we'd already past the reward cut off date for the season rewards when the announcements was made that the season was to be stopped immediately, so I assumed that meant there would be no more wars full stop till season restart. Why then have we been matched and had placement started ?

But weren't we already in off season before the announcement was made ?

There are still Wars in Off Season, and they can affect your War Rating and your initial standing for the following Season. These just do not contribute to a Season score. Many Alliances take this time to ease up on Wars a little, but that's up to each of you to decide!

You mean current war rating is frozen in the off-season until the next season starts up...

It depends on your War Tier. Higher tiers have a War Rating freeze, while lower ones do not.

We've had a match found but it's for 3 BGs ...we never run 3BGs in war only in AQ ...this is going to stretch us and if rating wasn't frozen it's going to potentially hurt us too

Whoever did matchmaking did it for 3 bgs. Id take the issue up with them.

You can't set for two and get a match for three. I've never seen that before, and I've never heard of that happening to anyone else before. If you actually set for two and it matched for three, open a ticket because that's a very wild bug in the match system.

I'm not sure what you mean by "stretch" you. If you set for two then you only placed two sets of defenders in BG 1 and 2. If the other side has a third BG placed and is bringing a third group of attackers you're not going to be stretched, you're going to straight up lose. They are going to get a full BG of basically auto-perfect explore and attacker points and the boss kill. How were you planning on overcoming that handicap?

DNA, think he means (if they aren’t a full team, or some inactive or don’t participate) that they will “stretch” out the (ie) 21 people over 3 groups instead of 2. About 7 ppl placing defense in each group.

At least they can explore a huge chunk in all groups, and get to boss in each maybe, while preventing a no-defender cakewalk by opponent’s in one group.

    As to original OP commentary..
Not sure how you think that “after the cutoff date” implies that off-season will have already started as of cutoff dates.
Future wars (if there were going to be any, which evidently there are) “after” the announcement was actually when the offseason thus prematurely started. And FYI, off-season thus is extended another week (so 3 weeks in all) so that next season start date is not impacted at all (Dec 4th).

The cut off date for season rewards was on the 8th and the announcement was made on the 12th....thus after the cut off date for season rewards . FYI the season was supposed to end the 18th so wars from the 8th to the 18th didn't count towards season rewards . The announcement then being made after the cutoff date implied that the season had been bought to an early end.... obviously not as it's continuing

Yes, and now we are in the “off-season”, which is normally just 2 weeks inbetween seasons (but this time will be 3 weeks inbetween seasons, with an additional 1 week worth of those “cancelled and formerly” in-season wars from last week).

Maybe only question would be how they handle War Rating increases/decreases for those 3 cancelled wars. Don’t know if Kabam will roll-back any WR changes from those wars or not, as the 1st one of those had ended prematurely by a few hours (affecting maybe one side of the war that could not make it to boss yet while other side had already finished by the outage).

The War Rating adjustment for these next 3 weeks will be as “usual” for off-season (frozen for those in higher tiers, and not frozen for lower tiers).

Even though Wars are “continuing”, they are not part of any “Season”. As is always the case for normally the couple weeks each time before a new Season starts up.
