I remember Kabam placing a True Focus on THE WHOLE Boss Island to counter Quake. But the side effect was really bad since it also affected champs like Tigra, Ghost, Mr. Negative, Kitty, etc. It indirectly reduced the number of options for the Boss Island just so they can increase the difficulty while at the same time making Quake ineffective. At the current meta that will make a lot of champs ineffective like Count Nefaria, Viv Vision, Prowler, etc. all of which are common champions used in War.

Just to counter one broken champ. I was a heavy Quake user but war and planning for quests is more fun without her.

Most of the things you state stop her don’t actually stop her in practice.
• Bane: The timer only starts once a champ gets hit. With Quake, the whole point is to never hit or get hit by the opponent.
• Coldsnap: Which champion or node is inflicting Coldsnap on Quake when she refuses to touch the opponent? It’s pretty much just Iceman, who only inflicts it once on fight start so you can just wait that out
• True Strike: Again, this is only relevant in one case, which is when Kabam puts that node where True Strike is permanently active at fight start. That’s one node, has a lot of collateral damage against innocent champions, and can’t be expected to be put on every potential challenge they don’t want Quake to cheese.
• Large Healthpools: Lmao. No. Increasing the window where you can make a mistake is not a relevant balancing factor, and Quake can still totally do high healthpools if she wants to. This is not remotely a counter.
Generally speaking, despite anti-evade being fairly common, most of them don’t actually stop Quake because their trigger is predicated on the idea that someone is making contact with someone, which Quake thinks is a rather foolhardy assumption to make.

Quake maybe not being the best thing in AW and BGs doesn’t matter because she still solos basically any challenge content that doesn’t put in specific stopgaps against her, not just Story quests but also basically all of the non-LoL style Everest Content and everything else. Diversifying your roster? Quake handles almost everything, just fill out the few gaps she can’t. Reading the nodes? Sure, none of the nodes were one of the 5 anti-Quake ones, that’s all you needed to read. Adapting your playstyle around the challenges presented for a dynamic and unique experience? F that, Quake and Bake time. Do what she always does with no variation and win. If there isn’t an ability that is a total off switch, she is dashing back into that corner and charging heavy until the opponent’s health hits 0.

Except Kabam has gone on the record stating quake was never intended to be played the way people play her and she should have been changed a long time ago.

Frankly, regardless of if she’s broken or not (she is), she’s just boring and flattens the game to an unreasonable degree. If the opponent counters her evade, you never use her. If they don’t, she’s automatically a top option. She plays the same in literally every matchup that doesn’t bork her because her playstyle allowing her to never once interact with the opponent at all removes basically any and all nuance to the fight, and her 100% Concussion is a good safety net against the rare instances where the opponent might threaten to actually make her play the game. Until they decide to give her the Magik treatment and rework her, I’m happy to leave her in the dust as a 5*.
