What even is this Thread? Is it an ode to Seatin, or a mass vent?
Could it not be both? A major figure in the game's history is on the verge of leaving, bringing up some really good points about what's wrong with the game right now.
A major figure of the game's history? No offense to Seatin, but that's a bit fanboyish. He's not even in the CC anymore. He's had his good points and his bad just like anyone else.
He has 257K subscribers on YouTube. He is arguably the most major figure in the game's history as far as content creators go, and reach of their platform. None of the other figures get the views and interaction he does, whether he's in the CCP or not.
I see some on here bashing him and saying "he doesn't speak for all players" - but he literally never claimed he did. He himself didn't even share the video on this thread. He is allowed to have an opinion and I would think anyone who seriously plays this game should WANT to hear his thoughts on the current state of the game and their issues. The fact that this thread did turn into a venting session should be telling, that maybe there's actually a lot of players who agreed with his points and are feeling the same thing. It seems to have struck a nerve and I guarantee there are other content creators, who are IN the program, who have already agreed with him or will after this makes the rounds in social media circles.
Why anyone is begrudging a huge long time influential player of his opinion is beyond comprehension to me. Is this not the place for a discussion about the game, ON the discussion board for the game? Come on guys.
@GroundedWisdom what if you’re not lucky enough to pull the specific counters huh? I’m f2p with a stacked roster still missing quake, ghost, doom, warlock, and a lot of champs needed for specific nodes. Hard content should be skill capped, not roster capped. Do you know that GM can be soloed by any champ? That’s a truly difficult fight that can be done with SKILL. You can’t comment on something you haven’t reached, so stop it
@GroundedWisdom lets not talk about Seatin. That’s derailing the thread from the main issue
Okay, so back to my original response. Act 6 is meant to be difficult. Really difficult. What is the hope in bringing it up again? Do you expect them to dumb it down?
No but we expect them to learn for content like act 7
Act 7 would be harder than Act 6. That's just logical. Also, limiting what you can use has been a part of the game for a long time. That's just a part of needing specific counters.
Actually let me go back and correct myself... book 2 chapter 1. That doesn’t necessarily have to be harder than act 6 from the start because it’s a “new book.” Now just because specific counters have been in for a long time doesn’t mean it’s right. This has really only started in act six which again, not to be condescending, but you haven’t reached that yet so you don’t know the feeling of needing specific counters for one fight or path

We expect something that’s actually fun and interesting rather than more super specific nodes with 1 or 2 counters and for it to not just be dominated by 5 champions, lack of variety gets stale
How do you do that with only so many Node combinations, about 200 different Champs, limited mechanics, and a demographic of Players that are very skilled? Eventually you have to limit what they can use.

Then you wait until you pull what you need. Just like everyone else.

My main hope is that they do not rush to release Book 2 (Act 7) and instead, really take the time to listen to the community. If that means a major overhaul, yes, that would amount to a lot of wasted time and effort on the part of the developers, but that would be a much better product than pushing out content that the community has strongly voiced is problematic.
This is especially important since once content is released, it is there to stay. It won't be revamped no matter what. 6.2 gates is a great example. Everyone was against it. They released it anyway. People still (to this day) are against it. Eventually, they said they learned from it and did not include any hard gates for 6.3 and 6.4 BUT they will NEVER go back to change/remove it from 6.2. For that reason, I sincerely hope they do not rush to release Book 2 because once they do, they won't go back and make any changes no matter how horrific it is.
@GroundedWisdom wait to pull a a couple champs out of 170 in the game? What am I supposed to do in the meantime? I’ve done all other content (no abyss though) and I need these specific champs to progress farther.

Nodes that encourage other options but don’t force them, Icarus for example, you can get through it with most champions, and yes the best champions are some of the best for it, but then you’ve got unique options like km with void, and there are ways to play it that give good variety, but in act 7 it’s been mixed with other nodes which mean options are severely limited again, they know how to design good, fun nodes, so it doesn’t make sense why they don’t do it for all of the content
I may not be an endgame player as you guys call it but is the game starting to look more like a job rather than a game where you have fun, becuase I can confidently say that it's not fun when ur ratio to pulling trash is 9 to 1 or whatever numbers are more accurate

Is that so far-fetched? It has deterred many people from the game and is really unattractive for the game in general for low-level players. If I were running the game, I honestly would invest time to ‘dumbing it down’ in order to ensure my invested players don’t leave. Or at least the ridiculous bosses and niche paths. The hope in bringing it up again I think is to remind them how much everybody despised Act 6 (how they could forget is unexplainable to me) and that they are making the same mistake with the current beta iteration of Act 7.
Yes, it is. Act 6 isn't for general to low-level Players. It isn't for people with a few 5*s and a large 4* Roster. It isn't even for people with a couple 6*s.
I’m not saying it’s for them lol, you misunderstand. I’m saying that for them, if they see all high-level players complaining of course they are going to reevaluate why they are investing time in a game with a bleak future. Quantity of 6 star champions is also irrelevant too, as, like me, you can have a high amount and still have trash champions that contribute no help in exploring Act 6. If enough people at a high level are complaining, there IS an issue. I have no idea why you can’t see that, and I’m just not replying to anything you say at this point because I don’t think you’re offering any valid points and it just feels like you’re extensively reaching for any irrational argument for.. what reason?

Good luck convincing people who have been getting lousy rng pulls for a long period to deal with the game becoming that much more of a nightmare...and wait for said counters...
@GroundedWisdom all your points are automatically made invalid by the fact that the GM exists. His very presence in the game proves that there can be skill based fights that don’t rely on rosters
I like Hardcore Content / Challenges Etc. so ye and 6.2.6 im gonna explore later on when i get a counter for No Retreat. its useless to explore it and leave the path left for a long time.
There's a difference between hard/challenging and tedious. 6.1 exploration was alright, It wasn't overly specific ( barring a few lanes and encounters like buffed up sym supreme and caustic temper dormammu) 6.2 chapters 1-4 aren't too bad provided you've got a sinister counter. 6.2.5 is where I think it completely fell off. Strength in numbers is essentially a unit grab. 6.2.6 champion exploration is both hard and tedious, requires specific champs with good options being removed as we speak, has bad nodes( no retreat etc). worst boss in act 6 6.3 is where the niche fights become apparent, take acid wash Mysterio as an example 6.4 is where entire paths become specific i.e power sting practically requiring Mr fantastic The game is just moving in a downward spiral story wise. Act 7.1 node combinations are out of hand, mercy+ aspect of war or bubble shield Modok boss with literally less than a handful of counters Emma frost with a node solely to remove options like ghost
I would rather fight the grandmaster 6 times in a quest rather than go up against a whole quest in act 7, but that's from what I've seen. The grandmaster can be solo'ed therefore making it challenging but skill based and fun. Act 7 just looks like the abyss of hell where your worst mcoc nightmares come to life

There are about 170 champs in game rn. Let's do some quick math. Let's say that there are 18 champs needed to complete and explore act 7.1. That is about 10.5% of all champs in game, thus making 89.5% of the champs in the game be kinda useless. That's just an estimate and Point A. Then you have to have All of those champs at at least 5* r4 level which requires you to pull the champions, then invest a boatload of gold, iso and catalysts, which is point B. Then you have to have a bunch of units, boosts, revives and pots ready to use for whenever you die. While they may cost 1 gold in the beta, it costs a lot in game, which is point C.
Does that sound logical to you? Does that sound like something fun or challenging. Cause it doesn't to me.
It sounds like something not everyone is prepared to do right away. That's not an injustice. It's smart long-term design.

Well no sh*t people are not prepared to r4 5 stars right away. Plus, did you really just call that a smartr long-term design? Really?
@GroundedWisdom i like how you just completely ignore all the valid points about many fights that don’t require specific counters and still continue to spit some bs
@GroundedWisdom spending revives isn’t a measure of skill or roster. Strength in numbers mordo pretty much forces you to revive up or deal pretty much no damage
@GroundedWisdom i like how you just completely ignore all the valid points about many fights that don’t require specific counters and still continue to spit some bs
You can't expect to use whoever you want at that stage of the game.
Plus act 7 beta looks horrible. They could change things, yes, but it’s awful game design in the first place. There’s a mercy sabretooth with aspect of war on there
