But why just Officers ?
EVERYONE should be able to better see whether they are adding a duplicate champ or not (yes, if you scan 50 champs, but few actually bother checking the 50 grid). How about even a Filter when selecting your champs.
And maybe “MARK” other Dup Champs for review (if you have a better one, so the other person can be notified and change theirs to a different champ).

i did use ghost rider relic but it wasnt awakened so i didnt have the stagger effect of the relic. i just completed the abyss #villain challenge using the team mentioned and took approx 10 revives but i was finally able to finish it. most revives went to collector. but yea even without nullify, mojo did really good in controlling the duration of unstoppable. thanks for the advices.

There are technically two gems available. One for both Valiant and Elder players, and one just for Elder players.
To answer OP's question, I would just echo what others have already said. The path to Elder is already open to f2p players in game. I got it without even spending any units on my main account, and by spending a couple of thousand units on my baby account (and that was just because I got impatient and wouldn't wait to restock my revives). So to me, it seems quite excessive to spend that many units just to get to the final r5.
But at the same time, it depends on how far away from that final r5 you are and what kind of content you'd have to complete to get to it. If you "just" need to explore Act 9 or do the Carinas, those options are open to you immediately and I would recommend completing those things rather than just dumping units in this event. However, if you've already done those things and have instead missed some of the previous Apex Coliseum rewards, I understand that there's not a clear way forward since you can't immediately catch up on those missed rewards. Especially not if you want it specifically before July 4th.
In that case, I would maybe suggest that you wait until the next livestream. I think that'll be next week, right? If Kabam reveals that there will be (or won't be) enough t5a next month to get you to a third r5 champ, you can make a more educated decision as to whether or not it's worth spending all of those units in this event. There are still 11 days left of the event, so you should be able to wait for the livestream and make your decision after you know what next month is going to have on offer.
That's what I would do, anyway.
