This was a promo code that CCP members get to giveaway to their followers, 5x codes each.

One of the codes wasn't used in time, so we extended the expiry of the code, which led to it not being limited to a one-user use. When this was discovered somehow, it started spreading.

There is no conspiracy. The CCP doesn’t get anything to promote anything. Nobody is getting banned from the CCP because of it.

A free key was already available in the webstore for everyone, and given the sheer volume of priorities the team is juggling right now, it's unlikely there will be any clawback for those who redeemed the code.
Re-enabling or extending it doesn't appear feasible at this time.
