Ok....the 12th we will have the battlegrounds again, but aren t supposed to be introduced in the game the relic system too? No one talks about them anymore....
Because this game wasn’t built as an equipment based game. The equipment for this game is synergies and awakened abilities. If you want extra abilities then you make a team with those synergies or you work to awaken a champion. Relics will either make the game more pay to win than it already is or they’ll be essentially useless, and I don’t want either of those things. I don’t want another piece of the puzzle to make champions good. I don’t want a champion to be released and be “meh” normally but god tier with this special relic that Kabam hides behind a paywall. Which leads me to my next point that how relics are implemented and monetized will be make or break for them. Obviously Kabam will sell relics for money, but if they become such huge parts of the game and are heavily monetized then it’ll ruin the game. Kabam made a game with equipment and while I applaud the people who took the risk and put in the time and effort to create it, it ultimately didn’t work out. I worry the same will happen with relics.
TL;DR this game wasn’t meant for equipment. Kabam already made a game with equipment and it wasn’t highly received. Heavy Monetization of relics will ruin the game and make pulling a champion less rewarding if you don’t have the specific relic.
I'm not a fan of relics myself and I think there's a higher likelihood of them making the game worse cuz I've seen over the last decade how game companies monetize games and generally, it's not good.
One way I'd like to see relics implimented tho it why not make them act as synergies for Champs. Like if I'm using Angela, have a relic attack to her and give her the Odin synergy without Odin. Would be a fun and not game breaking way to go about it and not let them be used in PVP content like AW or BGs.
Even simple synergies like +150 crit rate or 8% attack, doesn't have to be unique synergies.
I don’t think they ever tied Relics to Battlegrounds. And I don’t think we’ll be seeing relics until after 6* R5, as I believe that’s the next step instead of 7*.
The initial plan was to have them launch together, but we didn't want to launch 2 major new additions to the game at the same time. Too much potential for things to go wrong.
We'll have more information on Relics for you in the next month or two!

They said that the relics would be sold in the battlegrounds store....

I am not super familiar to relics in other games. How does it work? Is it like e.g. a special fire glaife for Corvus so he’ll be able to incinerate on basic hits? Or is it a misunderstanding?
Something tells me we're getting both 7* and relics though not at the same time. What if relics is a 7* only mechanic similar to adrenaline for 6* or 5* sp3 mini? Or my other idea is relics are a squad enhancing mechanic not just a single champ mechanic.

I suspect they're not a replacement for 7*s. I can't see that as a reasonable replacement for a new Rarity. Not in the long-term, anyway. Time will tell what's on the horizon.

I agree. I fully expect 7* to arrive sooner rather than later. I'm just wondering if relics is a 7* only mechanic or if they are gonna be a whole squad enhancer or single champ enhancer. Possibly both.
Imma be real. If its either 7* or relics. Just introduce 7* champs. I dont want to see relics touch this game
I'm curious, what do you think Relics would look like if you don't want them in the game?
At one point they'll probably be +X% HP and attack. For now will likely be just minor things like increased potency on dome abilities, or +Y armor rating or some other stat

Thank you. Glad to hear an update on this feature! Looking forward to the full release of battlegrounds
7* champs will be the end for a lot of people, no one wants to go through the whole episode of chasing a new roster just like we did with 4*s, 5*s and again with 6*s. It's old already

So I understand your point, and to some extent agree with it. On paper I don’t feel like I’d be happy to go through another round of chasing new champions.
But what is a realistic alternative? I feel like we can all agree that if nothing is added then the game will die out and we will all be forced to quit anyway.
So what is the alternative? Relics could be it, but really it’s just the same grind for different things. Instead of a 7* Hercules you’ll be chasing an “Epic Belt of Hercules”. The chase will be the same, am I missing something or is that what people want?

MCoC 2 with a new game engine
Your solution to add longevity to the game is start a new one and end this one?
R5 5* can still handle every piece of content in the game, rather easily. Battlegrounds is probably the one thing where you “really need” 6* to be competitive, if you want. All story mode, EQ, SQ, AQ and mostly AW (save master and p1 and p2) can be handled by 5*. So introducing 7* will really only affect the alliances that want a top 20 spot.
Yeah, it would suck to have 7* implemented, but as long as Kabam scales it how they did with 6*, I see no problem for everyone outside of the top 3% of players on those specific alliances.

Actually, in many ways the chase for 6* champs has been a lot better than the chase for 5* champs was before it. For me personally, I cannot see how the game could have possibly turned out better if 6* champs had never arrived.
I don't like exercising but I do it. I don't like starting over in online games but I do it as well, because, and perhaps I'm in the extreme minority, I only play games I actually like playing, and having something new to chase is why I play at all. If I want to play a game just to reach the top of it and look down, I'll play a single player game with a beginning, a middle, and an end.
In some ways, having no new rarity would be like AQ rewards being awarded based on historical points and not weekly points. At some point, everyone simply locks into where they are relatively speaking, and while it is not mathematically impossible for a new alliance to climb the leaderboards, at some point it becomes mostly pointless to try. No new rarity does that on a larger scale. At some point there's no point in new players joining the game.
We lost players when we introduced 6* champs. We needed to lose those players, because the cost of keeping them was simply too high. Relics are coming, and 7* champs (in some form or another) are eventually coming, and if we lose players because of it, those are players we simply have to lose because the cost of keeping them is still too high.
A game that loses some of its most veteran players might be in trouble. But a game that cuts off its access to new players is definitely going to die. That's no choice at all.
