Why I am finally quitting after 8 .5 years of playing

Pwner89Pwner89 Member Posts: 13
I want to talk about why I am quitting the game and I also want to know if anyone feels the same or similar?

I began playing this game before I even met my wife and had kids. I now have a family. I remember playing when I was in my previous relationship and people would notice I was playing a game a lot. It was embarrassing because I just wanted to leave and play. I would play everywhere. I would take breaks while driving uber and play. I would play anytime I had free time. I began spending money on the game. I have probably spent more than 8000 dollars since 2016. I don't know if there is a way to actually find out but to be honest I am embarrassed to even know. If my wife knew this we will argue for sure. It's one of those secrets that I have and no one else even knows. Not even my best friends. It's just so embarrassing trying to justify this to someone who doesn't play MCOC and has gotten into it like me and many others in this community.

I have 6 million hero rating, 26.4k prestige, 14 rank 3 7 stars, I got the main annoying and awesome characters like onslaught, bullseye, serpent, titania, Shang-chi, hulk, domino, pens, ebony, etc. I haven't playing in 2 months and have literally no desire to progress anymore.

These are my reasons. I am tired of always waiting for KABAM to make the changes we as players always want. I know this is not always going to happen but I feel we are constantly fighting and they kind of respond but not really. Then they make changes and we feel, meh, okay not bad. Then we go through this time where we play because we have fun and we are just playing through all the BS even though there are constant problems in the game. We all know what is happening with the boycott and the response from kabam with Dev. If you know you know.

The only way that I will return, but I know 100% this is not happening, is if KABAM refunded us a good chunk of money from what we have spent. The reason I say this is because there has been so many times that they release a champion, we then spend on events trying to pull the champion and get resources in order to rank up and sig up. Then they make changes without even asking us and then the money we spent is a huge waste because our intention was different. Isn't that a scam? How would you feel if you bought a ps5 pro, then some games, the Sony decides to make the system slower and then make some changes in the way the games are played? I would probably be mad and want my money back. Well that doesn't happen with Kabam.

How many rewards from different parts of the game are outdated and are actually a joke? Monthly event quest for example. These rewards should get updated every 3-4 months. By now they should give at least a few generic sigs for 7 stars, a full 7 star, and some titan shards. Then no one would say that playing the monthly is a waste. I know Dev said that if everything gets updated like this then players would feel they have to do everything. Not true. Look at the way it is now. When I played, I only played BG and that's it. Maybe the side quest but those are confusing and underwhelming all the time. I didn't feel I have to play everything.

Look what is happening now, they are finally gonna make some changes because of the boycott, but are they going to compensate us for more than 20 months of outdated BG rewards? NO. So if they make changes now, they can be cool, but we got screwed for so long already. We would still be behind when it comes to getting the stuff we deserve for our time. Then they want us to spend on the 4th of july event coming soon. Then people get excited and forget about all the BS and then we continue the whole cycle again. Dude I am tired of this ****.

This is just crazy and I am so, so exhausted with the constant back and forth from the community and constant less-than-satisfactory responses.

I know people like Legacy want good changes to happen because he needs MCOC for his YouTube channel since that is his job.

I don't depend on MCOC. Peace out.

I know it might seem like I am trying to make people feel bad or sorry for me. Trust me, I'm good lol. I am just seeing how many people feel a similar way. I can "announce" that I will retire after dedicating so much time to this game. Absolutely I can.

For Demonzfyre, They have been running this game successfully also in part because these are Marvel characters. I didn't say we need to control them, but most of the time it seems as though they make small changes but just enough to keep players in.

Well Sony cannot, but Kabam can, and then have.

What a a coincidence that after a boycott is announced, they respond with a huge post. Money talks. That's my point. We will see what happens as time goes by because I know I am not the only one.

Marvel characters is not what keeps this game alive. Regular updates, somewhat diverse game modes and ease of access a player has in this game keeps it alive. Also replayability. So many people have alt accounts just to go through again and create challenges for themselves.

As I mentioned in another post, what's there to boycott right now? There's no spending events, there's no new content really, there's no holiday event, so what would you boycott? As I said in the other post, this was much less a boycott than it was an uprising of getting heard and affecting change with feedback. It's not the first time it has happened either.

And they say you framed what you said, sounds like you want to control what Kabam does because you think they don't do what you want as a player. When in fact, very rarely should they do exactly what players want. You want R3 this or Herc as a 7* or 7* AGs in MEQs. Much of what many players lay out aren't actionable because they will lead to the demise of the game. The actual downfall and not the pretend one every month.

Quitting as a form of punishment to a multi-million dollar company is always effective. This is why I quit smoking and Philip Morris is going out of business. Wait....

It's not "punishment," it's about getting tired of the back and forth and Kabam not delivering. They always do small changes that we just basically 'suck-it' up and keep on playing. But then for what? The fun is not there anymore. The cycles are always the same.

They depend on players spending, so talking about how Kabam doesn't follow up or make changes after you spent money is totally okay. Now sure, we don't HAVE to spend, but when offers are made for specific champions or ranking, then they make changes to those champions... That is some BS. That is not okay.

I can totally relate to this part, I WAS like this...now very casual gaming, do what I like. The only place in game that I go in regularly for playing is ROL, that removes my mcoc itch for a while, take some champs I still like, for a spin and then logout...thats it...its sounds wierd but true...for shards i play only SQ and very casual BG, been to GC like 4 times in total and then long form story content casually...no AW no AQ. Only endgame content is a single run of necro. I have the resources to do a single run of epoch and ordeal. Just no desire, its not enticing me like necro...dunno why...long endgame fights didnt excite me even back in the day...so necro was a big deal for me...

Can Kabam do better, yes definetely. Do I care? Hell no...its a business, it is what it is...end of the day its their game/business, they will run it as they see fit...

My only gripe is game team shouldnt dilute atleast the highest valued crystal like titans, let people pull the champs they want, let people get new champs through RNG, let them have the euphoria of pulling a new champ atleast even if its not the champ they are targetting. Who would want a cow or rhulk(just names that came to my mind, not stomping on them), when they are aiming for scream or jack...

    Just my opinion.

I don't think you need to defend how you feel.
For example, when I quit facebook and twitter several years ago, it was painful to delete the accounts and connections I had cultivated over time. But it didn't take long for me to get over it, and I don't care what those companies are up to or whether other users should quit or not.
I think they're evil cesspools, but if someone enjoys spending time on those sites, it's really none of my business and ultimately not my concern.

Same with MCOC; it's all about your own personal decisionmaking; it only affects you.
Whether Kabam continues to be successful or not, whether this or that player continues to be happy or miserable, none of that is within your control.

Well, I used to care because I also spent a lot of money. I didn't have to, but I did. So I feel that my account is this expensive "thing" that I own I don't feel I am getting what I paid for anymore. I feel that if I keep investing, I will be wasting my money now.

Why? It's not important for players that were passionate explain why they are not anymore. you don't think it's important for a company to have feedback? Is it bad to have discussions about your feelings for something you used to love and spend hours and hours on? If you don't want to discuss, then why even come here then?

Thanks for your response man. I know that things are not in my control I am just expressing emotions and that is important. I used to love this game and I spent a lot of money on it. It's perfectly normal to not be happy about something you spent a lot of money on and time on. I think having discussions like these is important to know how to proceed.

Are we going to start playing a new game and spend money on that given your past experiences?
Will companies make changes or eventually close because they didn't care about their customers like they should have? Has this happened before? Yes, many times, many companies.

I've just been playing less lately, if there isn't any content to do, I just do DSE and then log off

i think spending any money on a server based game makes more sense when you think about it like going to the movies ... at the end of the day, you just got entertained ... you didn't purchase anything that you can own or put in a show box for safe keeping...

Hockey Sticks! I even bet that the fine print on the monthly subscription probably says that if they go bankrupt mid month ... they don't owe you the balance for services not rendered.

I have had that mentality since 12.0 ... and the good news is that you are all welcome to feel like i'm dumb for feeling that way ... lol ... i probably am.

Mostly because it's not necessary. If someone actually had the intention of quitting, they would just stop playing. There isn't any need for a great swan song. The real purpose of these Threads is to threaten Kabam that people will quit because of a laundry list of issues that no one can reasonably respond to all in one go. It's a vent. Not a goodbye.

Every single one of these posts potentially make the game better for those that remain. You have what the kids call "an L take"

It is hard to not get burned out when you try to chase top rewards and spend cash in this game. But it is important to acknowledge that this is a game after all, which is usually not worth your mental health, financial hardship and overthinking. It is supposed to be fun. If it is not, take a step back, and look from different perspective, don`t dramatize.
