I don't know what to do. I could afford 7* Torch from webstore but do I really need him? I'm thinking that I could get him and Starky and other goodies that comes with offers but I will pay for PIXELS! My boss is already laughing that I'm spending money on mobile video game.
@Renaxqq "Do I really need him?" You asked yourself the right money saving question. I feel the same way. While he's a favorite champ for a lot of players, I don't NEED him and don't care to have him. FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) or the competitive flex to have the newest 7*, is what pushes a lot of players to drop thousands of dollars during an event.
Lots of hate in the comments section which i guess is the forums MO, but heatwave + WOF had me close and High Evolutionary did it for me. The cheap mechanics geared at eliminating options in your roster has just gotten to be too much. I’ve spent a lot on this game over the years and for the first time since i took an extended break im down to no spending. It just always feels like a step forward (radiance) comes with 2 or more steps back (heatwave, WOF, High Evolutionary). Maybe this is just me, but the mechanic that unblockable hits from non skill champs dont count towards reducing the counter for the cassie-type damage is just not fun. Its solely geared at driving selling counters and devaluing current rosters.

Yeah we should do another boycott until the next spending event starts… wait a second…
I remember there was a joke many years ago going around saying Bill gates makes more money in the time he spent on a toilet bowl than what we make in a year working a full time job
That's how rich ppl can be in this world, their net worth goes up and down in billions every day every week
There are really many rich ppl and to them 39k units for 7* human torch is just peanuts or small change
They love this game and they spend in this game partly bcos they like Marvel IP or they like the real time fighting gameplay, human torch vs other champions
But poor ppl cannot comprehend spending thousands on a mobile game bcos they don't have that amount of disposable income, their minds cannot understand what rich ppl are thinking and rich ppl think very differently from poor ppl
In a game that is free to play without any barrier to entry hosted on a global server where players from every country plays together, we will definitely have the whales from rich countries playing with poor players from developing countries, we also have billionaires in countries like India where the average income is lower than developed countries. This mashup is what shaping your playing experience right now, the have VS the have not
Kabam has to create deals with a specific target audience in mind, spenders not FTP players but Kabam did give away a 7* Nexus crystal for valiants for free bcos Kabam still remembers all the FTP players who are the majority of the playerbase
Not spending money is a personal choice for every player but talking trash about players who spend is like talking trash about Kabam's employees livelihood bcos spending from players funds the company and pays their salaries, it's their jobs at stake when they craft a spending event, make less revenue and the company is forced to cut cost by slashing jobs, that's not what we want to happen, we appreciate the hard work they put into keeping the game running with new monthly update and new monthly content
The game is free to play but it's actually not free, someone somewhere in the world is actually paying for it
Used to think spending on mobile game is nonsense but after playing for more than 5 years, I have another perspective. If you spend most of your time on the game, instead of a hobby, I think it’s perfectly fine to spend (within your means) on the game. No different if you decide to buy an expensive cue stick for snooker or Brompton bikes for cycling if those happen to be your hobbies.
Important thing is to prioritze spending first on your needs then choose to spend what is left whichever makes you happy
My biggest issue is that one day game will be gone with all our money spent. Not gonna happen to other hobbies like for example collecting fragrances. If I'm going to stop care about my fragrance collection then I could sell it or left it to collect dust and if I would like to I could return to collecting them again after many years. My bottles will stay where I left them. 7* Torch would be cool but hundreds for something virtual... I don't know...
I have always been a F2P. It just doesn’t make sense to me to pay for stuff inside a mobile game which I can get for free a bit later anyway . And the sheer insane amount of money people spend are insane . People are actually spending HUNDREDS of dollars, enough money to get yourself an international vacation with fights and hotel included or a full on game console annd professional games if you are not the real world type and for what ? Freaking units and maybe a champ and some materials? It’s insane . Even if you are rich it’s insane
The people that are spending that kind of money have more than they know what to do with anyways.
Fair point . To some people hundreds or even thousands of dollars are the equivalent of pennies . Still super weird to me . If I was so rich there are so many way more interesting things I would do . To each their own I guess
It is a mobile game, and people can choose to play however they like (as long as they don't break the T&C), it is their personal choice.
If you feel that F2P is right for you then that is great for you, and if other want to spend on something they enjoy that is great for them. Every time I go up a massive account on BG, I actually thanks them for choice to spend (and hopefully they are not using money that they need for other vital things), they are financing the continuation development of the game.
For MCOC eco to work, all players, big spenders, casual spenders, moderate spenders and F2P are important, we are all part of a working eco, we are not fighting against each other.
It is down to Kabam to create an environment for players to feel that they can make progress without doing something they are unable to, while at the same time being able to maintain their cash flow. So any feedback are to be made it should be directed at Kabam not the players.
I don't think insult how other players help the situation, a F2P badge doesn't have anymore "honour" than anyone else, it is just how one choice to play the game.
At the end of the day, we all pay, either with money or our time, nothing is truly free.

A banana got duct taped on to a wall got sold for 6.2million dollars. Wonder how that banana is now. Nothing is weird when you have money to spend. Support the spenders for keeping this game free to play.
That banana was ate by Justin Sun (the guy that purchased the banana).
It was then been replaced by another banana, in 2023 the piece was displayed in Seoul Museum, and it was ate again by an art student.
One could see Justin Sun action as a quick way to promote himself and bring more attention to his Blockchain business, not sure if I agreed with it, but hey I don't have $6.2mil to buy banana, so who am I to talk. All I know it my banana is about £0.30

Haven't you seen news? People spend insane amounts of money in something that has like no value, just for the flex. It seems wierd for us normal people but there are a few (top 1%) who have so much money than you could imagine (more than 50% of total wealth) so they spend it like water. Like spending 100k, 150k dollars in a mobile game, or spending million dollars for a gold chair, or 50 million dollars for a lavish wedding in Venice. Some people just have lot of money to spend.
They probably make more than million dollars per year if they spend like 10k$ a year on this game.
Oh no I get that . I just can’t imagine playing a mobile game when I have that much money when I could be I don’t know going to Casino in Monaco or playing PS5 oh my personal movie theater or stuff like this . Mobile games just seem so mundane .
I think F2P players and whales should all get on. We all share a love for the game, and we all know the game needs to make money to keep playing. F2P players criticising spenders just doesn’t make sense.
I’ve played the game 10.5 years. In that time I’ve gone from a low earner, to a high earner. I used to play lots of games on Xbox but with family and work priorities I really only get to play on the device in my hands. I would now say I spend a lot of money on this game, but I can afford to and enjoy it.
I would probably rather have more rare, spin-off champs for what I spend, than getting some crazy roster advantages with rank up materials. There should be some of that, but I have more R4s than most people in top alliances and I don’t even play AQ or AW. I love Dark Phoenix as an example of what spenders should get (I know some don’t), but think Human Torch and Red Guardian being locked is a bit rough for those that were looking forward to them.
The game is aggressively monetising known wins like RG and HT. Let’s see better effort stuff for our money please Kabam. I’m talking special suit variants of champs (remember when White Iron Fist was first released?) so whales aren’t getting crazy utility that F2P can’t keep up with, but we’re still getting awesome stuff.

If you're F2P, that's fine be F2P. But you keep throwing in that you'd rather spend the money on vacations with flights and hotels as something better to spend money on, and that's ok too.
But you've mentioned on another post before about saving money for these vacations and hotel stays for a week, etc, when one of the spending events costed $400. You even said you'd even have money left over.
You keep bringing this up, so please tell me where you can fly to internationally, stay at a hotel for a week, and go on a spending spree for only $400, and still have money left over at the end of the trip. The average international trip costs thousands of dollars.
I've asked before, but you never responded. Now seems like a good time to ask again since you brought it up again.
Never said spending spree but in most Europe you can find a destination for which you can get a two way flight and stay in a ok hotel for a few days with four hundred bucks without much of a problem . Flights are incredibly cheap ( you can get a two way flight for like fifty - sixty bucks ) and you can find ok hotels quite cheaply too . Sure this doesn’t work on crazy expensive places like London or Paris but there are plenty of destinations where it works brilliantly . Last year in September me and friend went to Milan for four days and the flight cost around fifty bucks per person while out hotel room cost us three hundred and twenty ( so one hundred and seventy per person ) . And we could have found cheaper lodging if we had gone for a hostel but honestly hostels are nasty and the idea of sharing a bathroom with a stranger is gross . I remember it quite well because I won five hundred bucks from the lotto and I immediately decided to blow it on a quick fun trip
And that for Milan . If you want less glamorous places if gets even cheaper
But hey that’s just me . I love travelling so that’s where I spend my money on . To each their own

people who pay keep this game running. or maybe you want to watch an ad per fight then?
I don’t really care . I mostly play MCOC while watching this TV do if they want to give me bonuses by having me watch ads that would be fine with me

You should be banned from the game for criticizing spenders
Without spenders, you won't even have this game to play in the first place

But, can you do any of that comfortably while sitting on the toilet? Checkmate.
I wouldn't say I've gone free to play entirely, but the desire to spend on these events has dropped to zero. The all or nothing aspect is real let down. I used to buy offers here and there if I thought they were "fun". For example, before the explosion of sales, it was fun to pick up an Odin offer on the 4th or cyber to get a bonus fun crystal to open and some unit. Now? Getting half the catalysts needed for a rank up? Hard pass. The game is just asking for too much these days if you don't whale. Cash offers (only if you max them out). Units (the ask has skyrocketed and grinding area is far from sufficient these days).
I'll continue to play, and may continue to spend, but I will just fade into retirement at some point (as will all of us). Between offers and champ releases (instance defender then single counter release), the end goal is not longer fun to chase. I still enjoy solo content, but the BG and AW chase for radiance is irrelevant to most non-spending players.
Kabam has decided this is the way they can maximize profits. Maybe they are right, maybe they are wrong. Time will tell. But it's not the direction I would have chosen for the game.

Ah yes, let's talk about generational poverty in the context of a mobile game. "My father was F2P. His father before him was F2P. I'm the first one in my family to buy the Sigil."

We live in an age of absurdity, so there’s no level of commentary that surprises me anymore.
Right now, I’m headed over to cntraveler.com to jump in the forums and tell everyone how much more fun it is to spend money on mobile games than traveling the world.

Just to point out, the problem is not spenders vs f2p at the moment, but whales vs everyone else. The problem is that medium spenders are treated like f2p recently, so medium spenders, casual spenders and dolphins decide to stop, or reduce their MCOC expenses. The game doesn't live from 10 people that buy 50k $ of deals each year.
The value just is not there anymore. When you want $800-$1000 four or five times a year for a mobile game, you damn better well deliver on quality content.
And have a quality department (which I doubt they do anymore)

The game is free to play but it's actually not free, someone somewhere in the world is actually paying for it
Important thing is to prioritze spending first on your needs then choose to spend what is left whichever makes you happy
Nobody cares. Play your game, not someone elses.
All I know it my banana is about £0.30
Millionaires vs me. But both happy.
And that for Milan . If you want less glamorous places if gets even cheaper
But hey that’s just me . I love travelling so that’s where I spend my money on . To each their own
Have you forgotten to take your meds again?
Winners give their everything
I'll continue to play, and may continue to spend, but I will just fade into retirement at some point (as will all of us). Between offers and champ releases (instance defender then single counter release), the end goal is not longer fun to chase. I still enjoy solo content, but the BG and AW chase for radiance is irrelevant to most non-spending players.
Kabam has decided this is the way they can maximize profits. Maybe they are right, maybe they are wrong. Time will tell. But it's not the direction I would have chosen for the game.

"This restaurant food is awful, I much rather spend on MCoC than eat here again"
"Hotel was dirty, bad service. I could have bought units instead"
The game doesn't live from 10 people that buy 50k $ of deals each year.
