Just served to prove this is not a new mechanic or tactic for the AI
Between 50 to 60 seconds in he does two separate block twitches - easy to see because of his massive tool:
The twitch is more visible depending on the champion’s animation e.g. psycho man who was giving people headaches with his flashing lights on his block twitch.
It’s the AI’s best shot at performing a parry/re-parry.
It’s caught me out a few times.
The ai has point blank refused to throw a special, slowly getting pushed back to the left side of the screen so go to hit block to bait/push defender back and boom, special intercept.
The ai shallow evades are annoying too.
Plus the unexpected ai parrying in AW.
Now, that being said... I've absolutely noticed the AI becoming more and more crafty over the years. And, it will absolutely take advantage of it's near zero input time especially when it has a special loaded. For instance, in higher end content, we as players cannot punish a combo ender on our block if the AI has a bar of power. As soon as we attempt to punish it they will launch into a special animation with almost zero input delay (almost instantly as soon as the next input is available to them) immediately placing them in an invulnerable frame sequence so that our attack whiffs and we then eat the special... etc. There are several examples of this same technique the AI will use if it has a bar of power. Punish a heavy, etc. Or even if we attempt to punish a usually easily punishable special if the AI has another special loaded from a node such as Power Reserve.
The AI really should start it's own game play youtube channel...
You can check out Dave's instinctive touch videos from 2-3 years ago and see plenty of examples of the AI doing this.
