It was a good pair of fights. Took some actual paying attention, and was more like playing against the boss of an RPG with the multiple phases and how it changes the fight. No unavoidable damage, no needing specific kinds of champs, etc. With the much lower energy requirements this month, easy to practice on, and you know how his phases go, they don't jump around, they don't give random buffs at random times. Easier than Collector, by far.
At a high level, it appears that you need to invest the same amount of effort (and units) to beat essentially an Act 6 boss in Thanos twice that you had to do in order to beat Guilly 7 times.
I do agree with the OP that I'm not particularly comfortable combining explore and completion. I could complete last months, but could not explore. This month, you have to explore to get completion.
Using energy costs (units to buy refills) is not a valid metric because not everyone blasts through it in the first few days. I just keep my timer running, go as I get the energy, and it ends up taking me a little over 3 weeks to explore everything (Beginner through Uncollected). So in that regard, my energy costs are zero and haven't "saved" anything.
So what your saying is you have 3 weeks to keep trying you don't have to buy to beat him save up revives and health pots and keep practicing when you have the time
I absolutely think that the fight was as challenging as any fight in the game. but it's just two single fights, and you only need to do it once. You have to face the collector, ultron both 4? times, (correct me if I'm wrong here), and any other event quest, you've had to fight the boss 6-7 times. a lot more units on refills, potions, revives. I'm looking forward to getting all of the maps completed so that I can get back into act 5 and finish that all up.
also, in the future, I hope they make more boss fights like 3.2. Just one path with a difficult boss as Thanos is more than enough and more rewarding mind you.
Thanos was a pain in the butt but a nicely conceived fight, so kudos to the dev team. Infinity war iron man though, ugh so annoying, I pity the poor saps that are going to fight him in AW
Brilliant quest this month, best boss fight ever. Plus the response to the excessive energy requirements has been much appreciated and a hopeful sign that developers are listening to the player base.
It wasn’t too bad. Cost me a few revives to get the hang of it. I didn’t feel like practicing. But it wasn’t bad. Definitely hard but rather have this than guillotine 7 times. Such after finishing 3 lines I got the hang of her and solod her from runs 3-7.
As hard as the fight was, I thought it was great and totally did justice to Thanos. He is suppose to be a near impossible fight. That being said those fights can suck it! I’m glad I’m done lol.
So that new Iron Man is a pretty hard fight... but those Thanos on Master for my Rank 4 4*s is really hard. Luckily i did just rank 5 my 4* Blade (ad no Skill 5* option yet) but even with a rank 5 Blade I can barely get past the Genesis stage of the first Thanos on Master. I get him down like 20/30% health and it is like he doesn't take anymore damage after that.
So that new Iron Man is a pretty hard fight... but those Thanos on Heroic for my Rank 4 4*s is really hard. Luckily i did just rank 5 my 4* Blade (ad no Skill 5* option yet) but even with a rank 5 Blade I can barely get past the Genesis stage of the first Thanos on Heroic. I get him down like 20/30% health and it is like he doesn't take anymore damage after that.
Read description you are probably healing him by hitting him at the wrong times
Also do you mean master? Heroic is like 4K and I would think a rank 5 blade would slaughter him
Yes sorry Master And ya the Heroic one was easy.
Ah maybe. Just seemed like I would get him down a bit and that was it... couldn't get him any further. I am all for hard boss fights... but this seems a bit overkill to me (with how I faired my first 2 tires I am not even sure i could revive through this).

Second phase when he has the aura he will regen and you will lose health if you touch each other. Have to parry to disable or wait it out.
If you are using 1 5/50 and some 4/40 I think that boss will prove to be too strong for you. As I mentioned earlier in this thread master is more out of line than uncollected
Yeah I saw that... also i was avoiding it as much as possible and shutting it down with parries or waiting.
I have one other 5/50 4* (Star Lord). Funny thing is that main reason I want to beat this Master mode Thanos right now is I want those 17 more T4CC Frag Crystals as I need like 2k more Science so I can Rank 3 my 5* Luke Cage. Funny how things you need to beat something are locked behind the same thing you need to beat.
Also I have the skill... I started Act 5 with only 4* Rank 4s and I did 100% Master on the Mutant Hunter event (though last month's even was far harder so I did not 100% that). This Thanos is just on another level... I just have never understood the idea of content you can walk through easily having a boss that is near impossible for you at the end (if you can easily beast everything before it... why should it be near impossible for the same player to beat the boss?t).
Anyways we will see if i can learn it enough to beat him. I play fairly well in terms of skill... but this is next level (I am getting better and better each time I fight him though... but I also keep getting an issue where my specials don't fire).
But is still a hard boss for a monthly quest should have been an act 6 boss
Exactly! When an event quest boss is harder than any other boss in the game including act 5 you should know something is seriously stupid! Especially when the rewards are exactly the same!
If you really think that thanos is the hardest fight in the game or more unfair than anything in the game i'm assuming you haven't fought the collector yet because thanos can be solo'd or at least 2 shot with 4 stars and not even god tier ones while the collector is just random with specials you cannot evade
Actually I have a few champs I'd like to tet on the collector that might make him very easy to deal with. But Thanos have no such counters.
1. Part of what makes the Collector much harder than Thanos is the fact that even to test anything against the Collector requires plowing through the rest of 5.2.6 to reach him in the first place. Thanos doesn't have that hurdle.
2. If you find a way to make the Collector very easy to deal with, as far as I'm aware you'd be the first. He's explicitly designed to eliminate a lot of ways to defeat him easily. He eventually becomes immune to bleed and poison effects, he becomes immune to stun, he becomes immune to power lock, he becomes unblockable, and he will reduce your ability accuracy to about 20% over time which means eventually none of your offensive or defensive abilities will trigger often. I don't think a one-shot is impossible, especially with 5/65 champs, but making him very easy seems extremely unlikely.
3. I'm not sure what about Thanos you believe has no counters, but I've seen seeing videos of players one-shotting at least one Thanos with different 4* champs (I've personally seen 4* starlord and 4* hulk), and it is still early. I'm pretty sure before the month is out we'll see multiple people complete the pair of Thanos fights in uncollected with a 4* team with no revives.
Also too look at it like this......
1 path last month = 1 full energy and one team revive....
130 units per path x 7 paths..... 900 units if you needed a team revive each time.....
This time is only 2 fights amd one path. So even if you need 3 team revives to beat each thanos that is still only 600 units which is much cheaper than exploration last month..... maybe boost up the waazoo before going in.... greater champion, health and attack boosts.... maybe that will make it only 1 or two team revoves needed.... practice on him ... try out dofferent champs... see who works best for you.... i have seen him soloed with a 4* AA....

Yeah that is the solution. I will practice on him for awhile and eventually I will learn him and once i feel confident and have a decent run that will be the run I spend a few revives on (the issue is if you were to plug away with revives too early you might strand yourself with full KO and no units or revives... and that is a terrible feeling). Luckily I have a lot of revives saved up but I want to save most of those for my Uncollected run next month (I already did Chapter 1 in Act 5 a month or so ago with just rank 4 4*s and one single rank 5 4* Star Lord).... after I Rank 3 my 5* Luke Cage and my 5* Iceman I will have a team I should be able to become uncollected with without much fuss (4* 5/50 Star Lord, 4* 5/50 Blade, 5* 3/45 Iceman, 5* 3/45 Luke Cage, 4* 4/40 Ghost Rider... but that is a few weeks away from completion as I am short a few thousand Tier 4 fragments right now in Science and Mutant, as well as short on having enough T4Basic, but I will have enough by end of this event in both cases believe... well the T4 Basic may take me a bit longer, I hope tot do it soon as I have 17 T1Alphas in my overflow... so I have like 30 of them in total right now).
I will beat Thanos by the end for sure (especially once I finish ranking my top team this month to 4* rank 5 and 5* rank 3). But the way you see it is interesting and makes sense. Normally many lanes 3 energy per lane would have taken forever to beat and a minimum a few energy refills (even for someone like me who likes to buy as few refills as possible... I even play in a way where I wont take on a mission unless I know I have the skill to win without potions or revives, I almost never use them as a result).
Getting smashed by Thanos in this instance (short path, no other fights etc) is a great deal better than running full length path, getting to the boss with full health after beating boring AI and being wiped anyway. For those who use a bunch of items in Master to just complete, it removes the sweaty thought of wasted time/resources and the irrational need to plow on
@DNA3000 has the right idea, practice for free until comfortable enough to take it on. With the path energy being so low there is no excuse not to continue trying until you get the fight on your terms.

The difference though is that you could still "cut your losses" with 1 path last month for only the cost of one round against Guilly (1 team revive = 100 units in your example).
With Thanos, your only option is to spend the full exploration cost of whatever it takes to beat him. There is no way to break it up into pieces. It makes the whole quest an all-or-nothing feat.
I would have preferred to see the map revised so that you could beat him once for completion, but the 2nd fight would grant exploration.

Actually, I think the reverse is closer to the truth. With last month, you had no choice but to spend a huge amount of energy just to reach Guillotine and fight a number of non-trivial fights which could mean you did not reach Guillotine at full strength. And if you discover you don't have the right team or you've taken too many losses just to reach her, the temptation is to try to spend past her because the sunk cost just to run the path to reach her is so high. You either push on, or lose all that effort. It is in many ways an all or nothing endeavor.
This month, although there is only one path you aren't locked into spending past Thanos to the same degree. If you do not get a good result fighting the first Thanos you can just back out. You always arrive at the first Thanos at full strength, and you only spend 18 energy to reach him. The sunk cost is low, and there's less incentive to push on even if the fight goes bad. And you can practice that first fight repeatedly for almost no cost until you finish it in good shape to take on the next fight. You have to beat both fights to get any completion or exploration rewards, but you don't have to do so in one try. In practice, you can break the map up into pieces that you can practice on. You could have also taken many shots at Guillotine, but the energy costs alone made that almost impossible to do without ultimately spending units on energy refreshes. There was no real practical way to break up a single uncollected path into pieces last month. That single path was all or nothing, same as the one single path this month. But it was a more expensive path in energy to execute.
I'm curious to know who finished it because I know that some have finished it but at what cost?
And also do you think this month is fair?
Last month was the first uncollected I have not finished in months although I was still able to complete it by killing guillotine once.
But this month there is only 1 path that is nearly impossible to finish and if you don't finish it you can't even get rewards for completion!
In my opinion it isn't fair at all and just a rip off move but wanted to know what others think.
Fair or rip off?
Completely ok. Great challenge and fun fight. Also way less energy spent
I think it’s completely fair. I like how the final quest is structured and both thanos fights are very well designed. No unavoidable damage, just a lot of abilities that can be countered by good skill, keep the fight very interesting and unique and can be taken down in one fight. Would like to see more of these in future, I agree it’s a much more fun way to finish the EQ than to play against the same boss repeatedly.
I'm curious to know who finished it because I know that some have finished it but at what cost?

I loved it. You only have to fight one lane in the end, and the challenge was amazing. Well done Kabam
