Since most on here claim that 5* are useless for them and are just iso/six star shards, what’s the harm in giving a crystal with no trash in it?
For people who think 5* champs are useless and are just ISO and shards, there's no harm in making the crystal all duds either.
It is the people who still value those champs that the crystal is designed for. If the crystal is nearly worthless to you, the content should also be trivial to do and the reward is reasonable for the effort. For players that value 5* champs greatly the crystal is pretty valuable in general, but the content is probably significantly more difficult for them to complete. That's how it should be: the stronger you are, the easier the content and the less valuable the rewards in the content. The weaker you are the more valuable the rewards are in relative terms but the harder the content is.
It has been explained repeatedly why champion acquisition is random in this game. Some people choose to accept those reasons, some people choose to invent their own. Either way, asking why is mostly pointless at this stage, except for the few people who actually have an academic interest in game reward system design. Everyone else is just going to choose to believe whatever they want to believe, and no amount of complaining about it is going to change it.
