Kabam greed or Kabam survival??

I personally think the deals aren’t that bad I mean are they high priced yes but higher prices on things aren’t an absolutely bad thing I mean would it be smart if everyone had the best brand new car or anything of that sort it would get boring quick and we would most likely move on. The whole point I’m trying to make is we need some of these deals through out the year to be more expensive for less rewards because simply giving it away to everyone for a small price would be fun at first but detrimental to the games eco as I already can predict we will most likely see rank 5 7 stars by the end of the year

It feels like a deliberate attempt to pump the brakes on the lifecycle of r4.

As someone who had over 20,000 units, I’m hugely disappointed. But I also didn’t want people leaving this weekend with 6 new r4 champs each.

I’m trying to come to terms with the fact that bad deals may actually help my standing in the community as a whole.

I honestly feel the same way, if the deals were amazing, then you could expect to see a tonne more r4s on your way to the GC and beyond next BG season.

The serious spenders are gonna spend no matter what, how powerful do you want them to become relative to you is the question

    5. A large majority of the player base, myself included, is fueling that demand.

About 97% of the playerbase in ftp games don't spend money, and mcoc is pretty similar. In that case, a large majority of the playerbase are not meeting that demand, so it is on the minority of players that spend that meet the demand so the game still runs.

Kabam makes money in Marvel Contest of Champions primarily through:
    1. In-App Purchases – Players buy units, crystals, offers, and bundles to acquire champions, resources, and progression boosts.
    2. Daily/Monthly Offers – Timed deals in the store tailored to progression levels (e.g., Cavalier, Paragon).
    3. Subscription Models – Summoner’s Sigil and the Wallet/Battle Pass-style features (e.g., Sentry/Herculean Pass).
    4. Event-Based Monetization – Special events like Banquets or Spring Cleaning offer high-value, limited-time deals.

The game is free-to-play, but heavily monetized for those seeking faster or more competitive progression.

I know whales want to have a full deck of 30 7* rank 4 champions right now but Kabam is actually slowing the release of more rank 4 materials for sale during each event

There is demand but Kabam doesn't want to supply too much too quickly

I don't believe we'll have r5 mats this year. Maybe they'll introduce them slowly around the middle of next year. But this year will be way too soon.

community logic: "the deals were so bad that it gave whales a yuuuuge lead"

how will they entice whales during banquet? they don't need awakening gems, sigs, shards, and they'll probably have 50+ r4s by december.

Bro, it’s gonna be the next gen relics. Those are gonna be so hype.

(And also seven star sig stones. They’re starving the economy of sigs right now.)

It’s gonna turn into a Contest of Cards (Debit/Credit) instead lol

Not just greedy, greedy as ****, they increased the unit spend for f2p to get Torch AND they also increased the money spend to get Torch even if you are p2w. See you folks during Cyberweekend or Banquet when they inevitably sell Hulkling for $800 or 45k units in total, totally gonna be a fun time for everyone.

If they do that, just don’t buy the deal. What’s the hysteria about on this thread…?

    1. Kabam is a business
    2. The primary goal of a business is to make money.
    3. Businesses make money by supplying goods/services.
    4. As long as there is a demand, they will continue to meet that demand with goods/services
    5. A large majority of the player base, myself included, is fueling that demand.
    6. Kabam is a business. It’s capitalism, baby. Don’t confuse that with greed.
    7. FTP ain’t gonna keep Kabam’s lights on.

Another major spending event, another onslaught of Kabam is greedy/going out of business/peeing in everyone’s Corn Flakes. Happens every time.

    1. Agreed. But they’re doing short term now instead of long term. Whales are, or threatening to leave.

    2. Yup. Again agreed again. Just again, short term goals.

    3. Repetition.

    4. Repetition.

    5. Not a majority at all. Large majority? weird.

    6. Repetition.

    7. FTP actually does help. Keeps players engaged. Do you actually thing your drop in the bucket is “keeping the lights on.?

Why? These deals in terms of R4 resources kind of slim. Torch in no way changes the game...

I won't, just like I didn't buy Torch, but this increase in price was absolutely unnecessary and makes no sense.

    Curious about that.

Well for example, notice how they are coming up with different ways to release 7* for existing champs.

    And?
    What’s the issue?

You don’t HAVE to get him.

For that reason, Kabam is selling **** as the best in the game, will be the same in few months, wait for it.

the superwhales have most of their roster at s200 if not close and they're probably capped out on the top 5 prestige. sigs won't help them and have never been the main selling point during gifting/banquet. the new relics are designed to be simple, so i don't see anything groundbreaking there.

the feature in every banquet is a new rank, and i can't see how they move away from that.

KABAM wants too make as much as they can before they release 8 star champs next year and try to start the whole greedy process all over again..... :|
