Re: Let’s talk crashed
Newsflash guys, when Kabam tells you "We are testing something" have in mind they are not testing for your benefit, they are testing ways to benefit themselves. You guys really think the Valiant Gauntlet test was to see how people perform, the difficulty or rewards? They probably got the data of how many times people reset and avoided using revives and the outcome was this energy BS.
Treat us as adults? Well you guys can start by being transparent on intentions, instead of acting as buddies and putting make up on changes that are significantly worse for us.
Re: Let’s talk crashed
I can not speak for everyone, however, I know as an adult I prefer to have all the facts and all the information when decisions are being made. So if we are going to be treated like adults let's get down to doing just that.
- What are the financial goals set for the game? I understand you do not make the decisions, but it is clear that choices have been made and the monetization demand has increased. The amount of spending required to complete deals has more than doubled in a very short amount of time combined with the fact that we went from 2 major sales a year to a sale every month. Knowing what the expectations are can allow everyone to decide if the game is going to be something they can continue to support. Not knowing, based on the current evidence, leads me to believe it is only a short amount of time before the game is going to be too expensive to actually stay enjoyable.
- Do the powers that be actually understand that Energy = Engagement? Adults do not always have a lot of free time because of other adult responsibilities. Which means when we do have time to actually play, we want to be able to play. If I spend all my energy doing the daily quest and do not have refills at the time, then my playtime is done and I may or may not have available time when the energy refills naturally. I have never understood the restrictive energy concept in any game other than a blatant attempt to make money.
- Y'all say you value our feedback and listen to what we say, then make decisions that are exactly opposite of what we are saying. The current EQ fiasco is a prime example of this. We beta tested Valiant EQ formats and they were getting overall good reviews and then you unleash this monstrous change that is in no way what we were asking for. It feels very disingenuous to say our feedback is valued when we these choices are made.
- Finally, clear and consistent communication is the key. There are times we go days without a comment on the forums from a Kabam employee, then we will get a few messages, and then days of silence again. There are many of us who post daily, and we have full time jobs and other responsibilities. If we can find the time to post that regularly for a game we enjoy, then I do not understand how people whose job it is to interact with the community can not be posting daily. I know that we can be an unruly bunch, I have no disillusions about that at all. That said, when we do get communication, it should not be snarky sassy comments, mostly looking at Mike on this one.
Finally, a bonus challenge if you really want open and honest communication. Give us a road map for the game. Blizzard started doing year long road maps for WoW a couple years ago and it made a huge difference in the community there. You don't have to tell us what champions are coming over the next year, it doesn't have to be that specific, but more than the general vagueness in the QVC style live streams. However, if we knew Rank 5 7* materials will start here, 8* (we know it will happen) will start here, this feature is here, etc that would improve things. Right now all we can do is speculate on any such things based very loosely on past time lines, which are not the best indicator of the future anymore around here.
Re: Let’s talk crashed
The Titan MISTAKE message was not speaking to people who spent TIME and MONEY as they were adults. It was as wrong and condescending as Vega states in his video.
Re: Let’s talk crashed
Stop tickling their balls all the time. They don't care about you. These changes aren't nessecary at all, they are done by choice and from an entirely profit driven perspective. Some analyst has looked at the data and asked why they are giving all this energy away for free when we could be selling it. Screw engagement and a happy player base, give me mo money!
Re: Stop making bad decision KABAM !!!
well I was coming here to make a post about Kabam farming Ls, but hey you guys are already on it. Where did the decision to remove eldermarks come from. Why are you all making decisions that are so enraging? Was this supposed to be a W? How?
I liked being able to play BGs without using energy (through elder marks) I don’t love the game mode but I grind towards gc every season. Not having to use energy for a game mode I reluctantly grind is great.
This isn’t even great for the excessive BG grinders. Eldermarks was a great option for the more casual BG player. I can’t remember the last time I read some new change from Kabam that got me excited.
Kabam you are ruining the game. Here’s an amazing idea fix the AI, update health potions. GIVE US QOL CHANGES THAT WE HAVE ACTUALLY ASKED FOR!!!!
Re: Let’s talk crashed
My boss told me if I talked honestly with the community about the business side of the game I would paint a bullseye on myself. Most devs don't do this, but I think treating a community like adults is the best approach.
A lot of the criticisms are fair. I work hard to try to make the game better. A lot of what me and my team have worked on has gone well, but there are also decisions we have to make that players don't like. And yes, when it comes to the energy economy and prestige 30, I'm one of the most senior people involved in those decisions. I'm working on a dev diary that will explain why we have made those decisions. I'm sure many will disagree with the choices, but at least you will all know why.
Having said that, I don't think it's fair to say I have made the game all about monetization. I don't get to set our revenue targets, it's not my call how much money we are expected to make.
Edit: Also, I'm one of the more senior people who is visible to the community, but you seem to imply I'm in charge of the game. I am not.
MCOC ONCE AGAIN AT THE CROSSROADS
It should never be taken for granted for a mobile game to last forever, nothing last forever anyway
Every month after 10 years of MCOC should be taken as a critical milestone, MCOC is on its way to be 11 years old mobile game
Yet the direction of the game has changed course drastically, players seems fed up with the multitude of changes all at once
EQ has increased difficulty and is going to be pulled out soon, this is a first time in the history of MCOC, I applaud the move to make it easier so more players can play the monthly content
SQ has increased difficulty with the same rewards when it was much easier
Energy refills have been reduced, probably for monetization reasons
It seems like Kabam is trying to maximise profit while the game last before the game shuts down
Personally I don't see MCOC shutting down anytime soon, MCOC can last a few more years if properly run but the changes introduced recently seems to be rather big moves that players have a hard time adapting to
Not every change is bad, I can support some of the changes like top 30 prestige bcos it allows me to see the strength of my members in my alliance, they are all valiants but now I can see their real strength and know who to help to grow their account
I also witnessed many valiants joining my alliance and stopped playing for whatever reasons that I do not have a chance to ask
I do hope the game can improve every month and continue to exist for years to come, in order for that to happen players must be treated as stakeholders in this game and give honest feedback whenever wherever
Let's have a honest discussion and list all the points so Kabam can read our feedback and respond to us in due course
Re: Let’s talk crashed
Decisions as of lately have been pretty terrible.
This game has lasted 10 years and Crashes ideas to bring change is great but the implementation has been horrible.
From EQ being swapped and changed around multiple times for the worst version of it to be released, complaints about lack of energy and now they take away energy?
They've gone back to ignoring theyre players, there was a time whete we felt heard and now it's gone again
Re: Let’s talk crashed
On one hand you talk about treating us as adults and on the other hand take away the freedom to play the game as we need or when we need? Energy refills were allowing us to play when we have free time. Now we are forced to login when energy refills. You know what this will do? Make the adults play less. If that’s what the desired outcome from the game team is then mission accomplished.
