Wheel of Fate has been out for less than 1 week. At this time, there are no plans to update Wheel of Fate. There are going to be times when certain content isn't widely loved by the entire Community. It has been received very well from the group of players that I expected to enjoy it.
And who's that group? Cause most people here on forums and even YouTube are not pleased with this as you can see.
Which makes up about 1% of the whole player base. I get feedback from more places than just the Forums and YouTube Content Creators / Comments.
This Quest was made for players who built very expansive rosters, who enjoy challenging content that is going to stretch those rosters thin. The majority of the people who work here do not fit that bill.
As I previously stated, it bums me out when people don't enjoy things, but not every piece of content is going to be universally loved by every subsection of the Community.
If all the forums comments + ccs and yt comments barely make up about 1% of the whole player base then how do you know there's this "group" that actually enjoyed it? Did you personally poll the rest of the playerbase or how did you get this information? Furthermore, if you somehow got this information and we're talking less than 200 people then the same argument can be used against you, that's less than 1% of the whole player base.
every few months they send surveys to players but i'm sure they privately do that regularly and to players from all subsections of the community. we just don't know.
Well you don't know that, and if they did hypothetically then we also don't know how many people we're talking about so I'm curious to know how exactly he got that information and how many people since he claims there's a group that actually enjoyed it (and is probably bigger than 1% of the player base since he tried using that argument to dismiss mine).
c'mon man, be reasonable. this company was sold for 800 million 8 years ago and has probably grossed hundreds of millions since. you don't make that kind of money without knowing your customers. the chances that they're taking any guesses is next to zero.
What's not reasonable about me asking him to elaborate further? Just because they make money you have to believe everything they say blindly? Sorry, no lmao.
it's not blind trust, it's common sense. a business doesn't succeed without knowing their customers, let alone a billion dollar company whose main service is selling psychological satisfaction. they know us and sometimes even better than we do.
I'm not saying they don't, he might be right. I'm simply asking him to elaborate further and explain how exactly he got that information if it is more than 1% of the player base.

Having explored this, I don't mind the content by itself (Abyss felt harder at the time it came out) - it's the rewards for it especially quest 1 that felt very out of sync. Moreso with the champ restrictions added to it.
Genuine question, for everyone who dislikes the content -
Would you prefer the rewards to be SO great that you'll be left at a significant disadvantage for not doing it?

I can answer this question from my point of view. It’s better when terrible content is paired with terrible rewards. It makes it easy for me to skip it. I am sure I am not the only one who thinks this way. I have the roster and the skill to complete it but because of rewards, I skipped it completely. Doesn’t make much of a difference to me but if more people think this way, it just sucks that developer time was wasted for niche content.

Yes, that's why it's endgame content, I would've eventually done it when I got the final champ I was missing for Gorr in quest 2 regardless of how boring and annoying the fights actually are. With those rewards however, I don't even care I'm just gonna take my time, big L compared to Epoch Ordeal and Necropolis.

But it seems to me a lot of complaints have been about the lack of non-game-breaking items, like XP, T3A-T6B, sig stones, etc. Those who aren't doing WoF are already falling behind, especially in PvP content. An extra R4, extra chances at these new meta Titan champs like Jean, Yelena, Jessica, Galan... Literally every account I've faced in BGs in the last two days has the new DT pfp from the WoF completion.

I think it depends for quest 1 which is main issue i think shouldnt be restricted but 2 and 3 should be as those rewards actually feel worth looking at roster and rank ups if needed like i was going through then quit out mainly due to yes i gotta rank up but like i didnt see value in quest 1 to really feel like its worth it, i also understand it is for those that have more r3s than i do

honestly i wish we getting more tier 6b and tier 3 aplha. Because those is needed from r1 all the way to r4. After that no more it pretty hard to manage that and tier 6cc so a r3 gem even a r1 to 2 gem could go a long way the selection. WAs kinda meh for those who already had it Titian nexus was a nice addition but since missing 3 in the titant it hold almost zero value to me. But definitely liked more rank up gems.

TRUE!

Planning quests is what I missed about act6. Act7 and after its all vanilla. But all bosses are cool.
Wof is pretty bang on. I have plenty roster limitation and I'm happily eager to pay revive tax on couple of fights.
Then I agree with the others... its missing basic rewards. T5c t3a t6b t6cc (1-2, 2-3 gem/s) Refined xp. About 50 sigs. Gold. And an emote... which is kinda staple atp.

Halfway in between..or even spread the rewards around more so that finishing quest 1 doesn't feel so bad for just a quarter of a titan and some t6cc. If you exhausted resources just doing Q` or Q2 it wouldn't feel like the failure it can be just having those Q1 rewards. Put 1 of those 3 x t7cc in each quest and 3k awakening gem shards in each (or 2, 3, 5k for Q1, Q2 and Q3).
That's apart from the lack of sig stones. I think maybe giving even 10, 15 then 25 o so meaning a total of say 50 generic after all 3 quests would have made it feel good but not something everyone had to do.

That's not how this works at all.
The forums are a self-selected non-representative minority. There are things it cares about that most people don't and vice versa. That's not a conjecture, that's a demonstrable fact. You have only to compare the forums to the Reddit or the Discord, two other self-selected but different groups of players. We don't have to assume the forums represent a skewed point of view. We can prove it. I've been an observer of the forums long enough to be able to state this as an expert opinion on the subject.
So how do you know what the playerbase at large thinks? You try to examine as many different segments as possible. Two hundred people who all board the same bus to Kabam HQ to tell them they like Wheel is suspect, but 200 hundred people from different cross sections of the end game community is far less so.
Beyond that, there's the actual game data that Kabam can compare to sentiment and we mostly can't. Game data cannot directly tell you if players like a thing, but it can allow you to determine relative trends. You can inform your judgment of how well you're measuring sentiment by how much the game data supports those judgments. Kabam can compare all of the sentiment data for all the end game content they've produced to the gameplay data for all that content and analyze the relationships between them. It is what I would do in their place.
There's this notion that you can't trust data, because data doesn't reflect sentiment. To be more specific, people will do content they don't like, even if they hate it, if they think they have to. But that's not true, or rather that's not true for everyone. Some people might do that, but most won't. So how well liked content is does get reflected in the data. You can't necessarily say how many people like it in absolute terms, but you can tell whether something is more or less well liked in relative terms, because when something isn't liked enough people will avoid doing it to show up in the data. This notion that the data doesn't reflect the true state of the game is just a convenient fiction some people tell themselves to be able to claim their guesses are better than most people's facts.
You would determine this by just analyzing the data, to see if there are stronger correlations between participation and reward magnitude or public sentiment. These sorts of questions are why we have data analysts in the first place.

Yeah, it's kinda funny, but it's the grace notes, the charms, the tokens (not BG tokens) that can make what would otherwise feel like a unsatisfactory experience into a rewarding one.
As I'm sure everyone on the forum is familiar, Robert Browning said it best in "The Bishop Orders His Tomb at Saint Praxed’s Church”:
"The little more, and how much it is!"
Even as a case in point, the Grandmaster pfp is like my main motivation for exploring all of Necro at this point.

I agree with your later point that an Emote would have been a great addition.
With the existing champion restrictions based on tags I don't understand why the quest can't be open to 6 stars. At least this way you'd be able to fill in a gap or two

Yes. Well, halfway. Everest content comes with the connotation that the rewards will be in that ballpark.
Maybe for content more like this it doesnt have to be everest content. If the wof wasnt advertised as everest content its possible some backlash could have been avoided but there's no way to know

Having explored this, I don't mind the content by itself (Abyss felt harder at the time it came out) - it's the rewards for it especially quest 1 that felt very out of sync. Moreso with the champ restrictions added to it.

No one dislike the content,
It's like you haven't even read the comments about the content

"Expansive rosters" is one thing, but the emphasis in this content seemed more about "exp[e]nsive rosters." For example, let's look at the options for Bullseye in quest 3: Zola, Bastion, Dark Phoenix, Joauqin, Gentle, Jean, Karolina, Lumatrix, Nico, Okoye, Spider-Woman, and Yelena. Literally no champs who have been in the basic 7* crystal pool.
How exactly does this indicate "expensive" roster? Because 2 of the 12 champs cost most players money? 10 of the 12 are in the titan. Hence "expansive" roster. That's not the slam dunk you thought it was. 🤣

I just felt the quest difficulty was all over the place. Like difficulty wise 3 was the easier than quest 1 and quest 2 was the most difficult. The overall rewards were fine but because the difficulty see sawed like this it made the reward distribution feel off.
As for a small reward buff… HT shoulda been in the selector, but whatever at this point. That one change alone woulda made the rewards that little bit better without being game breaking.

Your target audience was end-game players. They just proved they would do the content for "meh" rewards - so the concern that players would be left in the dust if they didn't do the content doesn't really hold water. They WILL do the content - regardless. Better rewards would have been a bit of sugar for that bitter taste in the mouth that is there now.
The rewards didn't move the needle for your target audience, and that's a problem. What's more, it's a bigger problem for anyone doing after July sales. WOF might have the shortest lifespan of viability of any content released recently. Aspirational content that has very little inspiration.
This would be true of general content but not end-game content. You've already filtered your population by motivation and roster.
Players can ditch side quest because they hate the format that month - it is meaningless to their progression and self-perception as a player.
End game players will do end game content even if they hate it, by virtue of the fact it is end game content. They have the motivation to be known as an end game player.
Participation in this case is not an indication of enjoyment, and I am not sure if Kabam do sentiment analysis (or what their sources are).
I've 100% it over the weekend. The content probably doesn't deserve the hate it gets, the rewards, probably deserve the hate they are getting. My hot take.

It appears Kabam sometimes forgets just how petty and sentimental its players are.
Lol.... The reason I planned and executed my ccp fintech tigra challenge first in my alt was to get that Tigra emote. Sentiments at its best. And now they took away my pride and joy with paywalled 7* tigra. I quit(not really).

It’s cool at least there’s a clear plan for Tigra to be made available in 2059

Those who aren't doing WoF are already falling behind, especially in PvP content.
An extra R4, extra chances at these new meta Titan champs like Jean, Yelena, Jessica, Galan...
Literally every account I've faced in BGs in the last two days has the new DT pfp from the WoF completion.
I used a Rank 2.
Looking like Mister Negative would do well.

That's apart from the lack of sig stones. I think maybe giving even 10, 15 then 25 o so meaning a total of say 50 generic after all 3 quests would have made it feel good but not something everyone had to do.
