On a serious note there definitely are things which affect what we call 'luck' but is much more surely set by an algorithm. I've poured over data and openings to establish some sort of trend and have noticed the following:
1- What you spend definitely affects what you pull. This is broken down into many facets. If you spend to get crystals, if you spend to get resources, if you spend to get units.
2- What resources you have affects what you pull. From what I can see if your sat on a load of resources your a lot less likely to get a god tier as they cant then sell you the resources. Someone who has hoarded 125 mutant sig stones is a lot less likely to pull Namor than someone who has none. This will be tied to the above spending habits.
3- Other variables may come into play I suspect but i cant back it up. Location, alliance, etc. These champs are worth a lot of money. Take 6* Dr Doom. He is probably worth, if sold, $200-300 if not more. There is no way they would leave a valuable resource such as this up to blind luck. Something IS controlling the supply of this product. @DorkLessons pulled one from a batch of 5. From memory its a 1 in a 1000 shot to get him. There is no way i can believe that can happen except in extreme rare cases. I would say that they may allocate so many Dr Dooms to a certain geographical location or only so many to each alliance. Ms.Evol once said that you need to be one of the first in your alliance to get the featured for the best chance. Shes onto something here.
This algorithm is kabams closest guarded secret so don't for a minute believe that luck plays any part. The only control players can hope to have is to somehow make sense of when and how god tier pulls are generated and exert some sort of control over it that way. Would be good if we had a statistical analyst in the community that could work on breaking this code somehow.
Anyone care to share any odd pulls of observations that point towards something bigger being at work?
Examples: 1- I saw on the alliance feed once 2 of the same 5* champs pulled back to back. Sure I've heard of 3 being pulled as well. The odds of this are nigh on impossible.
2- New players ALWAYS get a four star from a PHC early on and as noted by @RichTheMan 's fiancee Emma, she landed a five star Warlock from ONE crystal which i again think was a 1 in 1000. Also have seen a brand new player open a 5 star Kang from one crystal.
These are obviously rigged pulls to hook new players in. I don't have a problem with that but if its obviously rigged, how is it rigged?
An ally member had pulled a 6* Ghost minutes earlier, so when Howard rolled around that duck might as well have stabbed me through the heart! I thought the 6* Hulkbuster dupe last time was the nadir but apparently I have further to fall.

Here is what it looks like.
Just be carful. This bizarre book is bound in human flesh and inked blood.
