Well, Kabam, after five years, I think you have finally pushed me over the edge. This is not a rant, or intended to get people to boycott or quit. Just my feedback for the company. For reference, I am not top of the top. I have bummed around in high P1/low masters alliance and generally somewhere in the top 20-30 AQ alliances. All content cleared except 3 paths of AOL.
Things are worse, and the release of AW just makes me not trust anything you are suggesting in your roadmaps. Defensive tactics with worthless attacker tactics - and then just pile on as many nodes as you can think of. At this point, you are literally just trying to squeeze every penny out of those alliances seeking to be competitive. Again, this is not fun, this is a source of stress for a majority of players. I also acknowledge the fact that there are some that love the competitive aspect of war and will throw all their resources at the game mode. I have no problem with those players. What I have a problem with is that Kabam leverages that against the entire community. Want to cater to those that love the competition, then given them a different map with all these nodes and just let the rest of us have fun. There was a time (long ago) when war was actually fun. Starting with the introduction of seasons, every iteration has been worse. I generally see monetizing a horrible game mode as a huge mistake. People love spending money on this game, but I think (though this is an assumption) that Kabam would make far more money selling things that had guaranteed value and were fun. Buying pots because some node in AW is OP is not "fun".
So then, do I make the decision to go to an AQ only focused alliance? Well, since Kabam has placed sig stones behind a pay wall, I am also done pushing for high prestige as well. I spent all of 2019 getting that P up so I could at least be in a top 20, and close to a top 10 ally. I also generally don't spend cash on crystals, so effectively, as of the beginning of the year, prestige is out of the equation. Given those factors, I am now waiting until December for a hopeful release of Book 2. But what am I doing in the meantime? Ranking up champions in hopes that they are useful in Book 2? Boss rush in July is fine, but I'm guessing it won't be overly challenging or rewarding. Cavalier difficulty? I'm guessing (though I will reserve judgement) that it will just be more of the same stacking up nodes and have little faith in the rewards. Variant 5 will be fun.
Essentially, this is where I have landed. I could literally not log in until Book 2 is released an not even fall that far behind. The Quest dev diary is hopefully leaning toward Kabam understanding the game should be fun rather than frustrating or a chore, but I will reserve that judgement accordingly. So I will be saving my money on July 4th. Sure, a few crystals and rank up resources would be fun, but for what content? Basically, if you aren't pushing prestige, the only ranks for someone in my position would be for AW (see thoughts on AW above).
With the exception of the "no retreat" champion fight, there was a lot of Act 6 that I actually enjoyed and had fun ranking up champs to complete.
Again, just one man's perspective. And perhaps I've just exceed my useful life in the game.
I been waiting a week to see my Magneto have potential just to hear that it is being delayed even further UGH if you see the first few comments its positive and happy so they had to ruin it in a way or it wouldn't be Kabam mabey it's just another bug let's wait a month to find out
