This is by far the worst content in the game. I want to like it. But the time taken to sit and wait while an over powered roster beats you into submission. Where every matchup has full rank 4 and 5s. It doesn’t seem to matter who I bring or ban, I loose 3/4 of the matches. So no possible progression without spending for shields. Forcing people into an unfun game mode is a poor choice.

There is no doubt that BG grinding has become very frustrating for everyone. It's very time consuming and simple progression takes hours of grinding based on match ups. A bad match up and you lose your hard earned progress if you don't spend units to buy victory shields. A lot of times for this reason most people have opted out of BG.
But this season adding the Blade piece made everyone come back to it. And the meta along with the already frustrating BG mechanism is making most MCOC users hate the game out of utter frustration. People have left the game over the years due to this kind of grinding frustration. People have also come back to the game when Kabam realised this kind of situation and fixed with new game modes or contents that ensures quality of life.
At this point I can only request Kabam to give away this Blade piece to everyone. They have given away at least one piece for quite a few of the champs earlier.
For BG, maybe remove the penalty for loss so that as long as you win you progress and not get punished for losing or a mistake in game or a bad match up.
I myself is still struggling far behind from Vibranium 1. I know it is same for a lot of us. Sure few of us have already progressed but for majority it is a frustrating grind.

Did you try with suicide masteries? I didn't, but fortunately I got into GC after struggling for a bit in Diamond 2 and Vibranium 3 and 2. I beat many accounts that are way stronger than mine (and occassionally lost to players with lesser rosters than min, maybe due to complacence and over confidence).
If you are having trouble with the protection node, the best way to remove it is to consistently punish special or heavy with a heavy. With some smart bans and draft strategy, and a slice of luck, getting to GC is possible even for accounts without multiple R5s.
Oh, I forgot to add. Dont forget to use victory shields judiciously. I used two of them in Vib 2 just at the cusp of breaking into GC. More often than not, they would make a huge difference between progression and getting stuck in the same tier.

I think its was a perfect demonstration of what bgs is now compared to a few years ago. His roster was slightly different, but not underpowered. Just without the same top 20 meta options. Seatin played some phenomenal games using skill and still didnt stand a chance. It could not have been any more clear what the issues with BGs are, and that needs to be taken on board the next time Kabam feels the need to make casual players play bgs.

It won't matter.
The devs running MCOC right now are clowns.
They're not skilled players, they're not skilled game managers, all they know how to do is throw the game in the gutter while trying to fleece the megawhales for all their (or their parents') life savings.
The only hope for people like us who care about the future of MCOC is that the monetization schemes tank and layoffs happen at MCOC and we get new leadership and new direction and new community managers.

The later part of that message is not for you. Whatever is the meta, is just a meta, it's for only one season. Hating the meta is subjective.
You are not whining about the piece but many are, they need to work on it. It ain't gonna be free.
Sure, this is no charity. People wanting free piece are not gonna get it without putting in work. How I know? Cuz my alt account been there, couldn't hit GC for dguilly piece. I worked on my account. I didn't moan about unfairness.
I'll call out every entitlement I see. Call it whatever you want, the truth is hard to handle for these entitled softies.
