supreme for air walker and nova as he cooks aswell.

I used Sentry as my main, a long with Chee, Vox, Spam and Wiccan. I don't personally enjoy Wong's playstyle, so I opted for the Sentry route and while it may not have been as good, is was good enough and I enjoyed doing the content more.

Is the challenge doable with 6r5 ascended Sentry? I just pulled him as 6 star.

Doable, yes, but it will cost a bit more. Slightly lower damage, lower block proficiency, and a shorter timer, but still doable. Should still be able to get some solos in there.

No sentry sucks. Sucks even more as a 6*.if you have 6* wong though, you can definitely use him.

I personally won't be using Sentry but I really can't use Wong anywhere near as effectively as everyone else - the spells fall off far too fast for me to use, so it'll have to be a mix of the other champs!

Chee for Titania, Wiccan for Vision and Airwalker, Vox for Omega etc - should be ok??

Wong ain’t that’s hard to ramp.

I think you will be okay with that group. I did a lot of it with Wong but I find him annoying as hell to play.

Wiccan did Aarkus and Omega for me (very well). I would take that Photon along too. I used her for Wiccan on the path and she chipped in on other fights too.

So the planned team is likely Chee, Wiccan, Photon, Vox, and Ironheart. Thanks all! :)

Thank gosh for everyone here that's the same as me and in extension, OP for making this post. I thought I'm the only one struggling with Wong. I'm practicing, but do I not have the motivation to continue

For people who use Wong, does he need to be duped?
  • Will3808Will3808 Member Posts: 3,985 ★★★★★
I’d reference this if you want to use sentry. Use the same team with cheelith instead of black cat. 7* wong is definitely the best option for this challenge, but if you for sure can’t use him, 7* sentry is your best bet. https://forums.playcontestofchampions.com/en/discussion/386645/necropolis-a-sentry-experience#latest

@Soumemiakas1926 definitely don’t use 6* sentry. I used the 7* and a 6* wouldn’t have enough time to ramp properly.

That's my issue; I appreciate he's a monster for this, and people have done some amazing things for him, but I just can't seem to get it! Sp1 to get the buffs, then sp2 to refresh after heavy charge but sometimes the opponent just doesn't play ball and all the ramp just slides off :( it's a skill issue, I know lol

I brought Wong when I did the challenge, but I didn't end up using him all that much since I was fairly bad at playing him. Instead, my two MVPs were Chee'lith and Adam Warlock. I brought Wiccan for some of those pesky reverse control fights/phases, and then finally Vox who ultimately proved rather unnecessary.

Both Chee and Adam can pump out absolutely insane amounts of damage.

That being said, Wong really is amazing in there. While I didn't use him for a lot of fights, I managed to solo Nova with a full yellow bar and was ecstatic about that since he was always one of those revive sinks for me in all of my other runs.

For all of my previous runs, Nova used the most revives of any fights except the boss. But I was also able to solo him with Wong. It was nice.

Is there a Wong trick i'm missing? I've tried to use him like guides online but it seems so AI dependent

Just practice throwing heavies in the air and chaining with sp2. Once you set up 4-5 spells you'll gaind your wong charges like crazy, and when holding heavies you'll gain a lot of power consuming these charges. If you throw a sp2 after heavy it is unblockable so opponent won't be able to hit you.

Make sure you have Wiccan so Wong’s spells last longer.

Practice wong in rol. Cheap way to get familiar with his icons and doing heavies

Titania was the hardest fight for me to keep his spells up, so I'd say practice on Odin if you're having trouble. I had never used Wong before Necro.

Mine was duped, which helped a tiny bit. I would build up three of the same spells, then switch to the next spell, build up three, then the final spell. I didn't try switching between them. If the spells were about to fall off, I'd just hold a heavy and launch a sp2 while holding heavy. I also didn't watch any guides so I don't know if this was optimal, but it worked for me.

    Wong can do all fights

So I used him in ROL and managed to get him to 2 charges each whilst heavy charging into sp2s, but the damage didn't seem amazing? My issue with some of these Necro fights is the node, such as Airwalker's power gain

    Always get the max charges
With wiccan synergy you shouldn’t have a problem keeping them up

Just tested mine, r3 no boost no class advantage
At full charges, he was doing 4.5k burst on basic hits
23k+ burst on sp2 hits, each normal hit of sp2 was doing 15k (30k on crit) and each energy hit was doing 20k (40k on crit)
    So around 250k each sp2
And at max charges you can spam them and regen from it

An issue I was having with Wong was starting with the blue spell, which increases initial damage but makes it harder to ramp. Start with yellow (you gain charges when hitting opponent), get 2 extra then get all 3 green then blue, it makes the ramp so much easier. I did this run earlier this week and didn’t have any issues ramping once I started with Yellow.

I recently did it with, Wong, Adam, Vox, Wiccan, and Photon.

The first half is terrible, but Wong payed off on the Apoc path and got me a couple solos. Air walker is a complete **** show.

?? Wong can solo almost every fight on first half. Also he can remove air walker charges with his sp3, in case you don’t get the solo

Can Wiccan work against Air Walker too? Neutralize etc?
