C'mon that's Bullsh*t

I'm a f2p player and I dont spend a third of my life in the arena so my unit aquirement isnt the highest but I've managed to get around 6k, leading up to this event. And there not even giving us access to the new champ, instead pitting her and the dupe behind 38k units. 38k is riduclus. UNits arent easy to come by and getting a crystal is sick, and reaslizing that the new and exclisive champ is locked behind a 1000 dollar paywall if you convert bought units to money. Techincally its 1200, but lets assume you had around 8k saved up (which is a lot). Im just pissed off. And dont even get me started on alliance war change, as a masters player this infuriates me to no end. Topic for a different post.

Overall kabam has had a string of W's in the past few months but this is really bad. As if they p2w nature of this event isnt enough, at least there was a chance to get lucky, but now you legit just need to spend what you want. It's greedy, and I know people say that about kabam all the time when they release hard content, but at most your draining 1k units for something hard like that. Here its just straight payment.

Those are my thoughts about this, feel free to share yours.

Only agreeable point in this post, kabam has always been money oriented I think we all know that, these p2w events are everywhere and drop by every few months regularly so...

The war change is a bit mehh

Yall seem to be glossing over that the new map is for one season only. It is not permanent. It's more like a beta test. Is it really gonna hurt for one season?

not really but that's the point, hopefully its just one season and kabam dosen't completely ruin the gamemode immediately after making it worth playing..

    1. They kind of are, for people who play the game regularly. First of all, here are all the units in the game, more or less: https://forums.playcontestofchampions.com/en/discussion/385738/how-to-get-units-in-mcoc-in-2025-its-like-2024-but-with-fewer-typos

Summary: you can get almost 9k units a year for doing almost nothing. You can get over 70k units a year for playing the game moderately. An F2P player can get almost 80k units per year spending less time playing than the average person spends watching TV.

    2. You're complaining about the highest reward in that particular event. A reward that will eventually be in the regular crystals for everyone to get. And you expect to get that reward with an amount of units most active players in the game accumulate in a month or two.

It isn't Kabam that is greedy, it is you that is greedy. You expect to get everything for nothing. You play this game completely for free. Games don't fall from trees, they cost money to make and money to operate. And yet you can play the entire game completely for free. But that's not enough. You have to have all of the rewards immediately or else the game operator is "greedy." Greedy because they make one thing require spending or just a reasonable amount of activity. Something even F2P players could get if they wanted to, so it isn't even paywalled.

F2P players can get that thing immediately if they are active enough, and spenders can get it immediately if they want to spend for it, and everyone else will ultimately get it regardless eventually. And *this* is your example of how greedy the company is? This is the lightest form of monetization that exists in the world. Most people wish car manufacturers were as greedy as Kabam is.

It is true not everyone can spend, and not everyone can grind, even the ludicrously small amounts required to get thousands of units. However, for people unable to spend any money and any time, they can still actually play the game and actually get a ton of stuff completely for free. They get a lot of stuff from even the greediest events, just not everything, and they even get practically everything eventually. To me, if that's not enough for someone unwilling or unable to spend and unwilling or unable to grind for even a moment, their expectations are fantastically unrealistic.
"Moderate time spent" yeah have fun growing up to develop arthritis/carpal tunnel or some form of RSI, after all that arena grinding. People on here always undermine the effort/impact of consistently grinding arena milestones

Rubbish. 2 days for 41 rounds at roughly 3 minutes each is hardly an oppressive grind.

It’s a spending event meant to encourage spending. If every event was attainable by FTP then it would make it easy to just not spend. If you really don’t think you can make a impact in this event then wait for banquet. Thats where the best of the best rewards are for FTP as long as you save up.

Interesting. I've saved up 10k units since banquet ended and I haven't touched the arena once. The literal only thing I've purchased is plat tracks.

Not much time left for unit grinding after reading through your movie scripts. goddamn!
    That's a short one.

KABAM doesn't consider time a consumable resource in this game, so they don't factor in how much time we already spend grinding for other resources.......

You can't possibly have played any other games if you think this is true. Mcoc is one of the most frp friendly games on the market

They explicitly do consider time a resource

If there didn’t there would had make you do 10 path from all act content not 3. And even valaint get cut slack of so stop saying there don’t value time because there dos

They did that because they wanted to focus their time on other parts of the game. Has nothing to do with what I said earlier.

Idk the direct quote but is something along the lines that time isn’t a in-game resource so they don’t put a value on it. Therefore they don’t account for it being rewarded or something to that extent. Happened a long time ago, some people like usual were complaining that there is to much things to do in game when that conversation started.

Yes they do. The Platinum Tracks have ludicrous amounts of rewards for the price you’re paying. The reason for the low price is because you’re not just paying with money, you’re paying with time. You’re making a promise to log in every day and complete your daily objectives, and if you can’t spend the time to do that, you can make it up with money by buying boosters. That’s how battle passes work, they cost much less than the average deal because you’re paying with both time and money. It’s a way to profit while also increasing the amount of time people spend in the game. If Kabam didn’t value time as a resource, why would the Platinum track exist in the first place?
