Basically, every week there's been a competition between three players chosen from the community who go up to Marvel in New York and have a three-way competition in the game. Once the three competitors are chosen players can enter a contest for a 5* crystal and energy refills. One player chosen gets the crystal. Everyone who enters at all gets energy refills. How many energy refills depends on whether the community at large picks the winner. Whichever competitor gets the most votes to be the winner determines the energy refill award: if they come in first we get three, second we get two, third we get one.
The community has guessed right in all but one week, so we've been getting a ton of energy refills.
The energy cost! The difficulty of the content is already enough, so why are you punishing people with the 3 energy per step? It feels bad if you messed up on the first champion of the quest that you’d have to spend 15-18 energy restarting the quest to get to that first champion? The 3 energy per step serves no purpose and no benefit. Please change this.
That's actually the purpose to the energy cost (or at least one of them): to make it more costly to die. If it cost one energy, dying wouldn't be so bad: just exit and start over. Exiting and starting over is a valid strategy: I do it all the time on hard content. But it comes with a cost. Your choice is revive and push on, or exit and start over but have to burn energy. The reward for beating the defender skillfully is that you don't have to do either of those things.
I see your point, but there are times where with a particular champion having a set of node combinations and with the AI’s behavior on top of that - the odds could be very well against you, which is not your fault. So where should we draw the line? I don’t mind Kabam introducing some difficulty, but if the difficulty involves taking “fun and interactive” damage (i.e. Stun Immune Howard the Duck in Variant 3, Dormammu, Magik, etc.) or a passive AI (like Hyperion on a 100 or 200% power gain node) why should I be punished?
