Re: Shame on you Kabam
I mean, this is the kind of time I feel slightly sympathetic for the game team. There's literally no solution that will feel fair to everyone.
Did we not learn from the 1250 Mythic crystal debacle in 2023 that Kabam simply don't have the wherewithal to claw back through thousands of accounts? Not forgetting that the people who opened potentially hundreds of 7* crystals within minutes are probably amongst their strongest and most reliable customers...
They were never going to please everyone.
I agree with @ESF that the 1:1 fix might have been a bit generous; given the RNG involved in a pool of approaching 200 champs. So personally I might have suggested something like a 1:4 replacement, possibly even with 7* Nexuses because yes: people were targeting specific champs.
Would it be appropriate to give something to people unaffected? That's a tough one. Is it rewarding people for 'doing the right thing' that actually, they were completely unaware of? Or is it a mechanism to prevent the compensated group leaping ahead too fast in a competitive game?
Given the potential impact of this on a prestige etc, I'd advocate for a follow-up 'goodwill' bundle to be distributed to everyone who doesn't get the first compensation; possibly reflecting half the value of the average payout.
But if that doesn't happen, I'm not going to put the game down. I'll shrug and keep playing; because I've been here before, and I know I'll be here again.
Re: Shame on you Kabam
LOL You know the funny thing about that, Mags? That would’ve happened for one of the few times I was livid about something, in game, enough to consider quitting. My memory might not line up totally correctly, but it might have been around the time that Act 6 was locked to 4-stars or they announced that the 5-star Featured was progression-based.
See, some people might think that this response derails the thread, but it actually doesn’t.
Think about it for a second, and what we’re talking about in this thread: Arbitrary decisions ALWAYS affect players more than the simple premise behind the arbitrary decision.
For instance: When Kabam locked Act 6 to 4-stars, the IDEA made sense. Hit pools were too small, and OP synergies aren’t what the game was designed to be in spirit. Made sense.
But what happened in reality is that it gave people with larger/better rosters an advantage in advancing through the content, even though someone with a smaller roster had done nothing wrong prior to that arbitrary decision.
See what I am getting at?
Awarding 1-to-1 compensation SOUNDS like it makes sense. But when you peel back a few layers, it’s actually an arbitrary decision that will give some players an advantage over other players who have done nothing wrong.
That shouldn’t happen.
Kabam has said recently that one of the things they are trying to hold as a value statement is “Do you want it done quickly or do you want it done right.”
1-to-1 compensation is quick.
It’s not right.
Re: Marvel games on mobile ranked by a game website
Mcoc will always be s+ to me sorry.
I hate the monetization sometimes but I love this game 🤷🏾
Also I've played future fights its aight but its very repetitive barely any "new design spaces" and the animations have gotten stale and uninspiring.
Re: Who Gets the 7* Tech Gem?
Thanks a lot for the input. You’re actually starting to sway me toward Ironheart which wasn’t where I expected to end up. Is she pretty straightforward to use or does she need a proper rotation? Also I’ve only got around seventy sig stones at the moment. Would that even be enough to make Prowler worth it?
Re: Who Gets the 7* Tech Gem?
Ironheart gets a decent boost from her Sig - longer debuffs which grant her more damage and utility; she gets a decent Bulwark Vs Specials (so gets more tanky) and a bit of regen which comes in handy in questing/Incursions.
She's one of the most adaptable champs in the game - my first r4, and she's amazing, especially if you run Despair/Inequity. I even use mine in BGs as a safe option for defenders like Zola, Bullseye, Onslaught, Photon, Jean, High Evolutionary. She probably won't cut it if you're a high-tier competitive player; but if you're one of the huddled masses like me, she can do a lot.
If you're big into BGs, and have 180-200 Sig stones to spare, then Prowler becomes pretty beastly at high Sig.
Re: Extended compensation
My 2 cents on this problem, they are just addressing people who opened as being affected and are treating them like victims, but everyone who had crystals to open on that very moment were affected by the same problem.
The thing is, giving a 1:1 crystal to only those who opened feels wrong, they would be benefiting prom their error and will create discrepancy between who opened or not.
Things would be different if the crystals were empty, but they got champs and shards and will double that.
Re: 7* basic still broken?
The reel is irrelevant. She was in the crystal at the time they turned over.
Re: 7* basic still broken?
It was fixed 10 hours ago. And Okoye wasn’t impacted anyway, the champs from the Titan came over fine.
Re: Extended compensation
Amazing how many viable solutions are presented on the forum. This is another great one.
it’s like Kabam huddled into a meeting room and actively picked the worst possible option.
Re: Extended compensation
This is perfect — I was trying to explain this point yesterday, and you did it better than I did.
There’s a lot of reasons that 1-to-1 isn’t really what should happen, but the biggest one is that the very premise of doing it that way is based on the concept that “every crystal opened could have been one of the 21 new characters,” which is simply a horrendous application of logic.
Yes, every crystal opened COULD have been one of the 21 new characters.
However, the inverse is also true: Every crystal opened had significantly greater odds of NOT BEING one of the new characters.
Compensation awarded 1-to-1 defies the very foundation of this game, which is RNG — there isn’t a single person out there who opened any amount of crystals yesterday EXPECTING every single one to be one of those 21 kits.
That is the problem with the 1-to-1 compensation — it’s rewarding something that math says wouldn’t have happened EVEN IF THE CRYSTAL WAS PERFECTLY OPERATING.
@Halaster is correct: Math needs to be a component of the compensation — the affected are not harmed because they get to keep everything they opened.
What should not be allowed is the ignoring of the fact that no one was guaranteed one of those 21 kit every time they opened a crystal even if it worked perfectly
