Star-Lord Stellar Forged Review: A Missed Opportunity

In a subforum chat on Line, I expressed how excited I was for Star-Lord Stellar Forged.

I had saved enough mats to take him to R4 sig 160, but then I watched some CCP creators play him in LoL. The fights were disappointing, taking 2.5 to 3 minutes.

Granted, some creators could use extra IQ points because they were flat out playing the champ wrong.

But if the notable ones weren’t doing well, maybe I shouldn’t rank him up … ?

Nope, fudge it.

And into LoL we went to do some mythbusting. Turns out even more creators could use some IQ points.

Thankfully, managed fights in the 1.5 minute range. Which means he is good.

The verdict:

SLSF is extremely fun to play, and he hits like a truck. The problem is that it really looks like the designers tried to get away with the bare minimum. It was pretty obvious to me when I read his kit.

There was a missed opportunity to do a pre-fight ability a-la-Nico. Let me switch from Incinerate to Coldsnap in certain matchups.

And why doesn’t he have any utility? If you’re not going to give him utility, then at least make his Fragility and Incinerate debuffs passive, because against purify champs he does not perform well at all. Try him against Agent Venom and Crossbones, useless.

That’s my summary. To take this champ from an 7/10 to a 9/10, I would just recommend these changes:

1) Add an Elemental Gun pre-fight to switch between Coldsnap and Incinerate

2) Change his Fragility and Incinerate debuffs to passives

I hope Kabam takes this feedback into consideration because they’re two minor changes that can have a major effect on this champion’s viability in the game.

Analogy: you have the skills and roster of a kid in middle school and you’re in the Major Leagues with Lionel Messi. You’re bound to face Messi, who’s better than you.

That’s what unranked battlegrounds is for. Or you can stick to friendlies.

Incursions Write Up

Angela +Odin + Galan pre-fights - Second Chance, a healing hack [I prefer healing when opponent is heal blocked on second medium, but she also does great with toxic siphon - you just lose the heal block utility which can come in handy]. After Galan defeats an opponent in the first room, use prefight on Angela, swap for Heimdell. Make ssure you have a relic equipped. Then you can just parry, mlllm, mlllm, special, repeat for almost every fight. Suicides are great because you heal when indestructible. Heimdell gives you two opportunities if you die. If they are stun immune, hold block for their heavy, then punish it.

Lots more strategies are out there [that might even be better if you're not carying], but this one is so OP that I only read the nodes on the first room to make sure the nodes are from the same pool and nothing new was added. Even went to zone 110 without reading a single node except when I died at the very end. I did die on purpose two times to verify that I wasn't cheating if KABAM every wonders, but even that was difficult to actually die when I wanted to just standing there. Have done 4 carries for alliance mates [ not all rooms are linked degen, which makes it even easier, specifically 11-15]. The opponent is far more important than the nodes imo, so plan against the opponent first.

I wanted Fantasma to win, and then after she got booted out of the vote I wanted Colossus to lose. Needless to say, I got absolutely nothing I wanted.

Only silver lining for me is that Stormphoenix lost. That would've upset me more than Colossus.

I’d rather they update Colossus to give him this ability from Storm’s kit

The only reason I voted for Colossus AoA is to hopefully have a viable version in game

Its not supposed to match based on prestige. Its only supposed to match whoever is in your same current bracket. If the person you matched in your bracket has a stacked roster its because they either just started climbing or dont really play battlegrounds. If your in a high bracket and still matching nothing but stacked rosters, then you've reached your plateau and need to upgrade your roster. Its really that simple.

Re: M’Baku or Blue Marvel? Who are you more excited for?

For me im gonna say m'baku he seem simple and straight forward and has good utilities with his anti evade and unstoppable, counter punch like gameplay and some good immunities. Also they never adressed the marked passive looking thing which i feel could be his awakened ability. Cant wait to try him in a week! 😊
