How exactly does War work?

If you win a war does it not matter how much you died or if you fully explored? Do you get the same amount of points? I'm the leader of a plat 4 alliance and I never understood how any of this worked. Is there a way to see how points and multipliers get calculated and all that?

Plus Bonus Points for winning the war.
Then multiplied by your Tier Multiplier in order to get added to your running Season Points total.
Besides that, it is your War Rating that determines what Tier you play on and determines your Multiplier, as well as who you match against.
Of which War Rating increases/decreases by a certain amount set for each war (may vary depending on opponent relative to you), but +/- is fixed per war no matter how well you do in the war.
And your Season Points that determine what Gold/Platinum/etc rewards bracket you finish in.
(don’t hold me to exact points below, as they have changed over the years, but something like)
Exact current points are easy to lookup for yourself.
* Defender Diversity = like 240 or 270 pts for each different defender (each BG is separate)
* Explored Nodes = every node someone lands on (whether a numbered opponent node or just filler) counts as (maybe) 100 pts.
* Attack Bonus = up to 3x 80 pts when defeating an opponent. Starts as 3x, then decreased by 1x every additional fight it takes to kill that opponent. So, from 240 pts down to 0 pts after 3 attempts (but you'll still get the above “Explore” pts).
* Boss Kill = (in each BG) xx # of points, whatever it is nowadays, maybe 20,000.
* Bonus Points for win = originally 50,000, has been cut several times, now only 5,000 (so means very little nowadays toward season pts compared to setting Diverse Defense and having less attackers KO'd).
(Also if no defender is placed you get full attack bonus and boss kill points for moving onto the empty node, you can’t deny the other alliance points by not placing defenders)
