Dear KABAM team
It's been 2 months, my alliance (IC 02) is facing a balanced opponent in the alliance war. But this morning, I was very surprised when I started playing the war alliance. Our opponents have a very large alliance rating, 3 times greater than our alliance rating. Our Alliance rating 6.9 M vs the opponents with alliance rating 23.3 M.
We just want to ask: What is the basis of the KABAM in determining opponents in the alliance war?

Until your War Rating starts to fall lower, you’ll probably be matched against much stronger teams for now.
Our opponents now 18m. Lol. 6m vs 18m.
The last twice, KABAM give our opponent free reward from AW . Lol. Bad macth making at war season 9. Its not good...

There is no impressive meeting between small alliances and big alliances. KABAM only wants to give free Bonuses to large alliances. disappointing

‘War Rating’ is the only factor used in Alliance War matching process, and that had been that way since Season 1. And we’re in season 9. The process has never once changed.
I repeat if I am not clear: There has never been once where Alliance Rating were used as a war match factor.
What you may have experienced in Season 8 is that your alliance matched with similar war rating range alliance, and these alliance just so happened to be in the region of alliance rating of 8-10M.
But what is abnormal here is an alliance rating of 6.9M has a war rating of 2.6k. Which is why someone earlier asked if your alliance have had big PI players who played in previous wars but has left your alliance? That could have explained what you deem as an ‘huge distortion’ because your alliance rating had taken a large fall.
Let me give you an example. My alliance rating is about 25M with War Rating of 2.8k, ranked Platinum 1. My alliance is currently in battle with another alliance that comes with a War Rating of 2.7k, alliance rating of 24M.
Do you not see the similarity?
Another logical explanation why your war rating is so abnormally high is that your alliance have been winning a lot of war match ups during off AW season, and as a result, it contributed to a very high war rating of 2.6k.
If that’s the case, you’d be expecting to match against a lot of alliances with war rating in the range of 2400-2800 in this season regardless of your alliance rating size. And I can assure you, these opposing alliances are triple of your alliance size.
Don’t believe me? Do a simple test: go to Alliance War tab. Go to ‘Season’ tab and click ‘View Leaderboard’. Go to the last ranking alliance in the Platinum 3 leaderboard (that’s is no. 200). Check its war rating and alliance rating.
Do the same for no. 199, 198, 197 and so forth on the leaderboard. Their War Rating will be very close to each other. And since you’re at Plat3 now, check 3 alliances above you and 3 below you in the leaderboard. You’d be hard pressed to find a single alliance on that leaderboard that comes with a War Rating less than 2,000 and Alliance Rating that is less than 10M.
