One character that I got to learn about recently is Mr. Sinister. As an Alliance War Boss, if he's duped, he is a real pain.
He's a counter to all the hard hitters in the game, including Corvus, Ghost, Stark Spider...... He regains, 70% of all critical damage +1% for every hit on the combo meter of the opponent.
Will transfer any debuffs apply to him to the opponent, including bleed, shock, poison... and if he as the suicide mastery on, he will transfer that to you as well if he lands a SP1.
He also gains a passive buff, that he keeps, every time he KO a mutant, a skill, a science, a mystic, or a cosmique champion. If he KO's a science champion, is regen can get more than 10% increase depending on his sig level ( you do the math 70% + 10% + 1% for every hit on the combo.....)

The best counter to him is GR with SP3...
Sentinel, Darkhawk, and Void also handle him quite well.
