Spending money on Mcoc

I thought that the idea of spending money on this game was to get new/better champs at least some of the time. I have been spending consistently for the last few months and have not been granted the slightest luck with anything new, yet I speak with people that spend no money and they have better champs. I’m on the verge of calling it quits. Ive been playing for two years, this is getting ridiculous. Not to mention that I haven’t pulled a 4star from a phc in months! Probably over 6 months. What is going on?

First of all, what are your objectives in this game? Do you get satisfaction from challenging content, and trying to strategize with your roster to defeat it, or do you simply want to just own certain champions? Are you stuck on content that you simply cannot defeat with your current roster?

There are 100+ champs in this game, and whether or not you acquire them is largely based on RNG. The fact is that you will most often be disappointed if you are only satisfied by acquiring certain champs through crystals.

You’re spending a lot of money towards something with no monetary gain for you, and you are not getting the results you want. I would suggest not spending anymore, and try to have fun. Grind for shards and hope for the best.

My first six five star champs were:

    Jane Foster
    King Groot
    Carnage
    Sym Spidey
    Beast
    Civil Warrior

Extremely frustrating. Then, I’m looking for 10k more mystic T4CC shards. I have 47 T4 frag crystals. I literally only got 720 mystic. Like 8-9000 of every other class.

Out of the 7-8 T4 crystals I’ve opened? 6 science and 2 skill. My best science champs are Antman and Miles.

    Seriously.

Had one five star crystal yesterday after a couple weeks of saving.

    Pulled Blade.

It’s mostly luck, man. And the odds are stacked heavily against you. I’ve spent probably $200 in 3 years. I just grind, have fun, and work with what I have.

Money doesn’t guarantee you anything better, it just gives you more tries at the rare chance of getting something good. Whales can drop hundreds of dollars or more on featured crystals to get that new 5*. I may pick up 1 or 2 a month. I never get the prize, but I don’t expect to. It’s like walking by a slot machine and playing once. I may hit the jackpot, but I probably won’t.. and thats okay,

That's the one problem with the game in general. There is rarely an instance when spending (be it units or actual money) guarantees an exact thing you want. And often there is a range of prizes where you can get the lowest value thing possible which just pisses you off. I retired from competitive play and have spent a little a couple of times, but only when I knew exactly what I was getting. Otherwise, spending on any sort of varied reward crystal and such I deem a waste and don't bother. Seeing the drop rates now just confirms it all. There's nothing in this game I truly need, so I just bide my time, and when I have enough dust, glory and so on, I get what I need. If I get lucky with a good pull, great. I duped my 5* Magik and haven't pulled anything decent since. I could get annoyed, but whatever. It's not spurring me on to buy crystals or do more to get something good again. The game is more fun when you've gone through the step program and arrive at acceptance.

This game is designed to appeal to your obsessive nature. It seeks to spark the gambler in you. I find it is more rewarding to change your way of thinking about it. Just handing the best champions to everyone defeats the purpose of the game itself. If you accept the certainty that the game will not simply give you what you seek, then you will find it much more rewarding, and save a lot of money in the process. Trying to navigate my limited roster to clear content is what makes this game awesome to me. Scanning the map before I go in to find the best team/synergies out of my roster in order to move on is the best part. Sure, pulling six very mediocre five stars before Blade sucks, but that forces me to make decisions to accelerate my progress in the face of bad luck. For instance, I am almost certainly taking my 4* Scarlet Witch to max and using all my stones on her. I held off for quite some time to wait for my big opening I’d been saving for. Sup IM, Magneto, Moon Knight, duped my Ultron, Hood... No science champs for those cats. Pretty mediocre. Of course, I then got lucky as hell with Blade. It happens, man. In the meantime I’ve cleared ROL, am 8 chapters from the collector, clear all EQs every month and grind basic 4* arena for milestones every week. With 4/40 Thor, X-23, Ultron, Hawkeye, Guillotine, Yondu, and AA (unduped).

Just trying to provide inspiration. Haha

I suspect if you were not okay with it, you would just stop going to casinos and putting money in slot machines. And that's okay also: that doesn't mean the casinos are wrong or you're wrong. It just means casino slot machines are not your thing.

I find gambling incredibly fun, I just don’t have the risk acceptance to let myself try more than a trivial amount. Casinos build empires on those who can’t refrain and gamble well beyond their means. I can see how it could happen, so even when I’m in Vegas I limit myself to a few bucks and that’s it.

It is not a problem I necessarily want fixed. We normally think about spending in terms of our own spending. When *I* spend money, what do *I* want for it. But the real question is, when other players spend money, how much farther out ahead of you should they get? I may want my own spending to generate great value, but it would be bad for the game in general if spending generated such good value that spending was a far better way of getting ahead in the game than game play. Right now, spending helps, but only so much, and if you want to get far ahead of the pack you have to spend a tremendous amount of money. And frankly, if you're trying to spend your way to the top I want that to cost a much money as possible. The cost of trying to buy your way to the top is funding the game development for everyone else spending little or nothing.

Great value for your money sounds like a good idea until you realize that the players that spend ten times as much as you will end up a hundred times farther ahead, and the game will have to be balanced around the average spending, and that would be bad for at least half the players. The problem of not getting precisely what you want in the quantities you want when you spend is a problem I want spenders to have, and that's true even though I also occasionally spend on the game.

As has bean stated, spending doesn't increase drop rates. You just end up with more chances at the same rates.

This isn’t a casino at all. I understand that it’s a gamble but at least you hear stories about people winning at the casino. I’ve never heard someone walk into a casino, spend nothing, and come out wealthy. The content is ok. I’ve already taken down Thanos with the roster that I have. I don’t care about the content or it’s challenges. I care about me putting $500 into the game in less that two weeks and only getting the same champs or duping bs champs. Since a casino is what this game is being compared to, where is the high rollers arear where you can’t get anything less than a 4star? And I did get that vision, the 4star not the five star though

This game loves to take your money and give nothing decent in return. .8 % chance at a new 5* champ is what you are throwing your money at.

funny thing is you expect to get somthing from ur money while you don't have to spend i would be upset if this game gave the spenders a quick advantage like most mobile games do keep it up kabam.

i would spend more money if the deals were better. i would say as an constructive opinion is that the disconnect from what people want to buy versus what people are getting offered is alarming and needs to get better. maybe a survey should be done cause 7500 units for a 5* is such a rip off

Hey! We're sorry to see you haven't been lucky in your pulls. Summoners can choose whether or not to invest, and the amount spent does not affect champion rarity. The champions you have already also don't factor into what you pull. Have you worked towards getting a 4-Star Hero Crystal? You can find more info about the way to get them here, which includes Ranked Rewards from the Arenas:

$10 for a chance at a 300 unit crystal for 5* is pretty expensive if you ask me. Hence the reason why there has been less spending on the game recently. Hope Kabam realizes that :-)
