Re: Shame on you Kabam
I would feel somewhat bad for the team except for the fact that this is such a dumb and simple mistake. To even call this a bug is a joke. Updating a crystal is not splitting the atom or putting a man on Europa. Most likely there’s a dude who was supposed to update and double check a SQL file and they just didn’t do it.
7-Star Crystal Pool Bug: A Fair Solution for Everyone
Kabam could just give back all the 7-star crystals that players opened after the update, but in a special pool that doesn’t include the new champions. That way, both sides would be satisfied.
Everyone would benefit from the doubled crystals: each original crystal would have one roll in the pool with the new champions, and one roll in the pool without them. Fair for everyone.
Re: The Problem with The Compensation
Oh, for God’s sake: The psychoanalysis of “those who are jealous” is absolutely ridiculous.
This is a simple premise. Everyone who opened a crystal yesterday — every single person — is gonna understand what I am about to type:
I opened four Basics yesterday. I knew there was a bug, and I waited. Here’s what I got:
- Sentinel
- Quicksilver
- Sorcerer Supreme
- Venom the Duck
See the issue here?
Only one of those characters — Sentinel — is one of 21 kits that were added yesterday.
The math — math, not feelings or jealousy or psychoanalysis — says that was pretty lucky to pull that Sentinel. The rears of them — along with about, what, 125 more? 150? Were already in the Basic Pool.
No one was guaranteed to open one of those 21 kits. My opening showed how it actually was supposed to work: The odds were heavily NOT in favor of opening one of the 21 kits.
Giving people 1-to-1 compensation WHILE allowing them to keep the benefits of opening the crystals before the fix AND giving them a completely equal opportunity to get kits that they were not guaranteed to open in the first place is absurd.
That’s not “jealousy.” That’s math
Re: The Problem with The Compensation
Well no, they need to get comp'd but the comp is so busted that everyone else who missed out feels like a jackass.
The comp would be perfect if it was precise (ie. claw everything back and give the right ones), but they took the easiest way out and gave them such an obvious advantage that others feel horrible for waiting or not even being around.
I wouldn't say jealousy but it's a competitive game and players want similar treatment, can you blame them? If they got bugged crystals then got fixed ones later, it's pretty fair for everyone else to get bugged crystals to even things out.
I have a relatively strong roster and I opened 50 after the fix and got 5 nice first awakenings that could affect either prestige and functionality (first dupes on Cull and Quicksilver), a handful of max sig crystals that will give ascension stuff, a handful of prestige boosts, and a jumpstart on a prestige champ that was low sig (+40 on Okoye).
This wasn't just nothing.

Re: The Problem with The Compensation
What are you on about when the radiance and BG store are updated?
They advise in advance that a store is being updated. People can choose to hold or not to hold. And due to caps on those currencies, people can't hold indefinitely.
Compensation for Raids almost always comes in the form of revives. If they drop a package, it's for pain and suffering. It isn't a 30 minute "lucky" or "unlucky" window that doesn't have the safeguard of an entire week and an entire battle group to help get through a raid. You're drawing really odd parallels.
We aren't expecting AAA performance. We're expecting them not to continuously make the same mistakes over and over again and then be inconsistent about how they resolve them.
Only a few months ago we had the Zola titan screw up and they posted in the Zola comp announcement they didn't want to award the "lucky few", yet this is exactly what they've done here.
The issue is that this is on the back of them trying to give all the warm and fuzzies before Cyber saying we will be better, we will do better and then it's the same again. At this point we collectively are the fools… fool me once etc etc.
And I have no idea what your TLDR is supposed mean about skill issues. You think it takes skill to open crystals early? You mean people need to stop being overly comped to address skill vs roster gap? I think what people find "unfair" is the idea that those that do the "right thing" i.e. wait for fixes etc, almost always lose out.
Re: The Problem with The Compensation
People pay money to get an advantage in the game. People getting 1000+ sig stones, gold, iso etc for free is an unfair advantage. Because of Kabam's incompetence.
Those who opened the non updated crystals deserve comp, yes. But the method kabam decided on for comp creates a disparity, and contradicts their stated goal of fairness in compensation.
They could have simply offered anyone that pulled crystals early a 1:1 version of the updated crystals and everyone else a 1:1 version of the non updated crystals. Boom, no advantage to anyone.
TheyrTheyre CHOOSING to create that imbalance.
If one doesn't think it's a big deal, not much of an imbalance, thats fine. I disagree. But people claiming there isn't a disparity here are just plain wrong. It's simply a fact that the comp creates a new problem, and an imbalance, and it contradicts their stated goals of fairness.
BY FAR the best solution would have been to implement proper testing as Crashed stated, but I guess that team isn't up and running still.
