From personal experience, the best advice I could give is to simply enjoy The Contest in your own time, and in your own way.
When it comes to how you "stack up", there are too many factors to definitively say, such as how active you are, what you do most when you play, and so on.
For example, there are players who'll have an hour long session a day and focus on Quests, whereas there are others who have it on for hours at a time completing bits and pieces or grinding Arenas.
For tips on bolstering your roster of Champions, I'm sure our excellent community would be more than happy to give a few pointers, but to get the ball rolling, I'd personally agree with Noob2435 in that selling Champions this early into your game might not be the best move.
Bear in mind that every time you duplicate a Champion, you not only gain Signature Levels to that Champ -making them more powerful- but you also gain Shards toward a Crystal of higher value. (2* dupes give 3* Crystal Shards for example).
Focusing on having fun and doing what you want to do will see you reaping the rewards as long as you're patient.

Your roster is good atleast better than mine. I got my first 3* at level 20 (from login calender) and my first 4*(kamala) at level 30.

I remember having to do act 3 Thanos with 3* at the time.
Keep at it, plow arenas and your roster will grow quickly!
Shards for PHC show up in most every quest, and some even throw full crystals your way. Story quests are a great way to start. Easy 3* crystals for exploration there.
Rank up that Stark spidey if possible.. Will help you clear content crazy quick.. Also hope for a 4* from a phc.. My 3rd phc was a 4* yellow jacket lol
